Avoid Going back to the JW's - Educate Yourself about Mind Control
by flipper ini've talked with some good friends on the board about this before and we seem to be in agreement : one reason ( among many ) that some disfellowshipped jw's go back and return to the wt organization is because they are full of uneeded guilt or uneeded fear because they haven't educated themselves about how the wt society uses mind control tactics to deceive them into thinking they have " nowhere else to go " .
i understand that some dfed ones may go back to the organization for family and friends- however- it's an exrecise in futility because once you learn the truth about the truth you cannot undo what you heard.
so some may just go back and live a fake jw life to appease family- but just think of how that can damage a person's emotional and mental health playing the fake jw game the rest of their lives !

New Release, 2014 JW Research Guide - up to date doctrine
by EndofMysteries ini just noticed on jw org they have a publication called the 2014 jw research guide.
browsing the topics, you can see it's the up to date doctrine.
one category for example is 'recreation and entertainment' and it's filled with gems referenced for research for jws, articles such as, "keep leisure in it's proper place", "why won't my parents let me have fun?

"Why won't my parents let me have fun?"
Was the answer "because then getting a new tract at the DC wouldn't be the most exciting thing in your life"?

Anybody watching the show Resurrection?
by mynameislame inresurrection.
the lives of the people of arcadia, missouri, are forever changed when their deceased loved ones return.. .
so far it seems to be an interesting take on the subject.

I'm getting ready to watch episode 2 on my DVR tonight....
the ressurected can't be children and such
What? So children that die will be resurected as adults or not at all? Bet you'll never hear them mention that in the door to door work.
That was something that creeped me out thinking about the new system. It would be weird if there were no children.
The show made me think how much more reasonable it would be if God were to resurrect people and reverse the aging process for the ones that were going to live forever. But the ones that aren't going to survive will just grow old and die naturally. Hey if we are fantasizing might as well make it a happy fantacy. If that were the case the dubs wouldn't have any use for their disturbing armageddon pictures.

how would you feel if the end came soon? Like next year?
The real question is; how would you feel if, after spending your entire life as a JW, you find out it isn't true?
If you are ok with that then you might be in the right place.
I personally didn't have a bad time as a JW but there came a time for me to start living my life differently.

I remember watching a Tom Cruise interview a while back. When they brought up the scientologists you could physically see his defenses kicking in. Exactly the same way it would happen for me when I was a dub.

I've never seen this scripture quoted in the WT
by UnConfused in1 cor 10:27. if an unbeliever invites you and you want to go, eat whatever is set before you, making no inquiry on account of your conscience.. .
.
i suppose that would mean it's ok to go eat with unbelievers?.

Island Man,
Couldn't you apply this to the ever-dreaded Birthday cake? Lol
That is exactly one of the places they\we used it. If somone brought extra cake to work and we didn't know it was birthday cake we could eat it.

Power taken from the Annointed?
by thedepressedsoul inbefore the recent change, faithful and discreet slave represented every anointed individual that partook.
anyone who was or claimed to be anointed was part of this faithful class.
however, a problem arose with this.

Regarding the captcha It is odd because on all my browsers, except one, it is always easy to read numbers plus the little image.
I am wondering if they keep track of me and make it easier since they have seen me before. This seems to be the case anyplace I have to use a captcha.
Also on a side note you don't need to type in the little image that has lately looked like house numbers. If that is the letters you are having problems with.
The reCAPTCHA service supplies subscribing websites with images of words that optical character recognition (OCR) software has been unable to read. The subscribing websites (whose purposes are generally unrelated to the book digitization project) present these images for humans to decipher as CAPTCHA words, as part of their normal validation procedures. They then return the results to the reCAPTCHA service, which sends the results to the digitization projects.
Does Simon get paid for that? If so i'll start entering them otherwise if I'm not getting paid I'm not helping out :-)
Are any of the FDS even anointed anymore? From their own rules that isn't likely. That does seem to be quite a problem for them. How do they justfiy it? I guess i never much paid attention to it when I was in so maybe it has never been the case.

It does inadvertenly seem to pose some issues for the JW teachings. I wonder how they would explain it away? Maybe if your bible study invites you to stay for dinner? And does that mean it is ok to eat meat that wasn't bled properly as long as you don't ask?
If it was me, I would kind of hope that they made some pot brownies but didn't tell me.

It's the orginal don't ask don't tell
27 If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience. 28 But if someone says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, both for the sake of the one who told you and for the sake of conscience
