Crimes committed by JWs
by Black Man inhey all, i'm still embroiled in my ongoing debate w/a few jw's and now we're on this tangent where they are saying that jws are the most peaceful and law abiding people in comparison to other religious people.
i said that's not true, there's been many news articles that detail various crimes committed by jws.
i couldn't find anything right away when i did a google search, so can someone point me to some threads or links that contain recent and past articles of jw's in trouble w/the law or who have committed crimes?.

http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/social/family/196218/1/My-letter-to-my-aunt
An exerpt:
It's worse for a women over 50 to sleep around and become callous and desensitized. There's no one that thinks you have any practical value as a family member. More like hollow and emotionally deficient. I'm back at the meetings and getting involved with a real family (the Christian congregation). As long as your grossly immoral I'll just write you off as bad association and of no use to me.
Please explain how this part proves the JW's value the family unit?
We'll leave "drama and dysfunction" aside for now.....
The grain of salt with my aunt was a small ripple in the fabric. Like I said, it was business related because I worked for her. In comparison (if you want to compare families), do you, have a husband and a daughter (or children) with no infidelity and/or divorce? I can answer yes and prove my end. If your answer is no, why should I have to argue with you or receive your personal attacks?

Well, no one's named a chicken after ME, have they, Alice?
Best to avoid the sweeping generalizations of my family, too. I'M not the one who wrote the scathing, hate-filled, self-righteous letter a relative.
I believe that was..........YOU.
LOL!
I never sent that letter. I worked for my aunt and got let go. It was a business matter. I have a much better job now anyway so me and my aunt get along just fine.

Yes, Charlie, Alice has no real experience here, just going by what she's heard from cult propaganda.
When my son told us he didn't want to go to meetings anymore, his father immediately kicked him out of the house. He was praised in the congregation for his excellent "tough love" stand.
And I was forbidden to talk to or help my son in any way.
What do you think? Do JW's break up families? Or all we all still just a bunch of liars, Alice?
That's your family, not mine or the majority I've been exposed to in Jehovah's Organazation. There are some Witnesses who don't put the Truth into practice in their personal and family life. If your family is full of drama, my condolences. I avoid dysfunctional people and families so run along. I care not to converse with you in case you don't know. It's always you that initiates conversation with me and not vise-versa. Are you getting the picture?

But when one partner belongs to a religion which claims to be absolutely right, and teaches contempt for the rest of the world, how can you compromise?
Atheists claim to be absolutely right. Theists claim to be absolutely right. These individuals are no different than Jehovah's Witnesses are on their stand on certainty. Agnostics are somewhere in the middle.
Jehovah's Witnesses don't treat the world with contempt.
Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. Therefore he who opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God; those who have taken a stand against it will receive judgment to themselves. For those ruling are an object of fear, not to the good deed, but to the bad. Do you, then, want to have no fear of the authority? Keep doing good, and you will have praise from it; for it is God’s minister to you for your good. But if you are doing what is bad, be in fear: for it is not without purpose that it bears the sword; for it is God’s minister, an avenger to express wrath upon the one practicing what is bad. Romans 13:1-4
Can a jw parent allow their child freedom to choose?
You do know that atheists don't allow others to take their children to church. People rear their children according to their core values and beliefs. Can they really respect their partners' right to believe differently?
I know plenty of Jehovah's Witnesses that have unbelieving mates and respect their spouses stand and beliefs. -

