What allows parents to shun their children ?

my son, went to college and got his bachelors degree.

he started his own anmation company about two years ago, and it really has taken off.. while my wife and i were witnesses, we both received grief about allowing our son to go to college, but we stood up for him and backed his decision to attend 110%.. anyway, this past week he finally closed on a very nice, neat condiminium .. and while he is getting ready to move out on his own, i have quite a few feelings of sadness,as a parent, seeing him move on is kinda rough, but realizing that this is a very good thing for him makes it easier.

And if they had any residual love left over the borg systematically takes it away.

You aren't allowed to do any of the normal things to show your children you love them. Such as Xmas and the birthday restriction is beyond ridiculous.

Yea I'm sure Jehovah put those examples in the bible to warn you against celebrate the miracle of birth.

I'm pretty sure those scriptures are better explained with a Dave Barry quote:

"There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to
make a big deal about your birthday. That time is: age 11."

And you spend your whole time in the borg being suspicious of everyone.
I was always afraid to get close to anyone, I knew that any day I might be told never to speak to them again.

The major difference is that the organizations you mention don't generally require blind obediance where the JWs do.

If a Catholic taks negative about the church in public two men don't show up at your house and threaten to cut you off from all your friends and family.

Even if you get kicked out of the church your friends and family are not instructed to have nothing to do with you under the threat of losing their friends and family.

That being said I think that most of the world is under some sort of mind control. Not in the we are all zombies kind of way, but I think that the goverments know a lot of things that they are not telling us and that they use information to control the masses.

Come on! How is it that the entire world thinks that working 40 hours a week, for 40 or 50 years to make someone else rich is a good idea?

I am a bit of a conspiracy theorist though

Thoughts After Saturday Morning Service

went out with a good friend in service this morning.

my spouse and kiddos joined us.

me and my spouse are awake jws, have gotten over the initial shock and disgust with some of the lame wt doctrine, and are determined to let god direct us wherever he may (even to another church - i'm going to a baptist service tommorow).. we have fun doing a little bit of service with the kiddos, letting them watch deer, play with sticks, and write not-at-homes down.

I've known a few people I supected were there just because they liked something about being a JW rather than actualy believing it.

On the same line of reasoning I have often wondered about the mormons too. What possess smart educated people to believe that stuff.

these guys believe that they are running and directing "god's organization" and it is all based on some flimsy parable interpetation about a master who left a slave in charge while he went away with the outcome uncertain upon his return.

not a very solid case to be pointedly honest.

jesus would have made a better choice of donald trump to run his father's business/watchtower corporation, he's less arrogant and doesn't discourage higher education, and plastic children's toys are not a major concern of his.. what is arrogance?.

You might just be right, what you hate can say a lot about you. And he did make a comment about the other brother's body so obviously he was looking.

I also find those tight jeans rather disgusting but I just figured it was because I'm getting old and bitter

i'm sure topics like this have already come up but they tend to get hilarious with the absolute absurdity that goes on in the kh.

i was once counseled for not shaving after two days.

i was also counseled by a sister for eating lucky charms cereal.

One time my car got stuck on the soft shoulder. I found an old rotten piece of wood in a field nearby and used to to help get me unstuck. When we were done an elder told me that I needed to put the wood back where I got it. I refused and just tossed on the side of the road and drove off.

He even called my dad later to complain.

One day in FS the group asked whose care we could use. When nobody spoke up I said we could use mine but but I'm going to need people to chip in for gas money. An elder took me aside and called me arrogant. Quite funny because he never seemed offered to use his car.

Jehovah's witnesses unknown trinity belief

it occurred to me that jws have a form of the trinity that they do believe in.

first they believe that jesus is the son of god, they then also believe that jesis is michael the archangel, and finally they believe that jesus is abbadon the angel of the abyss in revelation.

has anyone ever conversed with a jw about these three things?.
