I suspect I am actually better off from being raised as a JW. Neither of my parents were into parenting so I think being a JW may have keep me out of trouble.
Admittedly I probably had it pretty good as a JW too.
There was enough people around age in my area that I could pick and choose my friends.
I got to spend time with people from several different walks of life, both race and affluence.
My dad was an elder, which in itself is proof that god directs nothing in the JW world. But being an elder's child definitely has benefits.
And I got out early enough in life to get a job, save for the future and do a few of those things I was putting off until the new system.

The bird that had options to leave, but chose to be mentally enslaved
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe watchtower—study edition | august 1, 2001. make your advancement manifest.
8 first, since “oneness” is to be observed, a mature christian must be in unity and full harmony with fellow believers as far as faith and knowledge are concerned.
he does not advocate or insist on personal opinions or harbor private ideas when it comes to bible understanding.

The JW birds would see the missing metal bars and say they need to wait on Jehovah to replace them.

Mt 10:18 / JWdom
by Magnum inmt 10:18 (nwt):.
and you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a witness to them and the nations.. how has this worked out for jwdom?
i always got the impression that jws would be brought before governments and would give some kind of grand, impressive witness.

Witnesses carefully rehearse all their preaching speeches. And they always prepare for the courts, using the services of lawyers.
Good point. -

How many TRUE BELIEVERS do you think are left in the Organization?
by pistolpete ini have a few jw relatives who are true believers.
by this i mean, they believe with all their heart that 1914 was the beginning of the last days, that this is the last generation, that we are in the very last of the last hour of this system of things, and that you should obey the governing body even if it does not make sense.
all of them are in their 60s and up into their 90s there is nothing you can say or show them to convince them or even cause a small doubt that the wt is not god organization.

I sometimes wonder how many would stay if they actually stopped and thought about how living forever would play out. I'm not saying I wouldn't like a few more years, but forever is very long time, even if you get to play with Pandas.

I have read and re read acts chap.15 and for the life of me I can't find the part about the 1st century governing body!
by nowwhat? ini cannot find the verse where it talks about several self appointed men that went behind closed doors to render their decision regarding circumcision.
all i see is that it was the apostles, older men and the congregation that came to a decision.
perfect example of why we need the governing body today.

And without them how would we know that when Jesus said "For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” that he meant only if they are using GB approved literature.

What I find disturbing is the encouragement from the organization to ultimately be lazy and steal from productive people
I assume these are the same people that will be helping to turn the earth back into a paradise after the big A?
Can you imagine any of those people having to figure out how to take care of themselves in that situation?

No stimulus Check unless section 230 is repealed.
by pistolpete inpresident donald trump’s push for $2,000 covid-19 relief checks all but died wednesday as senate majority leader mitch mcconnell proposed an alternative approach of loading up the bill with other white house priorities that appeared destined to fail.
one priority was for congress to repeal section 230. question: just what is section 230?
answer: if a news site falsely calls you a swindler, you can sue the publisher for libel.

Sad part is it will really affect innovation. FB can afford to fight the lawsuits new startups with good ideas not so much.

review 1 Timothy 5:3-21
What a horrible application of that scripture.
It applies only to widows with several catches.
Only over 60, no other family, must be a sycophant, and god forbid you became a widow twice.
So pretty much find a reason not to help.
And not sure if it's just me but that chapter seems to be saying the Elders should be getting paid
