nugget- Seriously? They made those changes(baptism question and apparel)? I had no idea! Wow, I'm speechless. I don't understand how people can't see through the system... I really hope more and more outrageous changes occer and cause some to open their eyes. Just sad stuff.

If People Told you the JW's Would Change These Beliefs & Practices.....
by flipper inwould you have believed it ?
( i give credit to the poster password protected for giving me the idea of this thread ) .. after exiting the witnesses in 2003 i have noticed many changes within the wt society which really surprised me but after analyzing the changes - they really have convinced me the wt society and jehovah's witnesses are a mind control cult intent on ruling people's lives.
here are some i have noticed that have changed :.

LOL, omg you guys are hillarious!
I should've clarified- During the time I was active back in Chicago we were actually encouraged to approach strangers walking around, no matter what they looked like, no matter if we just gave them a brochure or a magazine. They told us the point was to reach as many people as we could, and I did approach strangers and many others did. Which is why I was shocked to see how they acted, because I assumed it was a universal thing :p.
Funny thing, I was walking to the library today and saw them again- only this time it was the English speaking and they were older African American brothers and sisters. They did not speak to me, but they also did not snub me, they smiled at me but not condescendingly. I guess it's better this way, even if they don't talk to you, because it isn't as off putting as somebody looking down on you with pity, a stranger in the middle of the day giving you the stink eye.
You guys are right though, I should not lower my self to their level :p. Sometimes I get a little hot headed when people make assumptions about me (like, when you go to a fancy restaurant and the server is ignoring you and giving you terrible service because they see you all young looking and wearing band shirts, even though you can afford it and was willing to tip the server).
the_max- Whoa, that's an excellent suggestion!!! I'm telling the dog's daddy, see if he wants to go along with it >:)

Homeschooling and JW children
by Pams girl inhow many jw kids are homeschooled where you are?
its not very common here in the borough where i live.
i just found out on the grapevine that a girl i know is taking her kids out of our very good primary school because she feels the other children are having such a bad influence on her kids.

I know a girl who used to be homeschooled. She's two years younger, and she used to give me book study when I was eleven. In high school, her parents kept her home for freshman and sophmore year. It was a fact she was easy, did drugs, and I guess in her junior year she got put in public school for some reason. She ran among my circle, and was really pretty, but always seemed to be doing something against JW doctrines. Last I heard, her dad was still an elder and her brother a pioneer regardless of the knowledge of what the girl did.

For the last four days, every morning I take Donut out for her walk, I always find JW's preaching door to door across the street. I always cross to them, and wait with dread at what I think is inevitable: they will try to preach to me.
But it never happens. Four days, seen three diifferent groups, nothing. The young women always grin and turn their noses up (seriously, it looks ridiculous when they attempt it) and the older people just smile patronizingly at me. I wonder if this is a new tactic, ignore the young looking wordly people, or the ones that look really weird.
Anyway, it got me thinking: I would like to say something or do something at the snubbing. To be honest, it does hurt to see them completely ignore me. I would loove to go up to one of them and ask if it's a new doctrine or movement, just snub the worldly people you don't like, and if Jehovah would appreciate that.
Anybody got anything better? I do not want to be offensive, but I truly am curious as to why they see me all these days and snub me so batantly.

Numbers 3 and 4 had me really confused. For a while there, I thought number 3 was changed because of word getting out about the nearby, including our, congregations doing a social right afterward (like, people would bulldoze through the questions just so we could get to the delicious pastries and atoles). Number 4 was one of the things that made me uneasy- it was then I knew I'd never buy into this farce ever again (I don't buy their excuses. I think it's offensive).

Funniest JW memory?
by stillstuckcruz inperhaps something that happened in fs, the memorial, convention etc.
i need a laugh.
last year at the memorial, an old brother was so shaky in the hands, when he passed the wine it spilled all over him.

Funniest... people falling down when their chairs break because we were too cheap and went with the frail plastic ones for the book study. Kinda mean, but the fact that we tried so hard to keep going without bursting out laughing was great. You could hear brothers and sisters of all ages giggling or holding their sides, while the study conductor was stuttering and sweating like crazy.
Or when the microphones go off or make that terrible feedback noise. Good distractions.

Memorial musings
by undercover inthings i thought about during the memorial talk last night:.
i don't know if it was just the memorial i went to or if this was across the board, but it seems that the talk was dumbed down a bit more than it had been in the past.
not that it wouldn't surprise me if was dumbed down.

LOL at Winnie the Pooh. I'd cuddle it to death.
1) Harry Potter- "You are SUCH a moron sometimes."
2)Shin Chan- "You are SUCH a slut."
3)Roger the Alien- Well, I have a friend who IS Roger, so I guess I got my wish granted. He even does voice impersonations of him!

I'm in a relationship with a small man, and I myself don't occupy too much space so.... I say yeah, size DEFNITELY matters. It's not a good feeling when you're half asleep and you fall into the ground because your SO and your pug are taking up all the space.
Also: farts.

Agree with exwhyzee. Kids definitely become jaded if given too much.
I always love to see a spoil kid fall. Especially fall hard. I like to think it's karma, but then, karma might get me back from rejoicing in their temporary missery.
