Is Watchtower's position on smoking consistent with its position on masturbation?

watchtower considers masturbation to be a form of uncleanness but not a disfellowshipping offence because the bible says nothing about masturbation.

a jw who masturbates is likely to face no more than losing privileges in the congregation.. like masturbation, smoking is considered by jws to be a form of uncleannes and like masturbation, the bible says nothing about it.

but a jw who smokes faces disfellowshipping.. yes, smoking is known to be deleterious to a person's health whereas the jury is still out on the adverse health effects of masturbation.

confuzzlediam if that is true that is unusual. And outside of the fact that it seems to have gotten you out of the cult you could have contested it. You can contest it and they bring in an outside body of elders, and you can contest it again and then they bring in a CO or something to that effect.

The sad part about disfellowshipng is that feeling guilty and having low self esteem over sinning seems to be one of the primary reasons for being considered unrepentant.

When my friend found out I got DFed he told me I should have played up how sorry I was for the elders. Then he said that the elders are only men and can make mistakes. He was considered a mature JW and is likely an elder now. I was really surprised by his statement. If he really believed that then I didn't understand how could he be a JW in the first place.

what DO current Jws say at doors?

i mean, anyone with a real bible and half a brain doesn't need to log onto a website and read nonsense.. its not a bible study when you present someone a book or magazine to read along in.. its not the gospel, when its not about jesus.

so what is being pushed in the service meeting to be done at doors?.

and with what result expected?

Christmas markets - apparently fine for JW's to attend

this has got me really wound up and i feel the need to post.

our friend an ex jw has just returned from a famous christmas market in germany, now my husband mentioned this to his mum as they have connections there.

she got all excited about how amazing the german christmas markets are there and how she would of def gone to one this year if she had the time!

Must be OK to get your picture taken on Santa's lap as long as it isn't on Christmas eve.

We used to inadvertently have a turkey on thanksgiving and pray we got an inch of snow so we could cancel the meeting.

JW Broadband???

the congregation my parents belong to (they live in ireland) has been having a massive refurbishment recently.

apparently the congregation wanted to spend about 20k euro, but the society pushed for spending 100k euro "so that they won't have to do it again in 10 years time".. .

anyway, my dad was talking about changing his broadband provider, and he mentioned that he was going to wait, because some brothers came to his house with an aerial and they can receive the kingdom hall's new broadband.

Should your father be leeching off the KH's broadband that other people are paying for (through their donations)?

Well he did.Say that if he got it "from the brothers" it would only cost him 10 Euro a month.

Plot twist, Looks like the KH is selling access to the broadband that other people are paying for....
