I have 2 WV newspapers (in larger WV cities) that "might" publish a L-T-E, but I need a WV resident willing to act as signatory, which includes full name, address, telephone number, and fielding a call from the Editors.
Any takers?

after following jalward's and other's posts over the past week or so regarding how the borganization views the wts's previous un affiliation, i thought it would meaningful to consider how joe average elder in mayberry, usa perceives the congregation's responsibility to not only to keep entirely free of governmental connections, but even how far a local boe would go to avoid even an appearance of such.. thus, i pose the following hypothetical, and invite readers to give their opinion as to how they think mayberry's boe would react to receiving this letter from their local mayor:.

Re: Award Winner
Dear Sirs:
The Beautification Committee of the City of Mayberry has voted to award certificates of merit to those citizens or organizations in Mayberry who have made certain improvements to their property which have contributed to the overall beauty of our City. I understand that your organization has contributed greatly to the beauty of our City and the City Council and myself would like to personally thank you.
Representatives of your organization are invited to be present at the City Commission meeting on Tuesday, December 14, at 10:00 a.m. to receive your Beautification Award. City Commission Meetings are held at City Hall, 2nd Floor.
We look forward to seeing your representatives on December 14th.
Sincerely,
Mayor Barney Fife
the stratton township case appears to have a very good chance of success despite the appeals to the supreme court.
but this is obviously not the first time villages and towns have attempted to stop continual disturbance by the jw's.
the quebec court cases that the wt won are examples.. so what makes this particular case different?
First, let me hedge by stating that I have yet to take/find the time to look at this case closely. As a matter of fact, I haven't read the appealed Case since the Do_Not_Call posts.
With that said, it is my understanding that the 9-5 restriction has already been ruled unconstitutional, and Stratton accordingly amended the ordinance to something reasonable, like "during daylight hours" or possibly "dawn to 9/10:00PM". (I can't recall.)
The issue the USSC is looking at is whether Stratton can require registration which forces solicitors to provide extensive personal info (supposedly so the city can either run background criminal checks up front, or have the ability to easily locate after the fact a solicitor who commits a crime), and which also requires solicitors to wear id badges, thus taking away someone's ability to anonymously disseminate their religious views door-to-door.
As for publicity, you don't have to worry. Local governments belong to state and national associations which keep them abreast of all laws pertaining to their circumstances. Besides, this ruling (no matter which way it goes) will get extensive news coverage.
As for ordinances in other cities, if you do a search, you will find most already have solicitation ordinances in force, but such simply are not enforced against JWs. If the USSC upholds Stratton, many cities will likely amend their present ordinances to match up with whatever the USSC says is const.

isp rightly commented the following, "the wts gets double payment for the mags from the r+f......so subscribers are not cost effective!".

I'm not upset with the question, just surprised you would think that I would throw down the gantlet without being prepared to defend my position.

I suppose that means you do understand, but that you just prefer to LIE!

Ozzie:
For someone who has been around for as long as you have, your comments in the post above demonstrate you have little or no understanding of what occurred after CTR's death.
The WTS version of events is far more accurate than yours.

Thanks to all for quoting some of excerpts. When posting the link, I really didn't have time to pull out the interesting tidbits, but I found this article to be very intersting, while presenting a very unique perspective.
The article and comments are well worth reading, and this is from someone who never reads anything about/from HKs, but for some reason allowed this webpage to catch my attention.
after reading puppylove's post, "a sad example of jw brainwashing /twisted thinking", and hearing very familiar comments, i have decided to relate an experience i had a few days ago, which i am leary to relate since the key factor severely limits the jw population of "possibles".
(details are purposefully sketchy to protect my identity.
a jw, who usually avoids me like the plague, placed themself in a position of being alone with me for a few hours due to their greedy desire to obtain something free.
Thanks everyone for your comments. It is likely that most of us here have had similar conversations with JWs with whom we were formerly associated, with precisely the same reaction.
I know that this is not the first time that I have had this conversation with a former friend, and receiving the exact same reaction and denial speech.
Of course, the point of posting such redundancy was that this particular conversation involved a highly intelligent, highly educated JW who has been associated off and on for many, many decades, and who experienced first hand everything associated with 1975.
I've seen this person's response from others whom one would expect to deny what happened; folks who weren't around in '75, folks who are easily persuaded for various reasons, etc.
However, I absolutely never anticipated that a person with this background to fall prey so completely to WTS brainwashing and rewriting of history.
Again, this was one of those personal moments for me, that I can't effectively communicate to others, that convinces me beyond a doubt that the WTS is not only "a" cult, but that it is "THE CULT", which sets the standards that all other cults seek to attain.

many have argued that articles in awake!
in recent years show that watchtower was letting itself be told what do by the purple beast, namely, promote the united nations in its writings.
i can understand how many might quickly find support for this claim, for there are, indeed, many articles in awake!
