the apostles did not go from door to door apart from revisiting their own flock in their homes (see paul).
going from house to house is the sure way to give what is holy to dogs and swine, who then having been instructed proceed to buy, via their own labour, and then learn to attack others by this, thinking themselves more worthy due to their own effort (see hagar).
Bang, this looks interesting, but I feel you need to elaborate a bit on it. Was this whole thing written in the WT? Is it saying not to bother imparting the good news to coloured people unless they show an exceptional interest? Sorry if I'm being dumber than usual!

perhaps this is some sort of backlash against the recent adverse dateline publicity in the us, the forthcoming pananorama programme in the uk and problems with a number of influential ones leaving the organization.

Does quoting themselves give it more authority than just stating it a new?
I am convinced this is a backlash for the angst apostates have been causing the WTS. It's the only sting they have left in their tail. Of course most of us have been bitten so many times we're immuned to their bite!

I guess the thing that struck me about Mormonism was that it seemed a very American kinda thing to do. For the rest of the world (that's me) who doesn't quite get American self importance, it seemed that they felt left out of the whole Bible thingy (same here in Australia) and so they came up with an entirely different version of Christianity that put them on the map and muscled out the Palestine. I guess God has to be on American home soil to be taken seriously.

teejay - I'm nearly 50 and I've been hitched for 30 yrs. No it doesn't bother me that my SO likes to look at other women - I even point em' out to him sometimes.It would bother me if he was drooling over some woman at an inappropriate time. (time and place for everyting) and yes I do think it's natural because of the amount of testosterone in the male body. If you blocked the testosterone, guess what? You wouldn't be very interested in the female naked body. It's just chemistry. I might sound somewhat smug here, but I am a confident person and was lucky enough to be born with reasonable features. If I was other than I am, I might be more insecure and therefore resent my loved one window shopping. I think overly jealous relationships don't last. Hey teejay this is a non issue if ever there was one. We seem to be agreeing on the bleedin' obvious!!

Teejay, tell us something we don't know? What's the big deal your making? So you were gifted a whole bunch more testosterone than the fairer sex and it makes you like anything to do with procreation. So what? It doesn't bother me that you and the rest of hetrosexual men like looking at naked ladies - but the big deal is that sometimes we don't share your enthusiasm for you lookin' at us naked. The male appetite knows no bounds - and sadly ours does. We just can't match your interest in all things naked. Praps coz traditionally it's ended up with us being barefoot and pregnant - with loads of howling ankle bitters driving us nuts. But moving on down to now, 2002, many females have careers and kids and houses to keep up - so they can't be shedding their gear every time their man expresses an interest in seeing them naked - hell we'd be forever naked. I think we've got it worked out ok though. We shed sometimes, when the mood takes us, and the rest of the time you have your imaginations, playboy, tv, porno et al to tide you over till we are in a generous mood. Hey in my case my husband works overseas so every six weeks he get's to pig out for a whole week. Works for us!

how many here worked out it was not the truth alone without the aid of a specific book and how many needed franz's work or someone elses?.
This post seems to have attracted answers from those who left without the help of C of C. Me too. We stopped meetings in 1979 and were disfed in 1981 for apostasy. I read C of C in 1984.
We worked it out all by our selves.

Other Jehovah's Witnesses do the judging along with the Elders. Elders get first pop - or maybe they take in turns. Peer group pressure is alive and well in the Org., in fact it's the treadmill that keeps the wheels turning. Cripes when I was disfed for no good reason (they called it apostasy) my parents could see absolutely no reason to shun me. But for years they've associated with me secretly keeping up appearances to keep everyone in the congregation happy. Rediculous. What's the point? How many of them are doing what they are doing for God and how many of them are slaves to what the *loving bothers and sisters* think?

Simplesally, I don't know how you could walk away from your husband like this. Can't you hang around longer and torture him with more negativity??? Mmmmmm? I thought his comments were classic? Geez girl all this tearing down and negativity you've been laying on him - couldn't you have set your criticisms to dance or turn it into a "a lived happily ever after" story? Can't be too difficult - just lots of up beat rhythm and lots of smiling. You husbands comments were unbelievable. There is no point him leaving the Tower as he'd just be looking to replace it with another bunch of lies - as long as they are happy, positive lies eh?
