Pataks is a family owned firm which has a great rags-to-riches history. They makes some wonderful stuff, it's always handy to have a few jars in the cupboard just in case.

Just what constitutes a "good seat" at an assembly?
by xjw_b12 inblondies post on an earlier thread re the gate crashers at the assemblies running to "save" the best seats got me to thinking..
just what constitutes a "good seat" at an assembly?
i've never quite understood that.

It's sods law that if you get a good seat next to an aisle for a swift exit without disturbing anyone in the row, you will not once want to go to the toilet mid session, but if you end up sitting right in the middle of a row you will want to get up to pee during the first talk!

Last Meeting
by Nosferatu infor those who have been out for a while, was there anything special about the very last meeting you attended (excluding memorials)?
was there anything incredibly memorable about it?

How spooky, I was going to ask the very same question today! I'm only a couple of weeks away from attending my very last meeting and although I feel relieved that I won't have to go again, after a year and a half of fading I feel very odd right now. I still have a strong attachment to many people I've grown up with in the congregations I've attended during my life, and I'm wondering whether it will be something that will hit me hard emotionally. Nobody will know it's my last meeting apart from me by the way. I look forward to hearing others comments.

I suppose in that circumstance the Society would need a plane to get to all those isolated communities, but it must be an extremely expensive business for the Circuit Overseer to fly around the congregations - he would need a pilot to come along with him as well, and his needs would have to be catered for as well. Unless they train the CO's to fly as well, that wouldn't surprise me!
Thank you for all your research today, it's been very interesting!
BTW you will not be able to post that link, so don't even try - trust me - as I said before, it's impossible unless you use a non-IE browser - even if you click on HTML mode it will still mess up the link - one for Simon to look at maybe? -

Doh! I wish I could be there! Have a great time Valis!
...Remember friends in reggae circles DUB MUSIC does not mean Kingdom Melodies, you won't be hearing "From House to House" or anything like that! It means Mad Professor, King Tubby, Augustus Pablo, Scientist etc... All wicked stuff, and particularly good with a herbal cigarette or two... -

Stinky/Amazing - On a link that contains a "&" symbol, the software on this board changes it to "&" - this makes the link not work. You won't be able to edit it either (unless you use a non-IE browser). Copy the text of the link and paste it on the address bar to make it work.

...Back from the Convention today.
by ScoobySnax inok so i braved the traffic in london all along the south circular to nw london to get to twickenham convention today.
i must admit to getting a bit freaked when the traffic ground to a halt in central london, but eventually got to the stadium.
well i only got to the sunday pm part of the programme, for the public discourse, "who are giving god glory today"....handled by a very able speaker.

Scooby, I was also at the Twickenham Convention and can relate to all your comments. The Witnesses have had conventions at the rugby union ground at Twickenham for nearly 50 years. When you go there you remember all the good times you had in previous years. The talks are reassuring and sugar coated. There's nothing wrong, we have "the truth" - it's "the truth" no matter what. You hear the experiences, how people have triumphed through adversity, you are warned that you yourself will be persecuted "without cause". Then you meet up with all your old friends. You go into the Rose Room under the south stand and you meet up with the elderly ones that you have known since you were a child. It's a big draw, and it's fully intended to be so. Don't ever attempt to reason with a Witness when they have just returned from a convention, they are in a state of euphoria which is difficult to break down.
