How much allowance do special pioneers and bethelites receive nowadays? I was shocked in when I learnt that a Bethelite earns only $14 a month in 1975.

Would like some explanation on this?
by umadevi infollowing is a few lines of an article written by barbara anderson:.
my examination was based upon four points or standards which the sons of the kingdom needed to have in common to link up with each other; three of those standards were rejection of the trinity, hellfire, and immortality of the human soul.
however, the fourth standard was the most difficultthere had to be acceptance of the ransom sacrifice of christ, that is, as defined by jehovahs witnesses.. can anyone explain this line please?

Can anyone explain this line please? Does this mean that other Christians arrive at different understanding of the ransom sacrifice of Christ?

Friends ARE precious. I'm talking about REAL friends, not jw friends
I had lots of precious friends outside before I became JW. Some even warned me not to go too deep into this religious org but I did not listen to them. I thought it would be best for both my son and me but now I am wiser. Over a long period of time I lost contact with most of my friends through my own fault. I am not proud of what I had done. I will find someway to get in touch with them and apologize. That is, if they will forgive me.

@lovelylil
Have you read crisis of conscience yet by Ray Franz? I would highly recomend it! Then you will see the elders are not appointed by Jehovah but are just mere men running a religion. Any power the organization has over you will be gone after reading that book, I promise you that.
Yes Lily I have and it was an eye opener. Now I see the "Truth" in a whole different light. For the first time in my JW life I feel free of guilt. I realize I am only answerable to Jehovah God for the actions and decisions that I take in my life. Not to an organization claiming to be 'God's org on earth'. I am considering 'fading out' slowly. As for the welfare, it's in the process. Thanks.

@ Retro
In my congo there are only 4 kids and my son is close to none of them. As for my friends all of them are JW so I guess I have to keep quiet for sometime until I find friends outside. My JW friends are great but they are too loyal to the organization. They will leave me once I decide to leave the 'Truth'. None of my family is JW, thank God!
I can't understand how I could have been so blind not to see the truth about WTS but I am glad at least it's not too late to 'fade' now. I want my son to have a normal childhood.

Everything is "Satan" ... Now what?
by roxanesophia infirstly, i'm a study who initially believed every word of the jw's.
figured "no other religion takes the time and effort to help people understand the bible by publishing the watchtower and the other literature" not realizing that all it does is pick and choose scriptures to suit whatever sentence they'd just written, which can be done using any book, not just the bible.
i felt foolish, after that.. .

Hi Roxanesophia,
I would say you are on the right path. Since you are convinced that this is not what you were looking for then the best thing is to stop the study now. Don't torture yourself further. It can be hard especially if you have become close to your study conductor. Perhaps you can take time to explain to her that, after considering whatever knowledge you have acquired so far through the study, you feel this is not what you were looking for. You don't have to feel guilty to convey your honest feelings and remember that you can't please everyone. God knows your heart and that's what matters.
I DO NOT HAVE TO GO DOOR TO DOOR SPREADING LIES TO STRANGERS WHO ARE PERFECTLY CAPABLE OF FINDING JESUS CHRIST ON THEIR OWN.
I am beginning to realize this is true too. Take care. Uma.

Thank you for all your comforting words and support. I have been actively reading some of the topics on this site and I am beginning to realize that WTS is indeed controlling my mind and my life!

You'll lose your life and that of your children if you don't come back
by truthseeker init was a beautiful, sunny day.
i was in the supermarket doing an early morning shop when i see an old friend of the family, a jw sister.. she asked me if i'd gone to the memorial and i told her no.
she said that the end is so close what with all the earthquakes and brother truthseeker, you need to come back to jehovah otherwise you will die and so will your children.

I can only speak for myself. My son and I will definitely "die" if we were to continue being JW. No freedom at all.

Hello, I am new to this site and it is comforting to know that I am not the only one that has problem with WTS. I'm 36 and single parent with 8 year old son. I work full time from 8am to 5pm in order to support both of us. In the beginning the elders were so understanding and caring (or so it seemed). I was too busy with my work so I was not able to join in the field service. Recently, I missed some meetings due to my work schedule. One of the elder contacted me and said that I should not miss meetings and that I should take part in weekly field service. He even suggested that I should find a different job so that I can contribute more time to the Society.
The thing I am unable to find another job as I have some physical limitations. The elders knew of this and yet they pressured me to go preaching. I was confused and was very afraid to go against their word as I felt that it would be like going against "God's Organization". I had no one to discuss as all of my friends are JW. I finally checked out online and discovered this site. Thank God! Atleast I am not alone.
