Photography and HDR
by ILoveTTATT inas i have mentioned before, i love photography, and specially a technique called hdr.
hdr stands for high dynamic range, and it means the ratio of the "lightness" of the lightest spot in the picture to the darkest.. .

Interesting Choice of Words
by piztjw ini get into words, and why certain words are used, and the meaning of certain words as they are used, especially by the wt&t$.
i noticed the way this statement about relief work in the phillipines news article on j.worg was written:.
"an estimated 15 to 20 percent of those seeking refuge at the site are non-witnesses.".

It does seem odd to call them non-Wittnesses even if it wasn't to demean them in some way. Maybe just a PR move written by one of the "10 years of reading the Awake" educated JWs.
Honestly that number seems rather low considering, as snare&racket and AudeSapere pointed out, that many of these are likely non-baptised children and mates. And it didn't say they were permitted to enter, just that they were seeking refuge. Wonder if that has any meaning?

Eccentric Jehovah's Witnesses
by snowbird inso as not to hijack logcon's thread about crazy things jw's have said to householders, i'd like to start one about just plain old odd jw's.. for example, i knew this dear, dear senior brother who would carry a small bag of peanuts in one pocket of his suit coat and a small plastic bag of brown sugar in the other.. during that time, we would stay out all day long because the territory was extensive.. can't you just picture that precious soul alternately tossing a few peanuts/crumbs of sugar into his mouth as he schlepped from house to trailer, from trailer to house?.
the householders would usually offer us water, lemonade, kool-aid, or soda pops, so no problem with finding something to quench our thirsts.. those were the days!.
sylvia.

I had a CO that found $3.00 in an old pack of cigarettes on the ground. From then on he would stop to inspect any he saw to see if they had any money in them. It was cute at the time but looking back it is a little sad.

Crazy things witnesses have said to householders.
by LogCon ina hungarian brother used to come up with some humdingers.
he was a child when his family escaped from hungary when the soviets came storming in about 1957. he would be at the door, a young person would answer, and he would ask him, 'what do you think of the situation?
' meanwhile the person is thinking, 'huh?".

re piztjw's comment
I have wondered about that myself. I always kind of figured perfection meant you wouldn't make those kinds of mistakes.

2014: do you see Witnesses ramping up activity? What will the aftermath be in 2015?
by JimmyPage injw's often say they don't serve with any dates in mind.
but the fact is many of them can't fathom why the end just hasn't come yet.
since 2014 marks 100 years of invisible rule many witnesses can't help but think this has some special meaning.

We are already 1/4 way through the year does this prediction of increased activity seem to have any merit? 2014 does seem like a psychological year. It would have been for me.
The memorial is like the new year's resolution. It is when everyone including the inactive ones put in extra effort for a month or two only to see if fade again until next year.
I think 2014 is the memorial of years. We may see a lot of increased activity but not long after this year is over it will revert to the norm. We can even hope that it is a "sifting" year where the exodus will be even greater than normal. Can we hope for a JW Bear Market?

Mormons prove that going to college won't necessarily improve your critical thinkings skills so the JWs don't have anything to worry about.
Edit added "necessarily"

I wonder if some posters are the Writing Department using EXJW forums to create their stereotypical Apostates.
Lol that would be funny. Sounds like an episode of South Park.

Google search
by Skbj insomething just downed on me when searching up a quote from the bible on google.. wasn't anything important was just gonna make a joke on a fb of a friend but i was looking for the exact words so i posted the essence on google which gave me the results and verse.
then i researched the verse itself and i realised that at least on the 3 first pages there are no links connecting to any wt site.
i mean that's great the least people lured in the better but if i were still in the "truth" i would wonder why, surely if i were preaching the truth and the internet is such a media in today's society i would want to see some reference of the any scripture linking back to the wt site at least on the first couple of pages and i would like to see them putting some effort on that when it's zero.

Yea but you can type jw. in google and jw.org is the first site listed. (could that be considered an easter egg?)
Can you find anything on that site in the genral results via google? You can search directly by using site:jw.org in your search, and If I copy some text from a watchtower article and search, it does find the article on the site. So jw.org appears to be indexed.
But I have never seen a random result linking to anything on the jw site. I think it is likely because most of the people using that site just go there and search rather than using a search engine to find stuff.

Just found one in the June 2014 Awake
WHAT PEOPLE LOOK FOR IN A FRIEND
Juan: “A true friend should be able to ex-
press his opinions freely but not get upset
if you don’t agree.”
