  Question: Are single sisters allowed to be missionaries in other countries?

  as far as i remember, only married couples were allowed to be missionaries.

  my jw sister recently told me that single sisters can be missionaries, too.

  this sounds too progressive for jws, so i just want to verify it.

  The greatest challenge of missionary-work is, in my opinion, as I wrote here many years ago....the missionary-home. Living together as strangers, from different cultures is just not easy, and no course ( that's what Gilead is when you are used to wordly education), can prepare you to that.

  Day after day living with people who never had learned how to handle a fork or/and knife, speaking loud with their mouth full of rice or bread, instead of taking a shower spraying " old spice" is hard.

  Then morning worship, in the local language, hearing the strong accent of Some of the biggest countries in the world in Spanish, after years and years making the same mistakes and errors....thanks who ever to be liberated of that.Than the art of cooking of some, horrible.

  Hi Blondie.

  Personally I havent seen that much missionaries that went straight to branch work or travelling. In fact having a missionary to do Bethel work would be a waist of money.

  I do have seen some that came from other branches in the developped world and were assigned as bethelites, they brought some needed skills with them ( accounts, construction).

  Directly into travelling work is not wise in a third world country as conditions are bad sometimes not to speak of learning the local language. All of the missionaries I have seen coming went straight into homes. That was a periode of almost 10 years I served as a missionary.

  No single sister I have seen being assigned.

  For a long time they accepted single sisters as missionaries, as a fact, we lived with one in our missionary-home, from fifth class.

  she died in 2009, I read.

  This was under Knorr. After the seventies policy changed and they preferred single brothers or Couples.

  To tell you the truth, it makes sense. As a home- overseer like I used to be it is like having an extra wife. If you want or not you feel responsible for the safety and health for such a sister.

  Ties at the Kingdom Hall

  couple of weeks ago an elder took a young man aside and crawled all over him after the tms for wearing a "skinny" tie.

  it was one of those 2 inch wide ties.

  nothing bright or scandalous about.

  Did Ray Franz ever address his thoughts on atheism?

  does anybody know if ray franz ever addressed his thoughts on atheism?

  from what i've read, he was a diligent reader of the bible.

  if anybody has any info and sources about this, it is highly appreciated.

  Onthewayout that is what I liked about Ray Franz. Even though he remained Christian, he didn't preach that if others were not Christians, that they would go to hell. Who knows? Maybe he was uncertain himself about the existence of God.

  Well Ray didn't like to preach at all, kept reading his newspaper in his car when he was a CO in the DR, while having the brother doing the biblestudy. To hot you know.

  Anyway, it's good news to hear he was a true christian.

  jw literally take forever to say nothing.

  after a whole day of listening how to obtain peace , i am not sure if i obtain peace from obeying mosaic law, having a relationship to jehovah though jesus or be baptized and have a direct line to jehovah.

  every speaker tries to out bore and contract the other one.

  Just had a blow up with jw mom and she said the bible referenced angels being called gods, it that true?

  long story short my mom was acting weird, snubbing me, when i tried bringing her grandkids to see her, so i tried again and this time i just went up and hugged her since she wouldn't hug me or acknowledge any affection.

  when i released her i immediately saw her annoyed look and asked what?

  bang, she unleashes a floodgate of how she's still mad at me for going to another church that believes the trinity.
