i'm 2 days into a leo (leading empowered organisations) study programme away from my job with 16 other managers and despite usually hating study days away, have thoroughly enjoyed the course content.
i never thought that a study course could/would get me to think about my style of management and how to be an effectual leader.
its an american course, that has been slightly adapted to suit an english audience, and its fantastic.. anyway, the course leader gave me a book to read last night called "who moved my cheese" by dr. spencer johnson, it only takes about an hour to read, but it has to be one of the best reads i've ever seen.
Yeah Hem Haw, Sniff and Scurry!!
Give it a read Sally too!

Anyway, the course leader gave me a book to read last night called "Who Moved My Cheese" by Dr. Spencer Johnson, it only takes about an hour to read, but it has to be one of the best reads I've ever seen. This is on the back of the book:-
"Who Moved My Cheese? is a simple parable that reveals profound truths. It is an amusing and enlightening story of four characters who live in a maze and look for cheese to nourish them and make them happy.
Cheese is a metaphor for what you want to have in life-- whether its a good job, a loving relationship, money or a possession, health or spiritual peace of mind. And the maze is where you look for what you want- the organisation you work in, or the family or the community you live in. Discover the secret for yourself and learn how to deal with change, so that you suffer less stress and enjoy more success in your work and in life."
I read this and thought, crap. It won't make me think any different. Yet was amazed at how its changed the way I think about what I perceive as stress at work.
Anyway I don't want to go on....but wondered if anyone had read it, if not, I just wanted to recommend it, if you're a bit of a stress-head like me!!. It really is a great little book. There is a link www.whomovedmycheese.com

i dropped out years ago because i couldn't stand getting together with sisters i didn't like to do a talk.
i hated it with a passion!!
i do realize that you did learn but what i resented was that the sisters were inflicted on each other in a way that i don't think the brothers were.
Didn't like it then as I hated talking to an audience. Still hate talking to an audience now, just seem to lose my bottle.
