Nice Intro, I haven't posted my "official" intro either and now that I have read yours I can just cut and paste it as it is almost identical to mine, thanks,

i have been an avid reader on this site for a few years and have weighed in on a few topics and introduced a few more without introducing myself.
for this i apologise.
the main reason for my reticence is that being a second generation born in but having been baptised in the 50s i will find it difficult to make an introduction without giving the game away.

i've heard it said that the watchtower printed an official stance on what qualifies as "adultery" at one point in the 1970s??
they said that a woman was not free to divorce her husband if her husband had sex with another man or with an animal, as such sexual relations did not constitute "becoming one flesh"... apparently vaginal intercourse is the only means of fusing two human bodies together.... what watchtower is such a doctrine found in?
is it in the wt cd-rom?
un-freaking believable, as a recent ex-elder I never undertood how the org. made these changes and then did not go back and try to "un-ring" the bell so to speak, at least make some kind of apology to those df'd under old light.
This application of script. makes no sense, adultery is adultery the whole principle is based on marital fidelity.
This is a perfect example of the power over our lives that all JW's have given to the GB to all our detriment.
If Jehovah was really directing them they would only get "new light" that would be correct the first time!
Oh well off to my SAD tomorrow, maybe we will get some more new light that will change after the damage is done.

we are adults here and don't want jwn to reflect a hostile enviornment for lurkers who may.
wish to learn about the watchtower.
many first timers might be very curious to discover whether.
When I first started lurking here I found some of the discussions very interesting and of course there are many hateful post here about your ex-comrades in the Org. from people who have an extreme hate for all things WT and the Org. it is obvious the are emotionally damaged and wrightfully so.
It appears that some who spend a great deal of time here starting many threads and post really have nothing else to do with thier time but start very caustic attacks on others as they likely have no new light of their own to shed.
I agree with Terry some post would scare off many a curious JWs looking for the other side of the story in order to deal with thier inner conflicts that we all have concerning "the Truth" and seeing some of the goofy things on here would be a turn off to many and they will never venture out of the BOX again. Saying to themselves "man the GB was absolutley correct about those evil apostates!"
I am usually unaffected by the things on here as I have somewhat of an open mind (why I have had it rough in the Org.) and I try to respect everyone's opinion and commend many on this forum for bringing some solid evidence of the misgiuded men called the GB who control the lives of millions with just a stroke of a pen.
So I agree the is no real way to control the post here but I think the suggestions put forth by Terry and others should be considered by all who are truly interested in promoting The Real Truth.

PS aSphereisnotaCircle could you pm me give with some other forums you have visited please or you can post them here.
thoughout my life i have seen many take the walk of shame that is disfellowshipping.
i have never been df'ed, but i have had many experiences reading the faces of newly df'ed ones.. their faces are always the same.
defeated by a foe that they never had a chance with in the beggining; a raping so-to-speak.
Qwt,
I feel ya dude, but the WBTS is to big to bring down and apostates are not organized and most don't give a crap. The rest are to busy with thier freedom from the Org. and just come here to vent. The rest are focused on thier therapy sessions and after today at the hall I'm going to sign up for some myself.
But that is for a future thread as I need to be careful with the details, there is more eyes than just ex-JWs watching this forum. I don't want to be paranoid but if I was at HQ this is the place I would be trolling to prepare for the aposta-hunt that will begin after the 7/15/11 wt study.

Superspook
I have experience on both sides, DFd once and involved with many JC cases as an elder. (no longer serving obviously)
I have noticed over several decades a more merciful approach by the elders to try to help the brothers ( remember the elders are playing by somebody else s' rule book), and only in extreme cases DFing was needed. These were individuals who were repeat offenders and those who just refused to cleanup their act. When I was DFd the JC looked at things more black and white and you got whacked for really stupid stuff, but while serving I only experienced the elders doing their best to extend mercy and they approached things from a loving way considering we were forced to tow the line for the Org.
Be that as it may, I was always very stressed in passing judgment on my fellow screwed up imperfect humans and thought there must be a better way to discipline wrongdoers without cutting off all association with family that could be an encouragement to come back.
I tried to imagine Jesus as the head of the cong. sitting on a committee and it just did not fit.
Finally I had enough and I'm relieved I no longer have to endure that nightmare.
People get freaked about DFing with the JW's but it is not exclusive to the org. (Catholics excommunicate members) The big difference is the families being forced to shun each other because of men taking things beyond what is written in script. and using DFing as a sword hanging over the R&F members.
It is a highly effective way of keeping total control- and forcing those who would like to leave stay ( for family & friends) and forcing some to return for the same reasons.
At any rate whenever or if ever the Creator returns there will be some heavy dues to be paid by those who have convinced themselves they are serving him by this unloving practice of disfellowshipping.

