as a jw...at least if you were social...you could walk into about any hall and find other social jw's you could become friends with...yes they are conditional...perhaps more so than other friends, but i did have some great friends there and i still miss them.
since my wake up....then departure....now df status....i realize that i have had only seven or so real friends and five were found here..... five are fairly local, one is far away, and one is an old high school friend i have reconnected with (lives a thousand miles away).....and i have met some nice people through these friends but they are more aquaintances than close friends.
the bar scene did not really get me anywhere with guys or girls...and i tried meetup.com but as of yet have not connected with anyone....so what worked for you?

Try volunteering...anywhere schools, hospitals, red cross. It's very possible you may run into the same people at different functions, at least you would have that in common and a starting point. You might try going to different churches also, awkward at first, but it gets easier. Life is going to be very difficult with a JW spouse, I hope and pray all will work out for you.

Wow, I struggled. I thought is was all over, it took me years (7) to come to terms with it, and I'm doing better. I was born and raised in it, my mother and brother are still in it. My amazing husband and children are incredible as a support team. When I was df'ed I went to the committee meeting and got a phone call it had happened, I was no longer a memeber of the JW's, the phone call came from my mom. My whole world and family was there, I had to learn how to start over, and I love every minute of it now.
hey everybody, i'm in the middle of an ongoing debate w/some jws and they are asserting that everyone knows what they're getting into when they are studying and getting baptized and that nobody forces anyone to become a jw and that you can leave anytime you want.
ok, we know that's not true.
how would you counter that argument?
Sure you can leave....any time you like....as long as they get to tell you what a horrible mistake you're making and that you're throwing you're life away. And that by leaving you are turning your back on god and everything he has done for you and you will lose all your family if they are a part of it. No they aren't going to tell any of this to you, if they did, there wouldn't be over 6 million involved in voluntary isolation. I hope that made sense...kinds went on a rampage, sorry.

I had an amazing day, I helped put together food and care boxes for the storm survivors here in eastern tennessee. The thing about this is, it was done at a local church, not ours. Being raised JW, you don't go to other churches for ANY reason...this was very freeing for me and I felt on top of the world. Next is donating blood.
hello all.... some of you have been following our story from the beginning - and even those of you who haven't should be able to relate to my quandary.... last week my 14 year old son told me he no longer wants to be a jw.
we laboured over telling his jw dad all week.
well, on friday night he finally came clean.. but in a bizarre and unexpected twist, after having sex with his girlfriend for the very first time - in his father's home that very afternoon.
Forgive me for not being quite on top of it all, are you JW as well? Is your son wanting to move back in with you?
i made the final step the other day.. i donated blood.. .
i've been meaning to do it for ages, just never gotten around to it.
felt absolutely no guilt or akwardness at all.

I know at times it sounds like I'm beating a dead horse, with my repeat of questions. How is the world that horrible, when people are willing to work on mother's day for someone else? Last week when we had those horrific storms that killed hundreds and devastated thousands, I have never seen so many people come together to help rebuild others' lives'. When JW's get involved it is to help only another congregation or JW, how is this being loving or christlike? I've seen more attempts at a christlike life OUTSIDE of being a JW, then I ever did being in it.

Thank you. I do pray everyday, from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep. I know there's a god and I know his son sacrificed himsef for us, and everyday I know I fail and sin because I am human. Everyday I ask for forgiveness and the patience to be a better person. I appreciate your loyalty and dedication to your beliefs, thank you for sharing with me.
