That is an interesting question to ask a witness though. How many lies (or "untruths" if you want to be diplomatic) have you personally taught or proliferated about the bible? You just have to look at how long they've been an active publisher and then go down the list of how many times the teachings have changed in that time period. You can then point out, "you taught falsehoods about the bible, god, and his purposes." I wonder what their response to that could possibly be?

Your second post moshe, I think says more about todays youth than college. You get out what you put in, and alot of kids go to college thinking it's just like highschool but with more booze, and they move through it without appreciating it or being serious about it, just doing it because it's what you do after highschool. Somebody that actually wants to learn can pick up a tremendous amount from actually learning from a professor, and having an organized curriculum.

Everything i knew was wrong
by StopTheTears inlooking through the internet i learned that everything i have ever know to be true is a lie at the beginning of time god and his celestial family created the earth and the heavens.
they are the greater force and also the fallen angels that are prophesized in the bible.
they sped up the evolution in people separating them from monkeys.

For profit schools can definitely be a trap. In investigating my options I looked at a private junior college, a state run technical college, and a state run university.
The private school was a total trap.
For two years of engineering in the state technical school, it's 12-13k total (books and tuition), for two years of training to be a pharmacy tech (a low paying job, that you often don't even need a degree to get into) it was 32k. That's as much as two years at the state university, WITH lodging. Two years at the university would actually be cheaper than two years in the private junior college if you don't live on campus. And furthermore the private college would get you a 2 year AS that wouldn't be transferable to any other school, so that's as far as you could go without starting over at a different college. And when I went there to investigate my options, it was a high pressure sale. I was almost enrolled within a week and had to very explicitly tell them I wasn't enrolling, they already had my student loan approved and I got a letter saying I now owed thousands of dollars to some lending agency even though I HADN'T ENROLLED. I got that taken care of right away, but it was still absurd how quickly I went from going there to just check on their school, to owing thousands of dollars.
I was highly discouraged since it was the first school I checked (they got me with lots of TV ads), and I thought all colleges were that expensive. After I checked the local state technical college and how their courses were less than half the cost (sometimes as little as 9k depending on what degree you were going for), I felt much better about my chances. Even the local university was cheaper per yer if you weren't living there. I would stay far far away from private colleges, they are interested only in your money.

I read a similar article recently. Makes me feel very good about my decision to go to school. Growing up a witness not getting a job after going to college was a big excuse for me not to go. It was the prevailing wisdom that education was a waste because brother so and so went to school for massage therapy and now he's still a janitor! Why bother? Just pioneer instead. Worked on me too. I didn't want to waste time and money getting an education I wouldn't use, especially since I had no idea what I wanted to do for a living.
I feel kind of dumb saying it, but I hate that I'm getting started so late in life....but....I'm 26. Seeing gentlemen and ladies on here that are going to college for the first time in their 30s, 40s, or even 50s is inspiring to me and makes me feel not so bad about the fact that I won't be starting my first semester until I'm 27. I feel so old having gone through what I have with the witnesses that I forget that I'm younger than I feel at times.
I will hopefully have my AS degree in Engineering when I'm 29, and my goal is to have my bachelors of science before I'm 34. Which seems attainable, but being an adult that has to work full time to pay bills makes going to school full time a difficult proposition. But I am determined and sharp, and it's what I really want, so I think I can handle the work load (I hope).
It really does seem silly when you look at the numbers to not invest at least a couple of years into college. My wife makes more than I do, and it feels like she makes a ton (by our standards), but it's only a bit under 30k a year with her latest promotion (she's worked for the same company for years, and has managed to move up the ladder to an assistant manager at a big box retail store). But even with just an AS degree in engineering the "entry level" positions pay more than that. It always seems hilarious to me when I read something by somebody talking about careers and saying "well this job doesn't really pay all that much, maybe 40 grand a year" and I think "That's freakin' rich by my standard!". I'm not materialistic by any stretch of the imagination, but it would be nice to not live paycheck to paycheck, and be able to start planning for retirement in several decades. I feels sorry for my brother and sister who are still in that will never go to school, or have a chance to earn a decent wage, or retire.
I really need to go to school.

I love skyview! That app is awesome! Let's see, let me pick out what I have on here...I have "SAT QOTD" which is just a random SAT question of the day, I like to keep my mind sharp, so having a little morsel in the morning is always nice.
Vocabology, which has the "word of the day" from a variety of dictionary websites.
Khan Academy's app, just nice to have some math and science videos on the go.
For games I have Angry Birds (who doesn't?), Robot Unicorn Attack, and Battleheart.

Fear and paranoia are one of the strongest tactics of cult groups. According the witnesses the entire world is controlled by invisible evil forces that want nothing more than to see you suffer and die, and they've polluted the minds of every non witness on the planet, and soon very very soon, not sure when but boy is it soon, all the governments of the world will rise up and try to destroy religion, and when the witnesses don't concede the entire planet including all the people you once called friends and family will rise up against you in the great tribulation and they will torture you and murder you and hunt you down and the only way you will be able to withstand this and be safe is to go to their meetings and hand out their literature, and if you don't do this another invisible man in the sky will kill you and your loved ones....soooo....here's your monthly quota, ten hours a month, place these magazines and start some studies!
To any sane rational person this looks like a cult, but to them it's "The Truth".

I didn't say there weren't more blue collar workers than trained workers, I said that we'd be screwed if their weren't blue collar workers. The assumption that they are "parasites" on society is nonsensical seeing as how society can't function without them. They are symbiotes and are required for society to function. That's not uber-leftist, it's logic. What would a society look like without the service industry? If the John Galts all stopped working, society would collapse. The same is true of the Joe six packs. It's mutual dependence, it's just that one side seems to think it's their moral right to screw the other. Which as I pointed out, morality and fairness are not necessarily the same things.
I'm not saying a doctor should make the same thing as a janitor, the market will sort out who makes what. But it is not immoral to be a joe six pack as ayn rand suggests, and the joe six packs of the world are also necessary for the doctors to have their paychecks. The doctor is not producing his own medicine, or manufacturing the machines he uses. He's dependent on some guy making a fraction of his wage to supply him with the equipment he uses to make his living. And that guy doing the manufacturing is dependent on a engineers and scientists to develop the machines he's making, and the entrepenuers to invest and run the business. But his economic status does not make him less of a human being, or a drain on society because it would still collapse without his efforts.
My point is not that we should all make equal wages or live in communes, but that it is a wrong attitude to take that the janitor in his building is somehow a blight on society, and that the guy that made milllions investing in the futures market should thumb his nose at this "parasite" because that guy has trouble paying his bills. Especially when that guy emptying his trash and cleaning up his mess.

It's from a comic strip called "Saturday Morning Breakfeast Cereal". It's nerd comics on math, philosophy, science, and logic. I love that comic.
