have peeked in for the past several months and find this a very diverse (kind of) and interesting group.
i'm not an ex anything, (not jw either...if that's ok)... but i've learned a lot from you.
hope to be able to bring another point-of-view that can be at least half as interesting as most of yours are.. poetic overview of me (if anyone cares):.
I've been on exjw discussion forums since 96' and I've come across a few that have never been dubs but find the discussions interesting. I say why not? Welcome! Lucky you that you didn't have to learn the hard way!

You should avoid them at your age! Carbonated drinks are meant to deminish calcium levels. See ya don't have to be in the WT to be a wet blanket!!! Btw I drink lime juice with soda water. I take a calcium supplement :-))

hello room,.
websters new world dictionary defines apostate as one who have abandoned their faith.
that definition does not describe me.
Yeah I agree!! Most of you are imposter apostates! I'm the real mckoy! The trouble is that when I was disfellowshipped for apostasy it was for not believing the Tower rather then the sin of not believing in God. They should rename the reason for disfellowshipping people like you to Disloyalty or Treason - so everyone knows who is a proper apostate and who isn't.

if a dud came to your door and said, we no longer shun ex members let's become friends again.
if the wt said the preaching work has ended.. if wt encouraged the members to vote in all elections.
if the blood ban was removed.
I'd ask for an official apology and then I'd sue them for 20 yrs of heart ache and lost years with my family.
Guess hell is going to freeze over first!
welcome to the board btw

it's been a strong desire of mine for the 20 some odd years since i've beeb df'd.. what do you guys think?
should i go this year and make everyone's jaw drop??
any advice as to what i should say if i am interrogated?
Hey I've been d'fed 20 yrs. Celebrated the anniversary around April last year. You must be my vintage? Didja do something naughty or just get booted for not thinking the same as them? It was the latter in my case! :-)

I tend to think it's not a good idea. I feel it would feed their paranoia about how wicked the world is and especially apostates (not that they need extra fuel!). I'm not sure that it's a good thing for you personally - where's the personal growth in it? Will it make you feel as good as you imagine it will? (spose it depends on the quality of the red!). Hope you know what I'm getting at. I suppose I'm into karma and I live my life with the aim of hurting as few people as possible, ithe belief that what goes round comes round.
However I was highly amused when my jw father told me that a Dub Bible study turned up at the meeting one day wearing a Father Christmas hat. Guess he couldn't resist the urge either.
Each to his own!

suddenly i am hit with this overwhelming feeling that we are wrong and that there are logical explanations for all of the things that dont make sense.
aaaah.
this is awful.
Flower, there's a saying "you can't un-ring a bell". The bell has rung for you and you now know the Truth is not the truth. However, if you are not sure, then put on your frock and high heals and go back to the hall. Sit down and listen to the talks and see if you like what you hear. If you like it, then stay. If it drives you crazy - you will have your answer.
best wishes

i have had a couple of discussions about freewill lately but it seems as if i am talking to a brick wall.
here is my basic reasoning, perhaps you can point out what i am missing.. lets outline the 2 common assumptions normally associated with the debate concerning adam, god and freewill:.
2. god gave adam freewill to obey him or not to.
Theoretically I'd say the former.

DakotaRed's analogy about children is interesting. In the case of Adam and Eve, they were even worse than children because they had no past experience to call upon. Most of us learn from our mistakes. But A & E were naive and ignorant. What kind of God would allow such an experiement with two novice human beings, and then punish millions of people hence forth coz A & E predicatably got it wrong.
If you want to go with the parent analogy, what parent doesn't continue guiding and showing patience with their child when they make lots of mistakes. I would have had just cause to throw my kids out on the street years ago, if I'd used the Adam and Eve situation as my frame of reference.