i'm in a tough position.
i gave my last talk as an ms a couple of weeks ago, and i haven't been out in field service in well over a month.
i "came out" to the closest people in my life...namely my gf and mother...i was also recently asked to step down from being a servant - largely because my heart was no longer in it and i couldn't stomach going from door to door peddling magazines and other literature full of lies and logical fallacies.
Doubtful,
Take it slow, if you want to have contact with your family keep your doubts to yourself there is no upside to fess'n up in this case, this kinda stuff makes me ill, as a former elder, and I think every active elder should visit here to see cases just like this to get the real picture of what is going on with the sheep.
The facts are that you can approach the elders for help with pornography, family problems, stress issues, money problems, disputes with others in the cong. etc. etc. but never never never talk about anything that would be viewed as apostate thinking or lack of faith in the F&DS- GB especially in light of the upcoming July 2011 WT. on apostates.
It is a very sad state of affairs when we who are still "in" for the sake of family that we have to come here to vent and discuss these matters with total strangers instead of those who profess to be "watching over our souls" but this is the ONLY PLACE to do that in order to keep your sanity and keep your family and friends!
I wonder what the Fine Shepherd thinks about this in his congregations?
Welcome to the brotherhood of the Broken hearted!

ok the 2011 memorial belongs to history, but let me hear your comments...personally i found it boring, most of the talk was focusing on why not to partake from the "emblems", instead on focusing on jesus sacrifice.... as i have seen most jw's are dressed to the heel, like it is an oscar awards nomination.
being disfellowshiped, i was kind of invisible, i almost believed that i have died and it was my spirit that attend there at the hall, but an inactive jw, confirmed that i was still alive(and i felled kind of relief), since he came shake hands, and talked with me.. .
I really had the opportunity to concentrate as I am not serving any longer other than the coveted cleaning dept. and I have to say they did spend alot of time making sure no one partook unworthily. I agree the speaker did not spend enough time on the actual sacrifice that Jesus made and probably confused new ones attending. I went home and watched the Passion of Christ by Mel Gibson for the first time and that did the trick.
I witnessed a new person starting to drink the wine and his JW escort motioned for him not to do it, which was very strange. Who cares if someone wants to think they are going to heaven- oh yeah I forgot the number crunchers they don't want another 4-5,000 F&DS this year.

this is one of the most aggressive watchtowers i think i have ever read.. four study articles on not "following the crowd" not following unrealities(page 13) not following false teachers, meaning apostates of course(p 15).
avoiding false teachers means "refusing to read their literature, watch tv programs that feature them, examine their web sites, or add comments to their blogs.
(para 7, pg 16).
I have visited this site for many months and read some really thought provoking post and plenty of well documented shenanigans of the org., but I have yet to see anyone attempting to recruit any "disciples after themselves" or even suggest attending another organized religion! In fact I am here for myself and not interested in trying to change anyone's belief system especially the seemingly contented bro. at the hall, it's their choice. I have been doing that for almost 40 yrs. as a witness, been there, done that, got the T-shirt.
What most people affiliated with the WT org past or present come here for( like myself) is to discuss topics like this, that in no way could ever be mentioned in the org. or local congregation. The thing is is your faith is so strong what is the big deal, sorry that opens another can-o-worms.
This is why articles like this are regular "spiritual food" to promote the absence of such discussions within the org. by inflicting huge guilt trips and major fear factors for the R&F.
it is unfortunate that there are some who post that have really hateful and strange agendas as well as incoherent thought patterns that would spook any honest hearted JW that would dare to venture out of the WT enclave and quickly retreat to the safety zone. But that is what open and honest discussions are all about and in an OPEN forum you have to take the good with the bad-you be the judge of what to take in or not, you don't leave it up to someone at HQ to do that for you.
Life is not all neat and tidy as in the "spiritual paradise" wrightttttttt ?
