A few Dawkins quotes to think about.
DAWKINS. WHAT A CHEERFUL FELLOW! JUST INSPIRING I TELL YOU! CARRY ON! THE CAR IS RUNNING IN THE GARAGE AND THE DOOR HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR YOU.
"faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence.
faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence.".
"my last vestige of "hands off religion" respect disappeared in the smoke and choking dust of september 11th 2001, followed by the "national day of prayer," when prelates and pastors did their tremulous martin luther king impersonations and urged people of mutually incompatible faiths to hold hands, united in homage to the very force that caused the problem in the first place.".

hell is pretty much out of vogue these days so if this rabid atheist decidedly turns his back on god and/or christ what will become of me?.
When They (Son and Father) come to earth, I'm willing to bet the atheists are going to be the first to embrace Them.
Tee hee hee.

Surprised by joy — impatient as the Wind
I turned to share the transport — Oh! with whom
But Thee, deep buried in the silent tomb,
That spot which no vicissitude can find?
Love, faithful love, recalled thee to my mind —
But how could I forget thee? Through what power,
Even for the least division of an hour,
Have I been so beguiled as to be blind
To my most grievous loss? — That thought's return
Was the worst pang that sorrow ever bore,
Save one, one only, when I stood forlorn,
Knowing my heart's best treasure was no more;
That neither present time, nor years unborn
Could to my sight that heavenly face restore.
by no means a new topic for discussion but always worth a fresh airing .
i'd suggest that the 1st century was quite a well documented time.
we have lots of historical evidence for important people who actually existed.
Lucian of Samosata was satirist not a historian.
Tacitus wrote that the belief about Christus is a "pernicious superstition."
Suetonius was a historian, and he mentions those pain in the neck Christians in his history of Claudius.

Claudius was emperor in the 40s and 50s. That is pretty darned close to the time that Jesus is said to have lived, until the 30s. Already he had a following that was annoying the Emperor through their refusal to worship him.

Even the earliest Jewish anti-Christian polemics never denied Jesus' existence. That is, in poker parlance, a major tell.
If he didn't exist, that would have been the easiest and best argument for them to make, and they never made it.
The same goes for the Romans, they were killing Christians under Nero. It was a persecuted sect. We do not read of any Roman arguments that he did not exist in extant writings.
i finally resigned as an elder.
my conscience wouldn't allow me to continue.
i've battled for years trying to reconcile the fallacies of the wt society with my own personal beliefs.
I feel your pain, Massey. Lots of us do. It is a hard road, but once you realize the truth about the truth, it is the only one.

When we die, we choose where our souls go.
If we choose to be with God, we go to him to be with him.
If we choose something other than God, that is where our souls spend eternity.
God does not want any soul to suffer, he calls all to Himself....but God respects the free will with which he has endowed all human souls.
The human soul was made to be in union with nothing less than the greatest and the best. It was made in the image of God.
However, some of us will love other things more than we love God.
There is nothing in existence that is intrinsically evil. God made all things, and they are all good.
However, evil consists of essentially assigning a higher value to something than it ought to have. It is a disordered love.
Some souls will love lesser things more than greater things, even the greatest thing of all, and they will choose the lesser at death for themselves.
To spend eternity with anything less than what our souls were made for is what I would call Hell.
Even in this life, we see people taste Heaven and Hell for themselves, but this is just a shadow of what these things really are.
The joy of heaven and the misery of hell are experienced fully after we die.

That picture is just plain disturbing.
if men could menstruateby gloria steinem.
a white minority of the world has spent centuries conning us into thinking that a white skin makes people superior - even though the only thing it really does is make the more subject to ultraviolet rays and to wrinkles.
male human beings have built whole cultures around the idea that penis envy is "natural" to women - though having such an unprotected organ might be said to make men vulnerable, and the power to give birth makes womb envy at least as logical.in short, the characteristics of the powerful, whatever they may be, are thought to be better than the characteristics of the powerless - and logic has nothing to do with it.what would happen, for instance, if suddenly, magically, men could menstruate and women could not?the answer is clear - menstruation would become an enviable, boast-worthy, masculine event:men would brag about how long and how much.boys would mark the onset of menses, that longed-for proof of manhood, with religious ritual and stag parties.congress would fund a national institute of dysmenorrhea to help stamp out monthly discomforts.sanitary supplies would be federally funded and free.
Being male is not a bed of roses. We are more likely to die at any period in life.
we all know jws must live by many rules.
mostly they are called "principles" because the wts doesn't want to appear to be like the scribes and pharisees that christ condemned.
so they renamed them as something other than "rules".
