Those atheists that believe you can't disprove the existence of a personal GOD just haven't analyzed it enough and are just trying to avoid arguing the point.

Is it Possible to be Agnostic, Behaviorally?
by leavingwt inmichael shermer says 'no': .
"of course, no one is agnostic behaviorally.
when we act in the world, we act as if there is a god or as if there is no god, so by default we must make a choice, if not intellectually then at least behaviorally.

Some of us atheists aren't exactly part of the choir
Dangeous perversion of Christianity? Christianity has been perverted by ALL Chrisitan Relgions.
Think about the wars the other "perverted" Christians have blessed. Think about the slavery condoned by churches. Think about the treatment of women as sub-servient to men. Think about the Catholics and their control of reproductive choices. Think about the exploitation of aboriginal populations. Think about the abuses JW's have experienced from other Christians with their clergy directed mobs.
Yeah. Go ahead and pray for JW's. But, you had better repent of your own hypocritical behavior for 2000 years.
Nothing fails like prayer.

How Will the Society React to the Hundred Year Anniversary of 1914?
by slimboyfat init's only a couple of years away now and what a headache it must present to the gb - providing they have given it much thought already.
there probably is no elegant way of presenting the hundred year long failure of the end to come; the fact that the "short period of time" of satan being cast down to the earth has now stretched beyond any credibility.
but they have to deal with it one way or another.

So, did the Memorial answer the question posed in their invitation?
by poppers injust wondering if they addressed and answered the question - something about "how do you view jesus?
".

Attended the 64th memorial. Each memorial for the past 30 years has seemed more and more weirid.
Questions about the identity of the "other sheep".
Exclusion of "other sheep" from partaking.
The false separation into two classes if they are really "one" flock.
The division is between the sheep and the goats. NOT the heard of sheep.
The exercise in refusing what is passed hand to hand under your nose all the while being read scriptures that say if you don't eat his flesh and drink his blood you won't have everlasting life.
It's a big tease.

Jehovah's Witness Radio/TV Station?
by ilikecheese inin terms of christian ministries, radio and tv stations/shows are such an effective tool.
i've worked in christian media, and i can see the impact that it has on people.
if you have a pastor who knows their stuff, is crazy passionate about it, and is a little less loony and more empathetic, they can really get a lot of people interested.

JW's could easily own a satelite like 700 club. If JW's worked a little overtime on their jobs instead of field service on Saturdays and gave it to the Watchtower they could own a couple sattelites broadcasting 24/7.
People could be reached at the critical point where they are most vulnerable to a "religious" solution.
It's probably better that they haven't done that.

can of worms -ranting
by so confused inthe more i'm reading and thinking about what i have previously learned it just opens a whold new can of worms.. my husband and i have been reading/comparing the nwt, diaglot, reference bible, etc.
and i saw where the society added words, changed meaning, even added an entire sentence without ().
i have seen where they have emphasized sayings in the watchtower that are not in the bible like "paradise earth".

Confused,
You said: I asked my husband last night what are we going to do now? He stated "find the truth." I stated what if we dont and he stated "then it will be a good journey." He stated he is waiting for me to start the journey, because I'm not ready yet. which I'm not ready.
The most serious bs you will have to deal with is thinking that you will ever find "truth" in some religious book.
If you don't get rid of that notion you risk drifting into another trap. ALL religion is cult at the core. They all start out as cults. Once they
get enough members a lot of the control issues are hard to maintain. Look at the Catholic Church still dictating celibacy for their inner circle of males, and trying to control sexual practices and reproductive decisions of its members.
Jews still practice ritual mutilation of male sexual organs, abstain from foods, look down on gentiles etc.

Do COs have a cushy life?
by A question indo cos (and dos) have a cushy life in comparison with other jws, or others in fulltime service?.
it could be said that they do, since they have an apartment provided for them, meals out, green handshakes, and invites to social gatherings.
it could also be said that they do not, since they may have to live in a different house every week, accept whatever food they're given, and they have a lot more meetings than the average jw.. .

It's a crappy life. Most go into it because of the prestige rewards. But that wears off real quick.
Prestige for males at some evolutionary level means access to females. But, if you can't really cash in on the sex the rewards become thin.
The circuit overseers wives who crave a circle of female friends feel totally alienated. When I was a little boy we often provided accomodations for the circuit overseers. My bedroom was next to the bedroom they would use. I overheard the wife of Lowell Yeats complain that no one at the halls ever talk to her. He told her that she needs to walk up to other sisters and introduce herself. She told him that's crazy because they know who she is.
The only ones that stay in the traveling work are those who have Gypsy blood.
