by under_believer inreading crisis of conscience by raymond franz today i came across an account of how knorr acted when franz, alone among governing body members, suggested that the monarchial system of absolute power vested in knorr and his predecessors was unscriptural, and since they had removed that arrangement from the congregations (replacing it with a body of elders arrangement) they should do the same thing at the headquarters: in each case of my doing so, however, the president took the remarks very personally, speaking at great length, his voice tense and forceful, saying that 'evidently some were not satisfied with the way he was handling his job.
' he would go into great detail as to the work he was performing and then would say 'now apparently some don't want me to handle things anymore' and that perhaps he should 'bring it all down here and turn it over to ray franz and let him handle it.
yes folks, this was the way the society's president from 1942 to 1976 acted.

A really good book about Watchtower history
by Gary1914 ini recently discovered a great book which i would like to recommend.
it is called a people for his name and it was written by a jehovah's witness named timothy white.
i love this book and it helps one to see the origins of many things taught by the witnessing such as disfellowshipping and the blood doctrine.

there seems to have been 2 or 3 different covers on the ypa book since the ones who have been replaced have been disfellowshipped for fornication and other sins.. can anyone post these different covers?

Have you got an American accent yet?
I don't think I have, but I'm bound to have picked up a little of the lingo here and there. I've met some UK ex-pats that have been here 10-20 years and still have their accents and others that have lost theirs completely.
I think Spice has picked up my accent a little bit - she especially likes to use British rude words - don't you think ARSE sounds better than ASS?
Here in Florida some people have taken advantage of the lack of understanding of rude British words: -
