WATCHTOWER STUDY EYE-OPENER!
by The Searcher inat the start of today'swatchtower study, i did a little mental exercise - every time the words 'god' or 'jehovah' appeared, i substituted them with the words, 'the organization'.. if you are going to a meeting today, try it, and see how very different (and truthful!
) the watchtower study becomes!

A Saturday Knock on the Door & the JWN Forum
by kepler inthis is, of course, a recurrent topic that's made possible whenever a kingdom hall decides to march out on your neighborhood and street.. today it happened again in my neighborhood as a drum up for the memorial observance scheduled for monday the 14th of april.. why christ's passion and death should be observed on a monday of holy week i failed to ask this morning.
perhaps someone else might like to volunteer, but it seemed just another reason to be sceptical about the whole thing, though hardly ranking with changing ancient chronologies to get jerusalem's temple destruction 2520 years before 1914.. anyway two gentlemen in white shirts and ties greeted me politely enough at my door and presented me with a flyer about an event which they described as momentous.
they asked me if i had ever intended one and i assented.

Why Christ's passion and death should be observed on a Monday of Holy Week
Do you mean how do they pick the day to celebrate? They always observe it after sundown on the day that corresponds to Nissan 14th or 15th (I forget which). I just know it is usually on the first full moon after the spring equinox.

Cosmos--any creationists watching? And what does EVEryONE think of it?
by Jon Preston ini just finished the episode about the extinctions and the tree of life and how life evolved.
my wife asked me "what, do u believe in evolution now?
because im watching a science show?

I hope somebody understands my point.
will be apostate I do.
I find that science is often portrayed as if it is a fact or a proven theory even when there is no possible way they could know for a certainty. Certainly there are many scientists who aren’t like that but it bugs me when someone says they know for a fact what happened billions of years ago billions of miles away.
And I bet your 50% prediction is way too optimistic.Of course I won't likely be here to pay up....
Just an fyi that I didn't watch the show yet.

JWs are into guerilla marketing who knew? Almost seems a bit clever. They know that nobody will come over and talk and they know that if it said jehovah’s witnesses on the sign or in the URL nobody would go to the website. But jw.org is easy to remember and might just get a few curious ones to head over on their mobile device after seeing it. Might work even better if they would get rid of the creepy guy hiding behind the pictures.
It seems a little deceptive to me. Did Jesus use tricks to when he did his preaching?
Wonder if we will start seeing jw.org signs around the conventions in years to come. Oh wait this is the last year there will be a memorial so it stands to reason it’s the last year there will be conventions as well.

Should Passive Resistance Be The Weapon Of Choice For Those Stuck In The Watchtower Corporation Cult?
by frankiespeakin inwhat can a person do who is stuck in the watchtower cult movement but don't want to be shunned or disfellowshipped but want to follow a course of passive resistants, like ghandi did to the brits to get them out of control over india?.

Stop using WTBTS indoctrinated thought-stopping platitudes when talking with JWs and non-JWs. Help other JWs stop using thought-stopping platitudes by asking JWs simple questions when they use those platitiudes.
I like that one.

My mom is out and I couldn’t keep up with her if I wanted to. She joined some over the hill gang and they are always doing something, biking, tennis, skiing, cruises.
I keep telling her to be careful, because if she gets hurt and needs constant care I plan on putting her into one of those homes I saw on a 60 minutes undercover sting operation.

What was the most rebellious thing you did while you were a devout jw?
by DuvanMuvan ini was just thinking about how humans being imperfect and satan's influence was the root of everything bad that anyone has ever done.
well i know that apparently everyone is vulnerable which got me thinking about what "bad" things people have done while they were a jw.
i'll start it off.

Hmm I don't think I was a very good JW.
I drank too much fairly regularly. I drove like a maniac. I played Zelda, a D&D game much worse than poor sparloc. I had long hair at least for a JW. I swore a lot, so much so that worldly people commented on it. I had a short temper. Very disrespectful to older people, not old people, I always respected them.
Oddly that wasn’t any of the stuff I felt guilty over.

Scriptural Grounds for Divorce - Unbelievable story
by Comatose ini personally know the individual involved closely, this is not a rumor.
this is what happens when you let three unqualified guys decide whether or not you get to ever date again with jehovah's blessing.. a young man finds out his wife is cheating on him by seeing texts on her phone.
he knows the person she is cheating with.

I feel like the elders in this case didn't know their own rules. Instead of bothering to figure it out they just let the poor dub suffer knowing he has to suck it up and wait on Jehovah.
Elders (including the FDS) make mistakes
Wait on Jehovah!
RNF dubs make mistakes.
Three elders drag you into a judicial hearing because when they get together Jehovah answers them instantly.

When and where is the War in Heaven, supposedly?
by jam in1)when did this war breakout or did i miss it.. many commentators conclude that the battle between michael.
and the dragon occurs roughly at the start of the church age.. some even argue that the battleground is the church itself.. others say this scene describes the dispute between michael.
and satan for the body of moses (jude 9) or the long-ago.

I found a few evil spirits referenced in the OT
Interestingly all were sent by God
1 Samuel 16:14 Now the spirit of Jehovah had departed from Saul, and a bad spirit from Jehovah terrorized him
1 Samuel 18:10 The next day a bad spirit from God gripped Saul, and he started to act strangely inside the house, while David was playing music on the harp as on other occasions.
1 Samuel 19:9 And a bad spirit from Jehovah came upon Saul when he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand, while David was playing music on the harp.Judges 9:23 Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech
