Good news: No longer an elder; Bad news: Disappointed wife
by doinmypart inmy wife & i have a good relationship except when it comes to things dealing with the wts.
over the past few years we've both made concessions, and i even made some headway in getting her to think about some things.
but from time-to-time we would end up arguing about something wts-related and there would be days of tension between us.. well, a few weeks ago we were having a casual conversation about wildlife in our area, she mentioned something about jehovah ruining those who ruin the earth.

I really feel for you. It does get to a point that you want to just stand up in the middle of the meeting and scream! I'm sure you've tried a lot of different things to get her to listen, however have you tried fighting fire with fire? What I mean is get out your bible and you it to show her that the Watchtower teachings are wrong. That is how I got my husband to listen. I started reading the bible a lot when I first left because I wanted God to speak to me not some organization or some person telling me what it meant. In Hebrews where it talks about those of faith Abraham, Sarah etc. It say they were all looking forward to their heavenly reward. That was the scripture that I asked my husband about. I read the chapter to him and said now where does it sound like they were planning on being after they died? there are a lot of other examples of various inaccurate teachings I could give you and if you just use the bible, she cannot refute it. This may open her eyes.

My baby moved out today. She is 18 and moving back to the Fresno, CA area. We moved to Las Vegas about 3 years ago and she is moving back to be with some of her friends and to go to College. She is my youngest and my house will seem so empty without her. I will miss her so. I know it is not that far away only 6 and 1/2 hour drive but still it is so hard. I always thought I would look forward to the day it would be just me and my husband but it is really bittersweet. When she was leaving she gave me and my husband both a hug and everyone was crying and she said why does this have to be so emotional?! I will be back to visit. My husband and I know that too but still it is so hard to see your children grow up and leave, but that is what the goal is.

Should I marry a JW ?
by curiousabouthim ini am new to the jw world, not one, but do love one.
met a man who down to the tee is amazing.
he is a great man, the only thing i am not so sure about is his "religious" beliefs.

So, you are in love with this guy. I'm sure he has a lot of fine qualities and that is why you love him. Being a JW can bring out either the worst or the best in a person. In his case let's say the best. You are kidding yourself if you think he doesn't want you to become one. I can guarantee you that he thinks he will win you over and you will become one. Before you commit you need to read up on the JW's. Some of the sites that show the history, their changes in doctrines over the years etc.etc. only after you arm yourself then you show the information to him and watch his reaction. See if he will be as open minded about the information you find as he expects you to be about his religion. There will be one of two respnses. A- he will listen and actually take in the information, digest it and then realize he needs to leave and you two will have a happy life. B- The JW's brainwashing wall will go up and he will say that you are reading Apostate information and that he will not listen or read the information. If this happens you have two choices. Marry him and he will continue to try to win you over the JW way he will wear you down or you will have an unhappy and probably unsuccesfull marriage. Or you can run in the opposite direction and not marry him. My suggestion is to show him the facts on the JW's and see how he reacts. This will determine whether yo want to spend the rest of your life with this person.

NWT inserting Jehovah in the NT (discussing the "J" references)
by AuldSoul ini wrote most of this in response to drew sagan, in a thread that wasn't really about this issue.
when i read back over it, i figured it need a thread of its own.. the first part of the puzzle is in appendix 1d of the nwt reference bible.
they list all "237 places where the name jehovah occurs in the main text of the new world translation of the christian greek scriptures.

WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!!! This is really a great site. It helped me so much also. The road may me full of ups and downs ahead of you and your family but you will be blessed. I know what you mean about reading the bible and it being so much fun. I got a NIV version and just loved it. My husband and two children have been out for about five years now and are really happy now. I'm not saying there are not times when we don't grieve the loss of some of our old friends and family members from leaving but we are much happier now. I couldn't have done it withou my friend and savior Jesus Christ.

Are "Apostates" jumping the gun with their info on the WT to make a case?
by booker-t ini take some of the things apostates say with a "grain of salt" because many times i think they embellish the truth to make the wt look bad to make their case.
for example i have for years heard that the wt uses "satanic" images in their artwork but i have yet to see any proof of these accusations.
i have heard that jw's no longer practice "disfellowshipping" but my teenage niece was recently "disfellowshipped".

I never partook as a Witness. The last memorial I attended I partook at home after attending. I knew it would be my last but I didn't want to make a scene, I was trying to leave quietly at the time. Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour is annointed. I am born again. I love him and am so greatful he gave his life for me. I attend a non-denominational church and they pass the bread and wine every sunday and I partake. Beverly Henley
