do you try to re-build Childhood memorys????
by lydia inwith so many having been raised in the truuf.... do any of you now feel that due to the abuse and horros of being raised that way that you now need to work at building positive memories of things..like christmas??.
do others accuse you of going overboard with the holiday celebrations??.
do you look for opportunitys to have a party??.

Weather and the Dubs....
by lydia inthe weather here has been very strange to say the least..... i live in an area that usually gets snow and very cold temps.. but this year it is as if we are having spring early..... so i guess my question for all is.....what - if anything- do you think that the dubs would say about it??.
is it a preclude to armmageddon??.
what are your thoughts on the weather?

Yes I live in th US NorthEast I hope that something happens soon - my tulips and daffodils are trying to come up already - I don't want to lose all 400 bulbs again!

by lydia ini have been studing the book of revelation for some time now... the understanding i have of the dubs is that it is a time line...i have always had a hard time with that since so many of the visions give the similar description about it.. recently i have read the augsburg comentary on the new testament revelation..... it gives the opinion that it is not ment as a time line but as a cycle of viions that are giving a diffrent version of the same idea...and the main theme is worship... anyone have a diffrent pespective?

Keeping House to House Records??? Joe Public
by Celtic inyou know when we used to go from house to house and we kept records etc of not at homes and what have you?
surely the general public would be concerned to know that so much personal information is taken and kept by the jw congregations.
anyone else with any views on this?

You have a very good point - think of it this way..
If someone knows that there is no one home at a certain house at a certain time.. and this info falls into a persons hands who is a thief ( now we know there are NONE of these in the Borg )
that person could, in the worst case scenario - rob the place-OR as was pointed out - a Pedofile could return - and after striking up a conversation with the child residing there - begin to abuse that child....
I believe thatthey sometimes use the fact that a person keeps records here of someone's coming and going to warrenta stalking charge here in the US...
Many of the public are unaware of this practice....
While the Borg is no longer a big part of my life - I think the public has a right to know if notes are kept about their property.

many sites dealing with witnessing to jw's often cite revelation 19:1 as proof that the "great crowd" is in heaven.

My understanding of the Book of revelation is that it was written to then worshipping congregations...not the whole church - but those who attend on a regular basis. While it is still relevant to us - the understanding and meaning of it has been so distorted by so many groups it is ridiculous... the interpretations of many of the verses - which would have made perfect sense to thos congregations - are bogus.
I have been studying this book for some time..
Rev. 19:1 refers to not just angels but the company of conquerors who have kept the faith.
I would encourage you to read " The Augsburg Commentary on the New Testament Revelation" by Gerhard A. Krodel
It gives you an interesting and understandable commentary on it - and also brings out how the people of John's day not only would have understood some of the references.. but the symbols too.
