That's too funny. We had a guy (the only one I really liked) who would ask similar questions but he'd include the answer e.g. Jesus died for our sins. Then he'd say "isn't it"? The meek will inherit the earth. Isn't it? He wouldn't have said it for God's name is Jehovah. He had a diamond like precision at putting 'isn't it?' where it didn't belong.
Hubby and me still say it to each other. It kinda caught on. Isn't it?

Francois, I can't believe Aliens freaked you out!! Last nite on the comedy channel of cable tv, they played an old Fast Forward - there was a take off of the first Aliens. They somehow manage the atmosphere and music on a very low budge. The alien eggs were McDonald burger boxes and the alien was a burger that flew out of the packet and attached itself to Glen Robins face which they eventually prized off with a kitchen spachular (sp?). Then during the stomach erruption scene, a MacDonalds clown emerged from Glens stomach. I think they were trying to make a statement about MacDonalds.
THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT was a recent movie that was unnerving.
i started on some research to expose the cult that xenu is trying to sneak on to this board "raelians" and i think i might have come across something that will be of interest to all of you.

Did you ever see the 60 Minutes that showed how the Scientologists took over the Cult Awareness Organisation in the US a few years ago? Talk about dirty tricks. The Scientologiest basically had more money and killed the true Cult Awareness group with dirty tricks and pointless litigation. The reporter was that tall blond woman - not Diane Sawyer but the other one. She was absolutely brilliant and tore shreds off the Scientologists. It was the only time I've ever seen a journalist kick butt when interviewing religious smarmy bastards.

Beck that's funny. David bought the Exorcist on VCD recently and said it wasn't too bad. So I started to watch it and it gave me the creeps. Nothing much seemed to be happening, but I think with all the hoo ha that the dubs made about it the anticipation was too much for me. I only got a quarter way thru.
I walked out of a horror movie at the cinema recently. It was called Jeepers Creepers. I thought I'd bought a ticket to The Others. (early demensia on my part) I'm sure The Others would have scared me half to death too, but Jeepers Creepers was too horrible.
I think an absolute classic horror movie is The Shining with Jack Nicholson. It's just the best movie. We have watched it sooooooooo many times. When we visited AF and JF in Oregon we drove up to the mountain logde where the filmed the outise scenes. I've forgotten the name of the place now. Mt. Hart, Hunt... or soemthing????
Jacobs Ladder sounds good. I think I remember the talk about it when it came out. I wouldn't mind getting it on video. I quite liked IT coz I was mad keen on Stephen King for a while.

even though i've been da'd since 1989 the truth is that i always considered it to still be the truth up until a couple of years ago when i started researching more through sites like this.
i never got around to getting my hands on that book though, and now can't wait until it arrives.
Rick I ahven't read C of C since 1984. I've been thinking lately that it's time I re read it. I wonder if I will like it as much the second time all these years later. Enjoy the read!

ok, the good news is i'm on vacation: a time when i should just relax, have fun, do things i like to do when i want to do them, stay up all night, sleep all day, whatever.
but, i picked of all times to *try* to quit smoking.
i used to smoke like only when i was drinking, or if i had a really bad day at work, but lately due to a stupid ass man in my life and my family fighting, i have been smoking more than i should.
If you don't quit now you surely will when you walk thru the hospital doors to have your lung removed. That's when my friend finally quit. He says he keeps a pack in his work shop still, but he'll never smoke again after his diagnosis.
Hey I'm not being all superior here. I've stopped a 28 yr drinking habit (not excessive but daily) because I've learned that alcohol is associated with a 40% increase risk of breast cancer - especially in people with family history - which I have. I also LOVE good wine and gin and tonics and brandy and drys and rum and cokes and............. any alcohol basically. But I have been off it for many months now. I know how difficult it is to stop a much loved habit but actually I'm now at the point of prefering soberness instead of that hazy vagueness I had every nite from 5 pm onwards.

Well honey, you ain't seen nothing yet! Have you seen Proof of Life? Most of the time Russell Crow sounds like he's reading a Peter and Jane book. God knows how Meg Ryan fell for him during the making of such an inane movie.
However I'm an idealist (hence I woke up to the WTS) and I think they should give the Oscar to the best actor. Jerk or not.
Gladiator was a bit of a bore IMO. I also loved American Beauty and thought Kevin Spacey was great as was the wife (oops memory is hopelss) I haven't seen Malcolm X. I feel I have to see it now to check out the ending!!!
