there have been many posters here who said they heard jw's have been challenged quite a bit during field service due to the increased exposure of the watchtower pedophile news that has been circulating around the news media.

here in the philadelphia area, we have a two major newspapers and neither one of them has ever printed anything on this subject.

with the exception of dateline and connie chung, there would be no information for the public here to learn of this.

Can't comment on the Philadelphia area, but as far as it goes over here in England following the BBC Panorama report, there has been according to witnesses I have spoken too, no mention of that programme in field service from householders, colleagues at work that know of my beliefs, and those that had seen the programme thought that the Panorama report was very one sided, although tragic that those victims involved in abuse at the hands of a few elders that mishandled cases merits attention and action, without a doubt, the general consencus is that as much as SilentLambs wants to portray it........the Organisation just isn't a hiding place for paedophiles as they state. It is not the responsibilty of elders to report to the police or authorities, that must surely rest on the parents to report, and it is this that the organisation encourages them to do. There is no threat of d/f or shunning as I have heard other posters say, as loving parents this is their duty.

Who Wrote "Thirty Years A Watchtower Slave...

when i was recently making a list of the reference books in my personal collection, i recalled that there was this book that the witnesses were afraid of.

i was in my early twenties, and this fellow in the congregation had upset all the elders because he had read this book (thirty years a watchtower slave) and he tried to tell everyone he came across that the witnesses were wrong.

there was absolutely nothing wrong with this man.

What's with the new Luxurious K.H's?!

i spent the better part of yesterday afternoon driving from one k.h.

to the next here in the dallas area (hey you current jw's in dallas, those lambs and flyers were from me!

) and was shocked to find the congregation i attended with my family, central/white rock, is now some oriental temple!

Forgive me Lin, but for someone who has left the Witnesses and no longer subscribes to their beliefs, spending all afternoon driving around viewing Kingdom Halls seems a little bizarre...........I really still for the life of me cannot understand why those who have supposed to have "moved on" on this site and found a better life outside, keep being fascinated by the Witnesses. Its sort of a reverse of Witnesses viewing apostate sites, they get chastised for that, in your case Lin though, in the nicest possible way, maybe you ought to get out more.

i use the emoticons, even put in the space, but nothing comes out except the black letters, not the coloured emotions, i must be doing something wrong.

Too many of them to remember.......... 1 in particular though was from a couple of years back whilst I was on holiday in Greece .....I spotted some ancient old and sun wizzened greek man standing in a town square on market day with a copy of the greek watchtower in his hand, I couldn't resist it and had to go up to him, after much gesturing with me pointing at the magazine and then pointing at me, suddenly the penny dropped....for someone who had the physical dimensions of Yoda, he sure had a firm hug, and wouldn't let go for ages whilst tears rolled down his face. The language barrier was there, but so was the love too. I haven't forgotten that, and I never knew his name.
