  No funeral

  i have run across another jw death where the final wishes are for no service.

  3rd or 4th instance.

  another wanted a celebration of life which the elders squelched as far as i know.

  The funeral talk is the worst talk to do. I had to do one in our assignment where a lovely five or six years old girl, daughter of a believing mother and a non JW man who worked in the USA, died of meningitis.

  The father came over and wasnt really fond of having a talk in the kingdom hall. I had to go far beyond the outlines so it wouldnt be offensive to the father. Horrible hè looking at me when talking about his little daughter and she would have a resurrection.

  Horrible for me knowing hè didnt believe me.

  No thanks. Fed up with Gilead and missionaries. Stupid, arrogant, and most of them leave the assignment in three or four years “pregnant”, the only decent excuse (we didnt).

  Yes Balaam. After a couple months I just got fed up with the eternal coleslaw. The worst was in june/july 1999 when a brother had donated a huge amount of corn to bethel.

  JW's in Spain?

  i have a cousin in law that is in the inner sanctum of the jw's at warwick.

  he and his wife were always traveling on the wtbts's dime all over the world to visit bethels and report back etc.

  they have been in lockdown for over 2 years and now it looks like the gates have opened for him and wifey to travel all over again.

  maybe a bit silly topic but i was watching some youtube films of the city where i grew up as a jw child.

  i saw some youngsters fishing.. i was never allowed to:.

  fishing, playing after school with boys from the neighbourhood, sing songs: birthday, christmas, santa claus (sinterklaas that is 5th dec), celebrate and treat your birthday, playing soccer/football with wordly boys in a club, dating girls untill i just did at 21 (yes jw girls, one kiss a week), work week, senior trip with the class, go to disco, have long hair in the seventies, wear jeans.. now the old bastards in their ninetees are wondering why we don’t want to see them anymore.

  I was never allowed to:

  Fishing, playing after school with boys from the neighbourhood, sing songs: birthday, Christmas, Santa Claus (Sinterklaas that is 5th dec), celebrate and treat your birthday, playing soccer/football with wordly boys in a club, dating girls untill I just did at 21 (yes JW girls, one kiss a week), work week, senior trip with the class, go to disco, have long hair in the seventies, wear jeans.

  i chose world events as a topic because it was the only one that seemed fitting enough.

  i left work early (if you can call 445-3 early) so i could get some shopping done, fill up, grab a scratcher for the wife and be on my way home.

  after i filled the tank i strolled into the tiny room of the gas station, to find myself behind an argument just started.

  if so, how nerve wracking was it for you?

  i'd be terrified i'd stop concentrating for a moment and out of habit make a right turn at a red light into oncoming traffic.

  I would not call it the wrong side. I have been several times in England, the first two or three days it is strange, especially at the roundabouts, but after some days you get used to it.

  Investment departments in Bethel

  i was a bethelite in london for many years then got reassigned to the field and then went on brd from the start of chelmsford right upto covid.. during my years at the branch i was sometimes asked to be on a team who went to homes donated to the branch when some older one died.. this happenes an awful lot, everything is left to the branch in the will.

  the unbelieving family is furious they didn’t get left anything and sometimes they tried to get their elderly relatives possessions and there was a legal battle .

  but in the end a team of us would go and empty the property and another team would clean it up and put it on the market to sell it for the worldwide work.. all the possessions were sorted into trash or possibly valuable .
