I hate unicode....
i just tried to paste the link from a concordance but i guess it doesn't work on here but if you look up the hebrew word "hovah" it means ruin and disaster... given that, do you think jehovah is an appropriate thing to be calling the lord god?.

jehovah's witness doesn't vote, so she can't get liquor license.
veronica brown, who is applying for a liquor license, said she was stunned to learn about the requirement.
but she said that voting is adverse to her beliefs as a jehovah's witness and that registering to vote and then not voting would be hypocritical.. http://www.omaha.com/article/20120613/news01/706139915/-1.
steve2 Did the reporters ascertain she wasn't under the influence of alcohol at the time she spoke to them?
since i left the jw's in 2008. i have since struggled with feelings of anger at people in power and religous leaders.i feel that in this world you just can not trust anybody.i have given up trying to see the good in people and i just feel deattached from people..
Try meditation\Self hypnosis, it helped me and there are tons of videos on youtube these days. Some are better than others try a few till you find a couple that work. And if they stop working find some new ones. And don't expect your first few times to be successful.
If you are still scared of hypnosis from being a jw learn about it a bit more because it is nothing like what the Watchtower describes.
Read "a practical guide to self-hypnosis" by melvin powers. It is free on Amazon and Itunes and demystifies hypnosis. No, the demons won't attack you if you hypnotize yourself in fact you go into a hypnotic trance on a regular basis without even knowing it.
I felt the same way for a long time What I needed to figure out was how to put me first because everyone is out for themselves. If they are doing something nice for you they are getting something out of it. Even if that something is just feeling good about themselves for helping someone.* I don't mean that in a cynical way it is just human nature. It is up to you to figure out what you need and get it and stop thinking you have to please other people. The jdubs have it hammered into their heads all the time that they have to please Jehovah by acting a certain way and that is hard habit to break when you are in the real world. It is very hard to get in the habit of doing what is best for you. But once you do you won't care about the so called leaders because you will know what is best for you and you will do that.
There are a number of Tony Robin's videos on youtube and I find his idea to associate your good emotions with things you want and associate bad emotions with things you want to stop doing very interesting. Listen to the Awaken The Giant Within video. He has some good advice on how to stop the mental chatter.
Why am I sharing this with you? Because it makes me feel good to help someone else overcome the same problems I had and hopefully do it more quickly than I did.
*Parents with their children might be the exception to this rule. I have no kids of my own but I have had people make a convincing argument for it.
after the date, she emailed me and she said "you are the best", but we never dated again.
is it a code phrase or something?
i emailed her back after her email and tried to date her again, but i never heard from her again and someone told me very recently that she is still alive and doing fine.
transhuman68 You made me think of this

I hope your wife doesn't find out
it took me a long time to write this....i'm being brutally honest...i am still a reg pioneer...three sundays ago,i was praying and asking god for a sign or something because i was so confused...i told him exactly what i needed to see for me to believe.i was feeling terrible--crying and feeling sick because i was so confused.ten minutes after, i walked into the kingdom hall and to my surprise--my prayer was answered!
i soooo wasn't expecting it, even though i prayed.
so this is where almighty god wants me to be,ii've reasoned.
This post makes me think of how few people think about the consequences of joining the JWs. You have to give up your family friends, holidays free time etc.... But it is a very big decision when it comes time to leave. Joining and staying is all about emotions and has nothing to do with facts. But leaving is quite the opposite.

How was your prayer answered?
i was raised in a city hall.
it was pretty evenly split.
i wasn't raised in a blacks vs. whites environment.
I remember as teenagers (late 70s early 80s) we used to use off color jokes and such. I don't think it was in a spirit of prejudice I had a couple black friends and never thought of them differently. My behavior was just being young and stupid. However I don't remember any adults having anything to say about it and they probably should have. As XBEHERE pointed out we certainly weren't acting any better than those non-double bags
I do remember my mom talking with me when she heard me use the N word and I'm pretty sure that was the last time I ever used it in that context. That was when I was really young and had no clue what it meant. (early mid 70s)

howdy guys and lovely gals,.
we all know the watchtower society likes to dabble around with the quotes they insert into the literature, so here is another prime example of just how good they are at it!.
http://www.jehovahswitnessblog.com/science/jehovahs-witnesses-misleading-literature/.
it would be “almost infinitely harder to discover genes for behavioral disorders.”
Are you saying that they are trying to imply that this scientist is saying it is impossible to find these genes because they don't exist?
I can see that, without that being purpose the quote doesn't really back up their point.
I have a feeling half of it is just laziness, they have to put out this drivel every two weeks. Who has time to make sure it all makes sense
I would agree that they are pretty much calling the kettel black with this quote:
Would it not be a relief to find that we are not responsible for our actions but are merely victims of biology? It is human nature to blame someone or something else for our errors.
Don't jdubs pretty much blame Satan for all their "errors"?
