With a very few exceptions, in over 30 years, my experience has been that Jehovah's Witnesses are above all, trustworthy and genuine when it comes to friendship. It's also been my experience that those who turn their back on Jehovah's Organization do so out of selfish motives.

Similarly, in the year 1919, Jehovah did "turn [his] hand back upon those who are insignificant." (Zechariah 13:7) Jehovah's Shepherd-King, Jesus Christ, did begin regathering the scattered "sheep." Like the slave's master in the illustration, the Lord Jesus did return to his house and inspect the situation within it. He did find there a "faithful and discreet slave" class that was striving, in spite of world conditions, to do as commanded, give the Lord's "domestics" at the proper time their spiritual food, food taken from the inspired Word of God. So the Lord showed his favor by regathering them into a well-organized body of "domestics" in his house. The eight-day general convention held at Cedar Point, Ohio, on September 1-8, 1919, was a notification to all the world that the invisibly present Lord Jesus Christ was regathering his faithful "sheep." It indicated to the world who it was that the returned Lord Jesus had found to be his "faithful and discreet slave" class. This made the "slave" class happy. It meant their being retained in the service of their heavenly Master.
Not only did the 'slave class' not know they were a class in 1919, but they were also unaware that they had been inspected and rewarded as such. They remained unaware of the inspection until c. 1922 and that they were a class (instead of an individual, i.e. Russell) until 1927. So the claim that the 'slave class' was 'happy' or that the world was in any way notified about Jesus' selection in 1919 is pure fabrication.

The Lord Jesus explained why the state of the “faithful and discreet slave” was a happy one, for Jesus said: “Happy is that slave if his master on arriving [Greek: elthòn] finds him doing so. Truly I say to you, He will appoint him over all his belongings.” —Matthew 24:46, 47; Luke 12:42-44.

We understand these things today, thanks to the increasing light that has been shed on God’s Word by means of “the faithful and discreet slave” class. Hebrews 6:4-8 is referring to apostasy but “tasted the heavenly free gift” describes the heavenly calling the faithful and discreet slave received in 1919. The rest of Hebrews 6:4-8 also applies to the great crowd of other sheep.
For it is impossible as regards those who have once for all been enlightened, and who have tasted the heavenly free gift, and who have become partakers of holy spirit, and who have tasted the fine word of God and powers of the coming system of things, but who have fallen away, to revive them again to repentance, because they impale the Son of God afresh for themselves and expose him to public shame. For example, the ground that drinks in the rain which often comes upon it, and that then brings forth vegetation suitable to those for whom it is also cultivated, receives in return a blessing from God. What made the faithful and discreet slave “happy” was receiving God's Spirit and faithfully responding to being appointed over Jesus' belongings.
On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Moreover, those who belong to Christ Jesus impaled the flesh together with its passions and desires. Galatians 5:22-24
as i'm sure we all know, the society has lied repeatedly in the past about what they preached regarding 1914 in the run up to that year, claiming that what was preached was that jesus was to become king in that year and his presence was to begin then etc, when in fact they were preaching that all this had already happened in 1874 and that the end of the world would come in 1914.. .
but does anyone know if they have repeated this lie about what they supposedly preached recently?

They just emphasized some of the trivial archeological details that conflict with Bible prophecy. The truth of the matter is the archeology is there to support 1914 even though some historical details conflict with the Biblical worldview. Accurately perceiving the Jehovah's view of the world and all of the war, famine, upheaval and corruption that has taken place since 1914 has something to do with reviving the mark from the secretary’s inkhorn as described in Ezekiel 9:3-4.
And as regards the glory of the God of Israel, it was taken up from over the cherubs over which it happened to be to the threshold of the house, and he began calling out to the man that was clothed with the linen, at whose hips there was the secretary’s inkhorn. And Jehovah went on to say to him: “Pass through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and you must put a mark on the foreheads of the men that are sighing and groaning over all the detestable things that are being done in the midst of it.” Ezekiel 9:3-4

Both science and religion, in their noblest forms, involve the search for truth. Science discovers a world of magnificent order, a universe that contains distinctive marks of intelligent design. True religion makes these discoveries meaningful by teaching that the mind of the Creator lies behind the design manifest in the physical world.
True religion has a consistent pattern of corresponding to universal truth. Some opposers tend to cherry pick through older publications for a mistaken viewpoint they try and exploit for self-serving purposes while ignoring core Bible truths the Watchtower Society has taught for many decades. A prior mistaken viewpoint that has been corrected doesn't change the fact that Jehovah's Witnesses teach the truth about the Bible nor does it mean a person doesn't have an accounting before God.

i've observed some forum users here that claim to be active witnesses (even claims to be ministerial servants or elders) while duplicitously supporting apostates online.
my contention is this; why attend meetings and/or participate in the preaching activity when the second you divulge your apostate thinking into the congregation, you'll be disfellowshipped?
while this action taken may seem to be harsh, the outworking of events wouldn't be much different in one of christendom's churches.
I'm just wondering... what is it that you Watchtower defenders think you're going to accomplish by coming here into "Tartarus" and preaching to us? Do you think have to save us?
I engage in religious and political discussions on the internet as a challenge. If I could “save” a person in an online discussion group, I would. Such a thing isn't possible.

Maze I am still in due to my family. If you have read threads and posts from members you would plainly see why MOST are still in.
I have a cousin that was raised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. When he graduated from college and left home he completely quit attending meetings. This doesn't change the fact that he's still welcome in the family. I personally wouldn't engage in or disengage in a religion for family related reasons. That would give me a headache. I guess it makes sense to someone, but I don't really understand this.

If I used a Catholic Church as a platform to proselytize I'd quickly be shown the door and asked to leave. That's why cathedrals, synagogues and mosques are not a part of Jehovah's Witnesses service territory.

A person can make honorable mention about what the Bible and Watchtower Society states about bad association.
Do not be misled. Bad associations spoil useful habits. (1 Corinthians 15:33)
A person cannot however point this at one of Jehovah's Witnesses like a loaded gun without inadvertently bringing adverse judgment on themselves considering what the Bible (Hebrews 10:26-31; 6:4-8) and the Watchtower Society (Watchtower 08/15/1969 pp. 511-512) says about apostasy.
Besides, all one of Jehovah's Witnesses would have to do to right a wrong is sign off an inappropriate website and never sign back on again or view any associated material.

The Watchtower's Society's admonishment about the internet is simply advice. It is not a sin to communicate on anonymous internet forums.
