ok yesterday i was talking to my dad (moe's thread reminded me) he said something about how bad satan was...and said, yeah but "wasn't it eve and adam's fault?
i mean yeah satan laid out the sales pitch but they could have said no.
you know gone home, talked it over with god, it wasn't even that high pressured a sales pitch.
I remember thinking about this "omniscient" vs "selective knowledge" thingy as I was leaving the JW's. The main reasons JW's probably adopted this teaching is (1) it removes God from blame and (2) it allows free-will that is unpredicatable.
It seems that the Christian God would have to be completely omniscient though. How can you decide what not to know, if you don't know what it is???

Crazy, you're thinking of "Oneness" or "Modalism" - God in three different roles.
There it is the most basic of descriptions.
One God in three Persons.
Now if you can just show me where this is in the Bible, I would be happy to believe that the Bible says it. I know it says "God is one" but I'm having a lot of trouble finding where it says he is also three.

There is little evidence to back up the theory of evolution, the big bang, etc.
What's wrong with a big bang? Personally, I think it's pure genius to be able create life with an explosion. As for proof, when we look at the stars, they are (1) all travelling away from each other and (2) are slowing down. Those things usually suggest an explosion. As for evolution, of course it happens -- new species have been observed forming.
(If we came from monkeys then where are all the hundreds of missing link species that should be around today?)

The universe is too infinitely complex to have been an accident. The evidence of an intelligent creator surrounds us and penetrates us. The fact alone that we exist should be evidence enough to know that somewhere out there is a God.
Possibly. I don't take the atheist camp -- it's impossible to prove there is no god. But what makes you so sure that it's your Christian God? A book?

As far as believing or not believing in the Trinity, I believe that if it were supposed to be something that Christian salvation was contingent upon, it would be identified as such in Scripture. As far as I can tell -- love neighbor/God and having faith that Jesus is the Son of God were the only ones.

Where in Scripture does it say that God is three persons in one being?
The Shema says that God is one, so is there any clarification of the Shema in the NT?
Also just curious.
When a Christian refers to God as 'Father', is he/she refering to all God-parts or just the Father-part?
And should he/she pray to each God-part in turn to be fair, or 1 or 2 or all of them depending on the situation?

When someone can show me from a Bible that God is three rather than just one, I'll reconsider the Trinity. Until then...
