Letter to old Cong
by mattnoel inok so some weeks back i send a letter to my old cong, it stated quite a few points which were very serious, some of them would cause certain members of the cong to be diss'd and asking for an explanation as to why certain things happened i.e stepfather throwing mother down the stairs whilst drunk but mother getting reproved etc etc.
also raised was the issue of the data protection act and wanting a copy of the files held on me and also stating that the baptism is nul and void.
it was about 5 pages long and i also sent it to various members of the cong.. a week ago i get an e mail from a witness stating that i was out of order - my letter was obviously exagerated and lied about to make me a "mad apostate" aparantly in the letter i have admited to keeping a written record of goings on, i blame the society wholey for my mothers death and i have apparantly sent it to the press.. a couple of days ago i get a reply from the cong and guess what it says, pretty much please forward a cheque for 10 along with proof of id and we will send you the records and thats it !!!!!

They die for their country/president. prime-minister in what they believe to be right. She chose to give her life to Jehovah in what she felt to be right, don't give her any less respect. and do you think that the witnesses in general are just as devout today as they were 10 or 20 years ago?

Rebel. I honestly do feel for you if you are having problems in your life or matters of conscience. I don't know your personal circumstances, and more importantly how you are feeling right now, so what I say, I say with respect, and do not wish to hurt you "any further" than you already may feel. You really have to make that decision about what you want to do, or maybe you just need to stand back and take a breather. If you do feel that you no longer want to follow what your husband tells you, or more importantly how you feel, then that has to be your choice. He is quoting to you from the Bible what Jesus said about those who would "disown" Him. I am sure he tells you this because he loves you and is trying to get you to see why he believes that which he does. Jesus did say as you quote that all must follow Him whole souled, and this is what your husband believes he is doing in following the JWs, I have to agree with him on this. I haven't followed that direction, hence I stay away, so as not to be "disrespectful" this coupled with my easy ol' life of doing as I please, and it is more than easy to sustain. Many here will tell you of how awful the JWs are and the experiences they have had with them, some in only for a few months, others over many many years.I'd never intentionally try to discredit these people, most are far more more experienced than me. And many have very sad stories to tell. You must however learn to take this experience and many others within the context its set. This is an ex JW forum, you will hear what you may want to hear here,if that fits with you. This forum will never be mainstream and will always remain a smaller dissenting group within the "main" of JWs. In turn JWs will always remain a small dissenting group within society at large.
What you have to do Rebel, is decide exactly what you want for yourself. Listen to this group here and find many good people, but equally listen to your husband too, and try and see what he is trying to tell you. You have to live your life rebel, and choose just what feels comfortable to you at the end of the day. Eitherway, there will always be someone who will give you a hearing ear, and some help when you need it, so try not to worry!!. and take care. Scott

True, ....guess I should be thankfull that it wasn't in the "small print" though as you say/quote. I think on "joining" we all knew what the terms were for "cancel" and "suspend your account" Guess its about taking responsibility for your own actions. I think thats what many have difficulty with coming to grips with. Just my opinion of course. Even if "The JC procedures have nothing to do with the Bible" as said, they were still there. I like to think I went in to it with my eyes open......

J.H. With all due respect, I'm not sure most here would be able to give you a fair assesment to your question, most have been out or are in the process of getting out and have a grievance with the WBTS on this forum (surely this couldn't have escaped you!) and so may not be able to provide a clear picture as to young ones being devout. I wouldn't be able to answer the question, all I could say was that there are thousands of younger people I saw at the convention in the summer, like last year and in years before, but I couldn't tell you if they were "devout"...how do you judge that? Its a strange word, and is difficult to gage.
