the thread about got me thinking about my very early childhood, back when witnesses were allowed to be social and have get togethers.
they also had a piano in every congregation i ever attended, and an older sister would always play the kingdom melody.
there was actual singing - not mindless droning and humming.
Think about it....the societies recomendation was to take all of the kids out of band and music which was for the most part taught after school. That was all extra curricular activities.
So who would play the piano.....??? No one knows how.
All of my kids joined band and it was frowned on upon by all....

Well....
If you marry a guy then you should love him enough to due him. Maybe not just at any beck and call (BOOTY). I too don't especially like that phrase but you should be willing to due it at least some. Many women and men have different drives and most times the women is the lesser on e in this scenario.
As for as Bible law, much of the times described in the Bible, men were allowed to have nmore than one wife. So if one didn't due then another would.
Women are in a lesser view in all of the Bible as far as subjection to their husband. So, then if your not dueing and in subjection and have a problem with the DUE. Then I suggest that you might have a problem with the Bible being as the inspired word of God therefore the whole scxene begins to unravel, doesn't it.
So you have to make a decision to due it or get into another faith system altogether.

I was involved for many years. I haven't been to a meeting since the Memorial this year and only memorials since 1998.
I also think garybuss is funny! The witnesses do take a somewhat negative approach to their views.
But as in my politics, (somewhat rightish), I have a middle of the road thinking process when it comes to the witnesses. They are harmless unless you take them too seriously.

Other points:
The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society...nothing in their title suggests their goals. It seems they would have change it to the "Teachers of Gods Will" or the "The Kingdom Proclaimers Org.". It states their ultimate goal honestly in the title, selling of books and phamplets.
The Watchtower society has millions if not billions stashed away in othe corporations. This has been one of my hangups ever since I heard about it. I don't undstand why they would hoard this money when they have millions of servants struggling to make it every day and CO & DO's that rely on the local congregations for food and clothes.
WTBTS has a short term outlook for the R & F but their actions speak a different tune. Why even rebuild the facilities in a different location out of the city? They believe the end is still a long ways off, except in the teachings.
The end can't come until all of the political systems of the Earth turn against religion. This is not happening quickly enough so they continue to build and profit while they ones/brothers in many lands have nothing to wear or eat.
I am starting to ramble, sorry.

james free, I tend to agree with your line of reasoning.
But they wouldn't have to be God's chosen people or the only choice for a after life hope to have some of their teachings be correct.
Other churches and organizations don't make the claim that they are the only hope do they?
I am also convinced that all religous groups are a snare and a trap for profit/gain.
The millions of dollars that the WTBTS have stored up makes me very concerned about their motives of how those funds will be used. They may simply be storing it up for legal battles that they expect in the future from other organizations and past members over issues like education and blood.

I too have an attraction to the witnesses core teachings as many of you admitted. I still have many friends that are involved, all be it I don't associate much with them because my hours for last month were a bit low. LOL....
I am pretty certain that they aren't Gods representative on Earth in any way today. Many years ago they might have been, just as the Jews were chosen by God for the lineage of Christ and then grew away from Jehovah and lost his blessing.
In my early years associating with the WTBTS the congregations were more closely knit and showed more love than today. This conduct was previous to the elder arrangement. This behavior could just be the change that society in general has made with less time for many things as opposed to the 50's.
I don't however want to return to the pressures of worship within the environment that I experienced the last twenty years or so that I was going to all the meetings etc. The struggle to please the group all around me in the congregation just became too much to bear.
I visited my parents this week and my Dad read the text on Tuesday I believe. It stated that you shoouldn't impose you conscious on others. This is one of the biggest problems I feel that exists in the WTBTS today with regard to keeping it's members. Now, don't misinterprete this comment, I know there other glaring issues like disfelowshipping and child molesters. But the R & F don't get exposed to that very much unless they read outside the boundaries they are allowed.

I wanted to know if there were those here that still felt drawn too the witness teachings but just din't the WTBTS is the answer to all of your problems and God's representative on Earth.

the andrea yates verdict came down again and it was not guilty.
she will be sent to a mental facility instead of prison where in time, and after therapy, she may in all liklihood be reintegrated into society at some point.
what do you think of the verdict?
This is not about her degree of guilt!
It is about how much the lawyers in our society can suck out of the government. In a state of laws we have some many lawyers that it makes it almost impossible to get to the truth of anything. All they want to do is continue the debate? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The org aside, the doctrine etc of the JW's? Not the politics or organizational features of the org.
Do u believe the doctrines of the witness but not that they are the only hope for mankind etc, the representative of God on Earth?
