The whole Other sheep and 144,000 is a bull. When Jesus said I have other sheep that are not of this fold he was saying that there would be Gentiles that would come in not Jewish (not of this fold). The hope for all Christians is a heavenly one. In Hebrews chapter 11 it even states that Abraham was looking forward to his heavenly reward. Jesus Christ is our Lord and God and Savior. IF you want to do some real investigating you should get yourself an Interlinear Bible you will see how they have messed up the Bible by putting their scriptural interpretation into that translation. THey are wrong about the Blood issue. THey change thier interpretaitons all the time and unfortunately people die because of their misinterpretations. Did you know they use to forbid vacinations because they said they were wrong. How many were harmed or died because of this. They also use to forbid transplants saying it was like eating someone else. Now it's a conscious matter. Oops we now have NEW LIGHT. sorry you let your child die but he will be ressurcted. That is another thing they don't believe in a resurrection they believe in a recreation of someone. I'm hard pressed to see what they believe that is accurate except they try to be love their neighbor as themself.... oh yeah they can't do that either Love other people who are witnesses and try to convert everyone else because they are WORLDLY.

A Good Elder does not exist, because if he were truly good he would have left the org or at least stepped down and would be planning his exit. because as an elder that would mean that he is still misleading people.

How can I find out what my standing in the Org is?
by lv4fer inthere was never an announcement made.
i wrote them a letter not a da letter, but essentially i told them that me and my family simply wanted to "cease to be involved with the faith" at the time on their web site it said that you would not be shunned if you simply ceased to be involved with the faith.
i also said if they made an announcement that i would sue them for slander.

Thanks. I was just wondering. I have no reason to care except that my dad is still in and he asked me and I said I didn't know but that I was pretty sure I was just considered inactive officially. My husbands cousin, who is in elder in another congregation, inferred to my dad that we were disfellowshipped. SO that is why he asked me. I thought if I could just call up the society and ask them (I was thinking maybe they had a database with the info on it they could tell me.) I don't want to ask any elders from my old KH because I don't want them to think I care and that I might consdider their opinion important. I wouldn't want to be the individuals who have judged me when they go before Christ to answer to him.

So then there is no way, short of my calling one of the elders of my old congregation, to find out what they labeled me as.

I talked to the PO and he said no announcement was ever made. He said the reason people shun me is that they talk amoung themselves. It's not that I really care I'm just curious. If I called the society could I ask what my standing is with the organization. DO they keep a file on everyone? Maybe I'm inactive. If I started attendig meetings here I moved to a different state (not that I ever would) would I be able to just pick up where I left off and be a good JW? Or would they find out.

I wouldn't give them the benefit of my presence. The last meeting I went to was the memorial 2002. I was still trying to put on a happy face I didn't want my kids to loose all their friends. By this point it actually made me sick to my stomach and I had a feeling of anxiety my heart pounding ( I don't normally have anxiety problems) They sent us a letter saying we had been accused of apostasy and that we were to attend a jucdical committe etc. I called them and said that day was not good for my husband and I and we promptly wrote them a letter saying we were not Apostates of Jesus Christ, we believe in all of his teachings and live our lives according ly. I said if they made any announcement at the Kingdom Hall regarding me or my family I would consider it slander and I would retain a lawyer and sue them. They never said a thing to us after that. People started shunning us and I called up the PO and asked why people were shunning us, and if they had made an announcement of any sort. He assured me no DF or DA announcement had been made, but reminded me that people talk amongst themselves and that was probably why we were being shunned. MY Dad is still a witness and he says the rumor he heard is that we were df'd. So that is what people say. I've sinced moved to a different state and I really don't care.

What Have You Learned From This Site?
by minimus ini see that some people feel that jwd is a godsend.
they've learned so much in so short of time.....have you been helped by this site and other similar ones here on the internet?

This site really helped me to realize I wasn't alone. When you are a JW and you start questioning your beliefs you have no one to turn to really. You can't discuss your feeling with another friend which would be a JW and you can't discuss your feelings with a non JW because they don't understand.

High rates of depression in Org.
by chuckyy ini noticed after being a jw for a while that many members of my congregation were having to take antedepressants.
(i counted at least 30 out of 100).
after a few years i too began to have bouts of depression and problems with anxiety.

There is definitely a high rate a depression in the JW's. Also if there is an article in the AWAKE about some disorder 1/3 of the people will say they think they have it. In retrospect if you are sick with something that gives you an excuse not to have to go out in service as much, and to be able to miss a few meetings. So they say they have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or whatever the latest Syndrome. Because deep down no one really enjoys all those meetings and or Field Service. If they are sick though they can make and excuse and try not to feel guilty about not going.

Met a JW elder for the first time since leaving JW
by coldfish ini left about 14 months back and stopped attending meetings cold turkey.
so i haven't seen any jws for ages and for some reason i've never bumped into them at the mall or in town - and i guess that means they haven't seen me either or know what i'm up to.. i was at a cafe with a male friend today, we look like a typical couple that is we're the same age, shop together etc but its purely platonic.
but you know how it is with jw .

You can bet they will be after you now! I have to laugh at him walking away without saying goodbye. The cross you see gave him a reaction much like a vampire. They can't stand to look at a cross, it is evil!

You should read some the books written by Lee Strobel. A Case for Christ, A Case for Faith etc. He was a confirmed Athiest for many years and then turned Christian after much research and he wrote some books debating the issues. They are excellent.
