Wonderful news about Ali....and something to warm your heart
by coffee_black inas i have posted, my daughter ali has been in the cardiac intensive care unit since thursday.
her bp, heartrate and blood sugar went sky high, due to horrible coughing spells from a chest cold that left her gasping for air.. she has congestive heart failure, and has been treated for almost a year now.
she has improved over that year, but this was a real setback.. ali called me today with amazing news.

Christians Please Explain
by AK - Jeff insince leaving all organized religion, all superstition, all acceptance of deity, i have a terrible time truly understanding 'religious' thought.. i really do.. how is it possible for thinking people to just accept, without proof, all they accept?
this morning i overheard a conversation between two christians in a coffee shop.
they say to me 'dad, what's wrong with just being a nice, good person?

Religion spoils everything - Christopher Hitchens
Its humorous how on threads like these atheists often end up quoting Dawkins or Hitchens and so on. It isn't much different than a biblethumper who has to add a Bible text to every post. It's like an atheist canon or something. Really there isn't much of a difference between fundies when it comes to intolerance. They are more alike than they are different, it seems to me.

Speaking of hunched backs, IBM's numbers don't look too good this afternoon.

I don't like the FF. Much prefer the 599 or the 458.

Isn't the 458 based off an alien scout ship's hull? See? Back on topic.

Property rights involve the right to use a good, to earn income from it, the right to transfer it to another party.
If I do not have the right to transfer my property to someone else, then I do not have property rights. That is all inheritance is, and wills are made to dispose of a person's property according to their wishes while they are still alive. Many of us work very hard not so much for ourselves, but to be able to give good gifts to our children now and later.

Isn't that next to the location where they study alien artifacts in order to reverse engineer them for the next generation of mainframes?
