  Brilliant stuff as usual SYN! "Young people dating" is a popular spectator sport for the brothers and sisters at your local hall, every glance and word and touch is seen by everyone, it just makes my skin crawl! I am soooo glad I didn't get married in my younger years - it makes it much less complicated for me to get out now.

  Pris, I remember when the "Young People Ask" book was released and when the "Youth" book was released too. On both occasions they asked all the teenagers to sit in a separate section of the convention ground so that the speaker could direct a special talk toward them and release the book. I was too young to sit with the teens on the first release and too old to sit with the teens on the second release. This was not a good plan really was it? Get teens all sitting together with all their raging hormones in them, all away from their parents, and so do you seriously think that any of them would want to pay attention to a talk? I don't think so!

  now that it's dispensed with its annual ``don't you dare partake" in advance of their spring travesty of a communion, the faithful and discreet slave shifts its focus to another seasonal perennial: the km's recurrent exhortation to ``mind your manners at this summer's district conventions.

  by ``connecting the dots" between the leadership's admonition to mind one's manners at the hotel, to tip approriately, to avoid ``double-dipping'' by eating and then loading up on unapproved takeaways for lunch at hotels that prvide complimentary breakfast, to refrain from losing all inhibitions in after-hour socializing and to forego the donning of outlandish skin-tight (or conversely loose fitting ``hip-hop" outfits) forte duration of the assembly, a picture quite different from the idealized notion of jws being a worldwide fraternity of solidly mature, temperate ministers who lives find fulfilment only in the service of god and their fellow man.. what sort of adults need to be lectured in such terms, let alone a group that boasts of its aloofness from satan's world?

  what does it suggest about leadership's awareness of how far removed from reality the rank and file is from their literature's stylized imagery?

  HM, children that are forced to sit still through endless dreary talks at the convention may very well go bananas once they leave the stadium. It's a release of a pressure valve. I don't think Jehovah's Witnesses are on the whole badly behaved at convention hotels really any more than any other group, but so much play is made of them conducting themselves so well in comparison to "worldly" people in the pages of the Watchtower and the Kingdom Ministry, they can't possibly live up to that kind of build up!

  i didn't want to hijack the thread but reading:.

  http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/50019/1.ashx gave me an idea.. what are all the the ways that witnesses are like other religions or organizations.

  that way when they come back with the reply that they are seperate from the world we can say say..."well not really when you look at it and here's why".

  The Weather!!????

  yippee the sun has come at last.... the uk has not had any rain now for at least 4 weeks(a good soaking) oh dear we will soon be on drought warning!!.

  but it is hot hot hot especially for april... lets hope it continues right the way through the summer..... watch i bet it rains at the weekend - typical seeing that it is a holiday weekend.... but enjoy while it lasts..... sun tan annie.

  It's very strange Mrs Nightwarrior! It's actually hotter in England at the moment than Greece, Italy and Spain! It was 81F yesterday afternoon, it's really too early in the year for this kind of weather.

  [SYN] is Irish!!!

  this weekend a close relative got married, so i went along to the service, chafing at the bit the whole time i was in the church (dutch reformed, if it makes any difference).

  as usual, i could feel myself getting subliminally drawn into what the pastor was talking about, although you could say i disagreed with him on some fundamental points, but yours truly kept quiet as he was sitting next to his grandfather .

  personally i always thought i was 100% dutch.

  If you think that the Dutch are sexually repressed SYN, then you must be into some seriously weird stuff. I can't imagine what you must get up to of an evening. I only hope they keep Johannesburg Zoo well locked up at night!
