i guess i'm showing my age here, but do any of you remember the movie version of johnathan livingston seagull?

soundtrack by neil diamond?.

there is perhaps no better subtle indictment of the wtbts than this movie.

Francois, I don't think you mentioned "Murials Wedding" or "Pricilla Queen of the Desert" - both recent (ish) Aussie movies and very entertaining. I'm just dying for you to see Holy Smoke though. (obviously because of our shared background). Oddly enough my SO didn't enjoy it as much as I did (and yeah my SO is an exdub). Then I got into an argument with JanG on H20 who thought Holy Smoke was irresponsible or something - but I thought it was an excellent movie. A more recent Ozzie movie of worth is "The Interview". Plus "Looking for Alabrandy" (sp?) is ok too.

I love your posts btw. I really will make an effort to get JLS, but I seldom go to a video store these days. I am going to have to make a note to myself as I also have premiture memory failure. (maybe it's not premiture. Maybe I'm kidding myself!)

A VERY SPECIAL THANKYOU TO THIS BOARD!

thank you, thank you, thank you for making me see that i'm wasting my time being in a world of bitter, twisted, self-absorbed people and helping me to wake up to the benefits of being a jehovah's witness!

if any of you come back with the ol - the jw's are full of bitter, twisted, people (in the most stupid arse voice of course!

), i'll reply, yeah, but not as rampant as the rest of the world.....call me crazy if you like, i don't care, because it's my salvation i'm worried about not yours....you've thrown it away because you can't see the bigger picture....trials and tribulation will always abound in this day and age...it is proving like job that we are not discouraged by the trials that gains us the most happiness because we know the trials won't go on much longer and jah will repay us 100 fold for our pain....that's a damn good reward to me!

i was attacked here when i first admitted that i was studying with the jw's.

i also noted that blessed_something or other (sorry, bad memory) was attacked also....just because we say something positive about the jw's!

i think that is mighty unfair and defeats the purpose of you trying to turn us against the jw's.

Violet, It WAS the Jehovah's Witness religion that split up my family. It wasn't an individual. I could explain it in more detail but then you would accuse me of being too wordy.

terafera - have you really thought about going back? Do you mind me asking you why? Your comments tell me that you are no fool - unlike some people I won't mention. Is it because of family pressure? I know I used to consider going back just so I could associate with my family and give my parents some peace of mind. But I couldn't do it - I couldn't pretend to believe it - I thought it would be too stressful for everyone but especially me.

I'm thinking that you haven't considered going back because you have lingering doubts?????

:::::::::I suppose the bottom line is those who can should jump in and reason calmly and kindly with the Jw defenders who show up. Those who can't, we need to sypathize with them too!

Hi Jst2laws, I do kinda agree with you. My original post in this thread to VA was I considered fairly tame and reasoned. (maybe I'm mistaken but that was what I intended). She jumped on me rudely telling me I like the sound of my own voice. After reading her replies to a number of people I concluded that VA isn't into reasoning. I'm not really sure what it is she's into. Do you think she just wants us to pat her on the back and tell her the JWs are great and have a good life? That's the impression I get from her. But how can any of us ignore what we know and pretend to be happy for her? Why is she here anyway? Some are saying she's a troll. Does a troll have 450 posts under their belt?

I have to admit that I find her reasoning power scary. She reminds me of myself 25 yrs ago. I don't know if she is genuine or not, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe she will be happy as a Jehovah's Witness. I was for a while I think. Overall though the emotional cost to me has been utterly devistating.

I have read a few of your posts and I feel your pain still. It's not easy is its? I'm 20 yrs out and still have a lot of problems coz my family are JWs and I was one of the unlucky ones who was disfed for slipping away quietly. :-(

I was wondering why you don't join a less demanding sect? Why not sign up with the Seventh Day Adventists? You'll get all the same benefits and none of the hassels.