Empirical stats I have seen indicates that the divorce rate is the same for the Jehovah's Witnesses as the rest of society. All the literature education has not made a whit of difference.
http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/divorce.php
I'm not sure those statistics are accurate. What means did they use to gather that information? Do you even know? There's more involved than just “literature.” One thing I've noticed on these forums is people have a very superficial perception of Jehovah's Witnesses even though they claim they used to be one. Do you even know what the literature says?
In a nutshell...
Works for family and interpersonal relationships:
w07 7/15 p. 21 par. 2 Will You “Keep Walking by Spirit”?
As we “keep walking by spirit,” God’s active force will motivate us to obey Jehovah. We will display godly qualities in our ministry, in the congregation, at home, and elsewhere. The spirit’s fruitage will be evident in our dealings with our marriage mate, our children, our fellow believers, and others.
Does not work for family and interpersonal relationships:
g03 2/8 p. 13 Is There an Unforgivable Sin?Some people who were once faithful Christians have purposely drawn away from God, perhaps because of bitterness, pride, or greed, and are now apostate fighters against God’s spirit. They willfully oppose what the spirit is clearly accomplishing. Have these individuals committed the unforgivable sin? Jehovah is the final Judge.—Romans 14:12.
Rather than judging others, we do well personally to guard against committing secret sins that can gradually harden our hearts. (Ephesians 4:30) And we take comfort in the fact that Jehovah will forgive us in a large way, even of serious sins that we have committed, if we are repentant.—Isaiah 1:18, 19.
Not that everyone who's unrepentant and spiritually deficient is dysfunctional, but they're generally the people that adversely effect family and friends in the organization as they make their departure. That's been my direct observation.
There are people in my family that are not apostate but they're not one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Most of my siblings and several of my cousins were raised in the organization and later left. I don't try and force my beliefs on them and vice-versa. We rarely even talk about religion.

You guys have to remember that Maze is a troll here who keeps making new accounts to confuse some who he is. S/he has been here for a long time under different names so it's not like s/he cares to debate on a logical level. These people are here to stir shit up without regard for the truth as truth is not found in them but deception.
No, that has nothing to with my user name. Try again.

Had the magazines left at my house today and wanted to "SCREAM" after reading this article in the May 1,2011 WT
by StoneWall inthe article that caught my eye as i was thumbing through it was on page 18 entitled "a peaceable people defend their good name".
this was all about the issues being addresssed in russia and how the j.w.
's were being oppressed/repressed.. but if you look in the box to the left under "a note to the citizens of russia", you will see that they quote the scripture in luke 12:2 "there is nothing carefully concealed that will not be revealed, and secret that will not become known.".

Sexual immorality above all threatens family life. If the family unit had anything to do with what's motivating the Russian government, why don't they outlaw pornography?

If an organization came into my country and destroyed hundreds of thousands of families I would consider it an enemy of the society I was mandated to protect.
I would not consider them to be "A Peaceable People" after surveying the tremendous amount of damage done to my society and all other societies around the world. I do not think anyone should be "free" to destroy society through shattering once wholesome family units who are residing in it. In my opinion there is no "Good Name" to protect.
Instead, God's name, Jehovah, is being profaned.
I do not know however, if that is the reason for the Russian opposition to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
Try this using Google:
Jehovah's Witness Destroyed Family
Jehovah's Witnesses as an organization acts as a protection to the family unit.
If any man is reaching out for an office of overseer, he is desirous of a fine work. The overseer should therefore be irreprehensible, a husband of one wife, moderate in habits, sound in mind, orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach, not a drunken brawler, not a smiter, but reasonable, not belligerent, not a lover of money, a man presiding over his own household in a fine manner, having children in subjection with all seriousness; (if indeed any man does not know how to preside over his own household, how will he take care of God’s congregation?) not a newly converted man, for fear that he might get puffed up [with pride] and fall into the judgment passed upon the Devil. Moreover, he should also have a fine testimony from people on the outside, in order that he might not fall into reproach and a snare of the Devil. 1 Timothy 3:1-7
Nevertheless, also, let each one of you individually so love his wife as he does himself; on the other hand, the wife should have deep respect for her husband. Ephesians 5:33
What at times happens, is someone will turn their back on the Truth, make a mess out of their family life and out of bitter selfishness blame the whole thing on Jehovah's Witnesses. I don't know if you remember brotherdan, but when abandoned Jehovah's Organization he started harassing his wife who was still a Witness. I've been associated with Jehovah's Witnesses for over thirty years. I know exactly what goes on there. The lie that Jehovah's Witnesses ruin families is apostate poison. -

So apostates are having another feud with their “brethren?” I'm not sure how homosexuality factors into the situation. Maybe someone could elaborate?
"really cool discussions about homosexuality"
Are these discussions physical or philosophical?
...crazy ppl...
