Daddy long legs..a cruel and unusual punishment
by Brummie inwhen i was a kid we used to catch daddy long legs and throw them into spiders webs on the trees outside...then when the spider had finished of the dllegs we would throw the spider into a bigger spiders web and watch them battle it out....sick huh, i kinda like these things now so couldnt hurt em but any insect that used to come into contact with us had a cruel existence.
anyhow i just heard that the most poisonous insect of all insects is daddy long legs.
just an interesting something that i thought i would share before i go a swatting .

Tax question for any uk posters
by toddy in.
my mates last wage slip was different this month,he seems to be paying more tax than usual,so he went and asked the boss and was told that the whole country is on emergency tax at the moment so we are all paying more and should recieve a rebate in the future,he's been with the company for over 10 years so it's not as if he's a new employee who always start off on emergency tax.. iv'e never heard anything like this before?
is something dodgy going on

You only go on emergency tax when your present employer hasn't received your P45 from your last job. It sounds like his payroll department has messed up big time!

follower or leader, what are you?
by SpiceItUp ini have noticed on this board that most people either start alot of threads or just respond to them.. someone told me that its because of where individuals get their inspiration.
those that start threads get their inspiration from other sources and those that usually just post to them get their inspiration from the thread subject.. what would you say you are?.
minimus & jh need not respond as we all know what they are .

Baaaaaaaaaa! What do you think!
The last time I got an idea for a thread I used the search facility here and found that the subject had already come up, and so I just responded to the relevant thread, bringing the subject back to the top.
I don't mind if a subject is repeated here when the last time it came up was a very long time ago, but some people, especially when posting news links, don't seem to take the trouble to look at any of the other recent posts - they just hit and run - and before you know it you get about half a dozen threads with exactly the same subject.

How Much for Vol.7 of "Studies in the Scri...
by Prisca inan amazing thing happened to me today.. i was in a neighbouring suburb, and wandered into a nondescript second-hand bookshop.
i asked where the religious books were, and the elderly shop-keeper pointed to the single shelf, stacked full with books.. amongst them was a faded red book entitled, "studies in the scriptures series 7 - the finished mystery".. i could not believe my luck.
here was a rare book, sitting innocently amongst books far younger than their companion.. i gingerly opened it up and browsed its contents.

I guess I was a little impatient there! (((Prisca))) You're welcome.
Brummie - if you never have occasion to read them then they would be useful for someone who does research on the Witnesses, so go for it! I wish I could sell all my old Russell and Rutherford books and those 78s, and the old Golden Age's, Watchtowers and Consolations, but they aren't really mine, they're my parent's. -

I don't like the word dub being used to describe Jehovah's Witnesses because I've always known dub as a truly excellent genre of music. For those of you unfamiliar with Jamaican music, dub is a very psychedelic, bass heavy type of reggae made popular by King Tubby back in the 70's and more recently by Mad Professor.
You mentioned Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the moon, well, there's an album called Dub Side of the Moon that is absolutely brilliant and is definitely worth a listen. -

by UnDisfellowshipped ini just wanted to let you know, in case you didn't hear about it yet, that the silentlambs (jehovah's witness child abuse victims) are going to be interviewed tonight on "cbs evening news" (6:30 eastern time; 5:30 central time).. i believe child abuse survivors heidi and amber, and also bill bowen are going to appear on the program, but i am not 100% sure.. i saw the tv commercial for the interview, and the commercial said it was coming on tuesday, april 29th, 2003 on cbs evening news!.
"beyond the catholic church -- another church under fire for child sexual abuse scandal".

Daddy long legs must taste very nice to cats as my cat consumes vast numbers of them in the latter part of the summer. It's quite a horrible sight when she's chewing away and the legs are dangling out of her mouth, especially if they are still moving! Does anyone else's cats do this?
