  I don't think they have anyone in the back pocket. I think it is that religion is exempt from scrutiny under most circumstances. The fact that they are getting in trouble at all says something.
  

  Who was that talk show host that showed how easy it is to set up a religion in the US.

  They went and talked to a lawyer and just by having the talk show they already covered many of the legal requirements.

  Memorial Prep question

  so are individual witnesses being told to prepare bread and have wine on hand for the zoom memorial?

  are they saying it’s “vital” or is it just a “suggestion?” .

  Thanks FFGhost. I guess the easy choice is the Kosher stuff since there's no thinking involved.

  I just remember that bottle of Manischewitz was always in the fridge at my house the day after the memorial. Well it probably didn't actually make it to the next day.

  I assume the wine still needs to be Kosher i.e. made under the supervision of someone that doesn't believe in Jesus?

  does anybody know if the borg has ever done any articles on what day of the week they think jesus died?

  i know most denominations think it was friday and i have also heard somewhat sensible arguments that it could be wednesday.

  not that it matters weather one in a believer or not even.

  They probably never did because it is already a controversy. They seem to only chime in when they think they are the ones with the inside scoop. Like the explanation that Jesus didn't die on a cross because it was a pagan symbol, even though the people putting him to death likely didn't care about such things.

  after you read the words of jesus in mark 2: 17, you will see that the contrast between the teachings of jesus and the governing body.. .

  you clearly read what's written in the bible, but the society is always twisting and bending scriptures to their benefit.

  I find myself wondering if they don't realize that their end is in sight and all this craziness is an effort to wake up as many people as possible without causing mass suicides.

  It seems like a fairly humane way to do things. Make it so crazy people start waking up and any young person would want to get out as fast as possible. Take ownership of all the property so there won't be any fighting over it at the local level. Consolidate and sell off properties to raise cash for the lawsuits and try to keep enough money around to keep things running until all the hardcore, never leaving JWs die off.

  Or maybe they know it is BS and are just trying to live the rest of their lives in relative comfort while watching the whole thing fall apart.

  Rotator Cuff Surgery: Anybody Have Experience?

  my husband is going in on tuesday to have surgery to repair a badly torn rotator cuff on his right shoulder.

  he is right handed.. he's 51 and is great about exercising and staying in shape.

  however, while doing push ups, his shoulder just snapped.

  The Oxy they gave me did nothing for the pain so I saved them up and used them for fun on the weekends. I'd take 3 in the afternoon and space out for the rest of the day.

  I definitely don't think they should be giving Oxy to anyone. I was obsessing over them for months after I stopped taking them. I didn't ask for a refill for fear of getting addicted and my doctor told me most people have a lot more pain than I did. I suspect they were just looking for another refill
  

  One warning, don't take a sleeping pill after stopping Oxy. I didn't sleep while taking it but didn't care. I didn't sleep after stopping and it was terrible. Taking a sleeping pill made it much much worse.

  When I was in I would have said 100% yes I believe it. If anyone tried to convince me otherwise I would have turned them in or covered my ears and run away like a good JW.
  

  Looking back I accepted it as the truth without any verification whatsoever.

  In my defense, although I was raised as a JW, I was really only a believer for 5-10 years.

  I spent most of my life not paying attention at meetings or family study. I got baptized at 18 or 19 having no clue what I was agreeing to. I got DFed at 27 or so. A few years later I finally did my verification and learned TTAT.

  Congregation Letter - 2021 Magazines Delayed???

  we had a letter read in our cong.

  last week that said the public wt and awake would be delayed during the beginning of 2021. meaning we would just use the 2020 version into 2021 and there would be no new ones at the beginning of 2021 until an undetermined time sometime during the 1st half of 2021. at least that is the gist that i remember.

  it was in what atlantis provided but there was no further detail....very brief.. any more intel or speculation on this?

  what is the most insensitive thing an overseer or elder has ever said and done to you?

  i have had many insensitive things said to me by some elders, but for some reason one self-righteous elder was always on my case.

  he didn't like the fact that i missed meetings, didn't like that i never went out in field service, that i didn't answer at the weekly meetings and he didn't like that i carried my books and magazines in my hands and not a service/book bag.
