@New Chapter. I think you are in all your right to think like that. You seem to be an unbiased observer, which is odd and pretty good judge of the matter. Our society is so ingrained with racism, that we we don't notice 90% percent of it. The little sister was tole d to take out her braids simply because it was too black. It's ridiculous and it's repugnant, but it's the truth. I get dirty looks (from ppl in the congo) because my hair is too curly. My hair grows upward like a Jewfro. I'm expected to either chop it off or to smuther my hair with product, flatten it and look for like a white man.
Frankly, I'm very surprised the Org would request (enforce) such a thing. The Org is terribly racist and anachronistic. If you don't look (style-wise) like Nathan Knorr your unharmonious. And if you don't look like Knorr's wife your wordly. I would expect the org to want black sisters to straighten their hair and not wear braids, locks, afros, et cetera. After all, looking like 1950's (white) American salesmen is what Jehovah wants.
I for one think all black women should go natural (hairstyle-wise). I sicerely think it's internalized self-racism otherwise- I maybe wrong. I just think it's wrong to be told that looking like certain race of people is beautiful and your personal features which are natural to your ethncity is ugly.

Anti witnessing
by thecrushed ini've been doing a lot of anti witnessing at work and i wondered if anyone has gone door to door and pretended they witnessed to the house holder but secretly inserted a message in the watchtower that said something like i'm trapped in a cult and have been forced to go door to door so that i can remain in good standing and keep from being shunned by my family.
help i'm in a cult never listen to me or anyone else that comes to your door in a suit!

I couldn't agree more with Billy's last paragraph. Think of Paul's advise to woman married to unbelieving husbands: "Win them without a word"- or something like that. You have to show them how much better off you are. Show your family how 'good' you are or can be. Even though it won't be by their standards it's hard not to notice. If you are a believing man, pray more, study more, get involved in charity which is "sacred service to God", be kind to your wife. If you are not a beliveing man the latter three should apply either way. Above all, do it for yourself. Embettering yourself in such ways is not only good for you but good for your family.

I'm very sorry to hear that Crushed. Don't lose hope; it takes time. It took time with my wife and my mother. My wife has coome to her senses and my mother is coming around. Be subtle, be loving, and above all be righteous.
But, to answer your question: I have. I do anit-witnessing all the time. I did a lot at college. I let everyone who was interested, mostly people from the MSA ( Mulsim Student Association) and Christian clubs what the religion was all about. About the faults, fallacies, false prophecies, hubris, and cult-like actions.
Also, last year, during the memorial campaign I wrote notes in pen at the corner of the invitations. Either warnings or links to websites. My favorite website recommendation was JWfacts.com. So, thorough and so informative.

The neighborhood is one of the most gentrified, artsy, and expensive areas of NYC. It has very little to do with the WTBS being there. They've been there for 103 years. Perhaps there to blame for the crime in the first place- think about it.

Seriously, James Woods is absolutley right. How pretty is she (rhetorical)? Is it worth it? I say ask her out.
As was said before if she says yes then she can't be too hardcore. Try to get a feel of her personality- how cult is it? Engage her in meaningful discussion- politically, philisophically, and especially spiritually. See how much of a critical thinker she is. She might be a great person, I wouldn't doubt it. But the critical thinking is key. and Cool made a great point... can you see her as an ex-jw. If after a while you can't do not... Do Not get in any deeper!
And most importantly, don't fall in love. Really.

If Jesus is coming Passover night and trying to save his followers, are JW all around world would be saved? According to the WT article, The answer is...
by learnaway inthe modern jewish calendar determines the beginning of their month of nisan by the astronomical new moon.
however, usually it is eighteen hours or more later when the first sliver of the crescent of the new moon becomes visible in jerusalem.
each year, in recent times, the governing body of jehovahs witnesses has determined the actual new moon that becomes visible in jerusalem, which is the way the first of nisan was determined in biblical times.

This is because the memorial of Jesus' last supper is not the same day as the Passover Celebration. Passover celebration is the 15th of Nisan, always, no matter whom you ask. The last supper however, is debatable. It varies due to the differences in the Gospels and the interpretations of the significance of Jesus 'death.'
C.T. Russell favored the 14 of Nisan found in Mark (I think) as opposed to the John's (I think) insinuation of the 15th. The 24 of Nisan is the preperation day. It is the day of the sacrifice and the slaughter of the Lamb. If Jesus is the lamb and his was a sacrifice for salvation, then symbolically it is reasonable and appropiate for his last supper to be on the day of preperation; the day before the passover 'salvation'.
