Jehovah's Witnesses cease to exist before the year 2000
by rory-ks inseptember 1st, 2012, can be marked down in the theocratic calendar as the day the watchtower bible and tract society marched shamelessly into the 21st century.
on that day, jw.org, official website of jehovah's witnesses, went live, and with one strike the organisation put a match to its past.. .
seek out the society's online library, its searchable database of publications, and you will soon see that it has only made available literature published since the year 2000. inclusion of the generic work, insight on the scriptures, is of no consequence.

There's gotta be another faction in the Writing Department, either that or they can't see the irony.
by Theocratic Sedition inthe past two week's worth of wt studies have made a couple points that appear contradictory in nature.
yesterday was too much, i felt at least.
either there's another faction within the writing department fighting for the equivalent of airtime in the literature, or they're all so indoctrinated that they fail to see the irony in what they publish.. for instance, take paragraph 5 from last week's lesson.. 5. unlike the law codes of many countries, "the perfect law" is neither complex nor burdensome but consists of simple commandements and principles.

Here's one that irritates me:
Babylon the Great has to be a "religious" entity because she committs fornication with all the kings of the earth.
"Jehovah will turn his attention to Tyre (a political not a religious entity) and she must return to her hire and commit prostitution with all the kingdoms of the earth upon the surface of the ground"
Isaiah 23:17
Their whole argument identifying Babylon the Great as the World Empire of False religion is fallacious.
Go ahead write them and point this out. They are defenseless. You'll probably get a Dear Fellow Worshiper letter, telling you to get out in service, keep praying, and studying their (stupid) arguments over and over and over and eventually you will see that they are right.
Everyone has their favorite complaint about the Watchtower mistakes.
But you have to ask if you believe (big IF) that Jehovah is in charge and there are myriads and myriads of angels directing the work why can't they can't take a peek in the kitchen where this horrible food is being prepared.

Then you have this past sunday's watchtower with a picture of a rebellious teen playing violent video games.
Sounds better than engaging in sports with the elders. Killing a few villains on screen or getting your arm broke.

5 Reasons Why the DEAF Masturbation Video is different than anything before...
by BluePill2 inas some of you have noticed the asl video warning against masturbation (another guilt trip) is creating waves.
this is not small fry.
1. it is humorous - most topics (like other policies) are serious/depressing (blood, shunning, pedos).

King Solomon: JW's should have protected people from adult language. If you go to the ASL web page you have to be a registered member to access mature signs like those being used in the video. There are ways to explain the subject without using the sign equivalent to "jack-off". Are deaf people incapable of subtlety? Or are deaf people incapable of reading actual words? Aren't sensitive subjects better handled by the written word? Obviously the Watchtower site intended to use that series as a way of demonstrating their ability to spread the word to all sorts of people. What they ended up doing is poking fun of a group of people that have fought desperately to overcome the "dumb" image.
But here is the real problem. Can't Jehovah protect the Watchtower from stupid mistakes like this?

Do you think theres such a thing as a "normal person"
by londonlady ini was trying to think of all the many many people i've ever met and conculded that none of them could be termed "normal".
some of them might have seemed normal to start with but on further inspection most definatly not!.
in answer to the obvious question no i do not think i'm normal neither, i don't think i would want to be either.

The countless inconsistencies in these Watchtower articles are blamed finally on "human imperfecdtion" which could easily be remedied by having the information screened by a group of intelligent reviewers that aren't all sitting on the same floor in a building in brooklyn.
What is the supreme editorial board in heaven doing that they let this stuff get printed and distributed.

Farkel: The only way you will enjoy this picture is if you leave your well tuned Bull S__T detector at home.
Same with Michael Moore. These guys complain about a divided USA but make their living by encouraging the division.

"Pilot Project" - Jehovah's Witnesses in Manhattan, with your new host... Robert Warren!
by cedars inyet another video effort by the society to be apparently pulled off jw.org and given an audience on youtube.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbohitd8goi.
my observations.... despite obvious attempts to garner praise, the feedback robert gets from passersby is far from glowing.
at best, it can be described as neutral, with none of those chosen to comment seeming to know anything about jw beliefs.

The people interviewed are obviously JW's themselves. Who would identify themselves as a "conservative christian". They would more likely say what their denomination is. But a JW "actor" can't say "I'm Catholic or Lutheran or whatever". The words "Conservative Christian" are rather benign and fit JW's ala Theocratic Lying (strategy).
Of course the info booth works better than going door to door. That's why that method has been used by many other religions. Can a JW sattelite be far behind? Broadcasting 24-7? Actually in this day and age everything works better than door-to-door.

HEAR YE! HEAR YE! ADVENTISTS' GROWTH RATE IN BRAZIL OUTSTRIPS JWS'
by steve2 injoker10 started a thread some days ago - putatively just to "inform" us - about the growth of self-identifying jehovahs witnesses in brazil across two census periods, the year 2000 to the year 2010. this led to some enlivened discussion about growth rates, including in particular how this compared with other similar 'vintage' 'christianized' religions such as the mormons (latter-day saints of the church of jesus christ) and seventh-day adventists (sdas).
joker10 readily obliged by posting within the same day the relevant growth rates for the latter-day saints in brazil over the same census periods.
the jw growth rate easily outstripped those for the latter-day saints.

On the cladistic tree JW's are basically adventists anyhow.
