This story came up in a conversation just a few days ago and I thought I had seen it posted on here. I could not believe this happened 8 years ago already.

It’s such a sad story. The person I was talking to wondered if Jordan has been gay. Interestingly, a married brother in the congregation about the same age as Jordan went into a severe depression because of this event. I had to wonder if they were just close friends or something more. These types of stories seem so common among gay JW’s.

The person I was talking to brought this story up because of what was written in the latest Watchtower about true Christians not being homophobic. I said if only that were true! JW's love to set gay people up for failure with comments that it can be cured by prayer and more service to the Watchtower. When that obviously doesn't work people are left with severe depressions that can easily lead to suicide. I feel bad for the gay JW that sticks with this organization. I have yet to meet one that has a happy life.

wow thanks Atlantis! These are fun to read. It just shows this is a corporation and not a religion. The outline for the talk on blood is so micromanaged its sickening. But since the R&F don't see it they think the local brother "lovely" came up with it. puke!

we have had an issue come to a head in this household of mine.

after getting to the bottom of my parners intentions i have given her an ultimatum knowing all too well she will choose the jws over myself and family.

You just launched a frontal attack on a person who has been sucked into the cult mentality? After reading Steve Hassan's book, I know understand why that doesn't work. You could have helped her by educating yourself on how to win this type of situation.

Why So Many Young People Are Leaving The Watchtower

i have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.

last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.

one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.

Doesn't it go back to their world view? If you really believe the end is going to come soon (usually within a couple years or so) there is simply no time/no point for new ideas. In some ways it seems that the leadership as well as the R&F just believe they should tread water until the new system comes and then they can embark on new ideas.

i was shocked to say the least.

i remember when my childhood congregation built a new hall in 1989 for $60,000.

ok so maybe $250k is reasonable. I have heard concrete work is amazingly expensive and one of the biggest items in home construction.

I found that what cost $60000 in 1989 would cost $104136.80 in 2010. It's difficult to get a straight answer on how the RBC prices project. Is there anyone here on a RBC that can talk about who prices these projects out?

Do you think Jehovah's Witnesses have more attractive young adults than average?

i was recently hanging out with someone that went to the convention last weekend.

he/she mentioned that the convention was chock full of hotties and from my memory of the conventions, and i have been to dozens, he/she was right.

one thing that comes to mind is that witnesses can lose privileges within the congregation if they are too dirty so cleanliess (neatness) is especially important.

Yes I would agree, that the young adults at the convention look attractive. Just out of curiousity did this person attend a convention in the US?

In the US, one thing that I find turns me off is all of the tattoo's people are getting. It's a huge fad here! I don't find them attractive, so when you see young adults without them I personally am more attracted to them. JW's also have that business look. Young people dressed up will always be more attractive than a tatted up person wearing rag shorts etc. Just my two cents...
