Of course the congregation pay for the travels. In Europe it is a fixed amount per kilometer. I was never a Bethel speaker but once was invited to give the memorial talk in Spanish far away from the branch I was working at. The starting group had No qualified speaker, so we did the long trip. Got a nice dinner and about a 150 guilders as expenses (in 1989), would be a 75 euros in todays money. Makes sense to me, you can not expect a poor Bethelite cover the expenses.

Special Bethelite Speakers
by JW_Rogue ini've noticed that some elders will insist on getting a special bethel speaker for memorials, special talks, or sometimes for no reason at all!
i believe they are trying build connections they can use later, but who pays for it?
the congregation does and as a former account servant i can tell you airfare isn't all that cheap.

Stupid things happen - Bethelite guarantees 16-year old visitor-girls bethel-admission
by TheWonderofYou injust watching this video about a bethel member, single again - gives advice at morning worship.he tries to convince young 16 year old girls who visit bethel and eat in the cafeteria to marry him.he offers the full blessings as wife of a prince in the new world and gives arguments that speakfor a fast decision... shocking stupidy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4udiaarpay.
in another video of ex-bethelite (how women are treated) a bethel elder is mentioned who talked to brothers at the table and gave advice abouth marriage and said that it would be the best to marry a women when is as young and pretty as possible, (at 8:45) so you have the possibilty to train her and to mode her in to what you want and get her used in the roles you set for her..... other bethelits made big errors and married older women 24,25.women that would have their own concepts of what bethel or marriage should be.

Let's talk about Don Adams.
by Ray Frankz init's interesting that the person of the president of wtbts has figured lesser and lesser since f. franz era.
i was born in the religion in the 90's and i got to know about russel, rutherford, knorr and franz; but i never knew until a couple of years ago that m. henschel was the president in that time.
the same happens with don adams now, the first wt president from the 'other sheep'.

It's so weird for me to think back to having Adams and Ciranko as COs back in the day when I was a kid and project that to now. I don't remember them as bad guys.
Fulano:
I sure about this are you that old? Don Adams has been working at the HQ since the late fourties or so.

Jehovah's people are not happy people
by Phoebe ini finally stopped attending the meetings about 4 months go.
i won't be going back - ever.. but i've decided the best reply to the watchtower is to be happy and i do try to be happy every day even thought i wasted my entire life on this religion.
i cherish every day, practice mindfulness and do my best to be content with the life i have.. it is only now that i see that most jws i know are deeply unhappy people.

Careful, why would you think Beveridge would have fit better in SD? I think a year in the laundry would do him good :) he wouldnt need a tie there Anyway.

Such a shame such a nice person stuck in this. I guess he doesnt even like the introduction as being a writer, he is not like Beveridge (we were in the same congregation, I have to admit a great Watchtower study conductor!) , a real show off with his bow-tie or appearing at morning worship without a tie at all.
By the way, the fact that he is introduced as a writer might be the mistake of the person who put the video on YouTube . But then again I have no idea where he is up to. I had a Dutch friend who was on the WD but as I am an oppostate.....:)
