This may sound like a redundant theme here, but please bear with me....I have enjoyed the Harry Potter sereis too..and Andee...I just ordered "Where the Wild Things Are" for my daughter too!! ( my sister loved to have that read to her!) here's an FYI - there is a movie being made from that book at this time too!!
I've been enjoying "The Cure" by Zane Gates (new author here- VERY GOOD!!), All of the Sue Grafton series of Kinsey Milhone mysteries (she rocks!!) and many others!
Also watching lots of Movies - "R" rated of course (or worse!) I've got about 8 years of movies to catch up on - Most memorable one to date - "The Sixth Sense" Makes you really think!

I can hardly not believe that this was coming from the WTBS....it sounds so like the way they are- those who mwntioned the double talk and ways are right - this is another way of them gaining the loyalty of the people so they will not leave.
How very sad that they feel they must stoop to this method of mind control!
And then to encourage those in NY to preach by leaving their bags at home!!!!! What do they have for minds? The corporate agenda here is so thick I think I may choke!!My heart bleeds for those that are so scared that they are beliving these things will take place as the "GB" says it will. I only can hope that many more will look at this and see what we here do.
Only then will they find they have their lives back.

glad i got that out of the way.. something that really bothers me is: when they say that the gb all the way down, elders, and ministerial servents are "appointed" by jehovah, and are deserving of "double honor".

Esmeralda has it right -
its the old school of buisness..
and its the "who you know and who you blow" theory as to the "Anointing" of the elders and so forth. Makes me sick to think that they really drill the "flock" with this idea of anointing! The elders I knew were the biggest set of self-righteous bigots I've had the misfortune to know! My ex-husbands mistresses uncle and cousins (both elders there) were the 2 who came to tell me of the decision to disfellowship him - and they even had the odasity to imply I was to blame for the situation!! If that is what being "anonted" does to compassiion adn feelings- leave me out of it!!keep up the questions!!

- seems that the feeling of never doing enough for the org.
( to obtain a place in the "new system" ) has spilled over into other areas of our lives.

I am so very grateful that we are not alone in this. Thank you all for your input and I apreciate your respoces, as do my 2 sisters. we will continue to work on overcoming these feelings, as many of us have been forced to do. Amazing isn't it that the orginization that claims to be so very loving is so very destructive!!
Thank you also MrMoe for the research - it was very informative!, and Englishman - I will get that book to read too!

How did you leave the JW's?
by rhett inmy question for everyone is how did you leave the org?
not really what led up to it but what did you do to no longer be a part of it?.
personally, i think i have to have one of the more humerous stories of leaving.

My ex-husband was disfellowshipped for having an afair...I was devestated by both the afair and the disfellowshipping. I had already started to question things. When no one cared to stop and see how I was.. I moved back to my home town and in with a guy. (YEAH!)
It was the most freeing thing I'd ever done. I spent the next 6-9 months geting to know me again. It's been a long process, but I'm much better now. I really started to see the control that they had held on me..and I didn't like it. So, I sent a letter to the cong. in this area to DA myself, and I haven't looked back.
Life is to live and to love..not to worry about what one needs to do to obtain the prize. God loves us because we are individuals and because we love.
Live life to the fullest..its too short to worry about meeting hour requirements!! -

I've been mulling over this and I'm finding that its common with several of my extended family who were raised in the org. - seems that the feeling of never doing enough for the org.( to obtain a place in the "New System" ) has spilled over into other areas of our lives. We don't feel we are good enough for other things..like being a parent, cooking, being in a relationship..ect. One of my dearest freinds recently stated she felt she didn't even deserve to live.
Any one else having this problem?? now or in the past?? The three of us are working hard to get over this.

Our American Flag
by Vienna indoesn't it feel good to not be a jw at this point in history?
through the fear of the last few days, i do have comfort from scripture about my eternal salvation through jesus (as a witness you never felt secure with god--don't miss a meeting or field service for long or you're out), but also because my husband and i can display our american flag on our cars and in front of our house to support our country!.
as americans, we will not stand for terrorism and i'm proud to be in this country.

I agree with you..the freedom to react the way we feel we should..whether its by showing the flag or paitriotism..is something that is not allowed in the BORG...and you are totaly right with the constant batter to try to continually reach for more and attend this or you're not a "GOOD DUB". I too am so glad I am not being held by that "Standard" andy more!!

What Bethel has done per their information Line

1. donated batteries and flashlights.
2. power equipment to cut through concrete.

So very sad that the org that was so busy making a PR video had to shut the doors and lock them!!
That way thier real hypocracy would not be seen. If this is all they have to offer to those suffering now ( not counting those Stupid self-rightoeus tracts and PR papers of all the good this will bring)
It truely shows how far from Christ they have gone.
