by QUEENIE inwell the cat is okay she aint pg -- lisa has seen the nurologist and more tests __ mri for starters and more blood tests / pills to take for herself -- now me i gota take another blood test (10 hr flasting) thank god i am being shunned and not just by the jws -- gives one time to think and do things i would rather do with my time / go potty / take a shower -- even pick my nose and contemplate my belly button..do the positive things in life like daydream about becoming filthy rich in ways i would rather do...queenie aka badassmum and sarcastic sally !!!

Hi Sparky, Long time no exchange pleasantries!!!
I'm going to cut right the the quick on this and say that Denzel Washington should not have won the oscar over Russel Crow (sp?) (actually a New Zealander btw) for his part in A Beautiful Mind. Before you bristle too much. I haven't seen "Training Day", but someone told me it was a light weight film (is that true?). Denzel is a very good actor, but if you've seen A Beautiful Mind then you will know how stunning a perfermance Russel gave in it.
Actually I can't stand Russel Crow. He seems incredibly immature to me, but he really was something else in A Beautiful Mind. It's a shame when assholes have such awesome talent.

For those who stay, or return.
by dmouse init is very difficult for normal, well-adjusted people to understand why some take hard drugs.
it is painful to watch healthy men and women eaten away by the chemicals that infest them.
eventually, they become empty shells of their former selves, dying both metaphorically and literally.. it is even harder to understand why some who have managed to become clean of drugs, who have seen the degradation that it causes and know that it is a blind alley, who then return to that seedy underworld and begin once again to pollute themselves.. there must be a reason.

I think the only people who return to it are those who never really understood that it wasn't the truth. These ones left the Org for other reasons but they were always troubled by their consciences. I think there are a lot of people out there that still believe it's the true religion, but just find it too hard to follow. They are vulnerable to returning at some point in the future. In my case though, I'd need a frontal lobotomy before I'd return to the Organisation. Those that have truly seen the light cannot go back. As someone said "you cannot unring a bell".

LyinEyes, I just love hearing how some of us learned the truth about the Troof via the internet. I do think though that you cannot educate someone about the Troof unless there are some underlying concerns to begin with. This isn't too far fetched considering most of us had doubts for years sitting just beneath the surface. I suspect 90% of dubs carry some doubts most of the time.
You said that we apostates are more interesting and smarter than the average witnesses. I don't think it's intellectual coz most here were JWs for years. We weren't too smart then. I think being a JW kinda puts a lid on our spirits and drags us down intellectually. There is so little opportunity for learning and personal growth. In normal society people learn from a variety of people around them, but in the Troof everyone is more or less the same and witnesses are encouraged to only read WT books. When we leave the Witnesses we open up a whole new world of opportunities for growth and education.
The people here are great and though I've been free for over 20 yrs I am totally addicted to hearing the thoughts of other exjws. Every time I read something hysterical or insightful I want to hug the poster. I tell you what too - I've been on exjw internet sites for at least 6 yrs and I think the number of brilliant, witty and amusing posters are mushrooming. Hey, proof that we have God's blessing right?

Another Sad Story

Witnesses don't GET grieving. I am not sure if the Society will agree to give your friend a proper funeral or not. If they do, it won't be a proper funeral coz they will blab on about JWs hopes and rewards and if they don't do that then it's a rebuke from them because your friend wouldn't listen to them. Either way it's horrible.
It's not easy for you either because you've been un-naturally excluded from the grieving process. A ritual that's been developed over hundreds of thousands of years because it brings us comfort.
I think you will have to content yourself with knowing that you were a good friend when it counted. When she was alive and knew what was going on. Whatever idiocy the Org comes up - you are best out of it. Maybe you should set some time aside and hold your own private memorial for your dear old friend. Go to a beautiful park or the top of a building or even a lovely old church and meditate on all the good times you had together. I'm sure she'd like that idea.

MD that is such a beautiful story. I have always hoped that I might be blessed with a knock on the door such as that. I'm glad to know that someone like me has received one. And of course your sister told you to piss off for shunning her all those years??? hehehe! NOT. Welcomed you with opened arms like the truly good person she is.

by Realist insorry guys i have more question to which i never could get a real answer.. what is the true motivation for most witnesses to preach?
is it to save others because they really feel bad for nonwitnesses or do they preach because it is required to get into paradise?

Realist. There are two answers. The company policy answer and the real answer. The company policy is God's people must preach about the new world that is coming and to warn about the end of the world that is also coming. SOON. Always soon!!
The real reasons for preaching are peer group pressure, status, habit, fear of not getting into paradise if not complying , being brainwashed - basically just keeping your feet on the treadmill and running fast to keep up while the WTS spins the wheel.
