i am trying to locate a jehovah witness hall to visit a meeting in the preston lancashire area in the uk

I'm Matty. Seems like daveh2001uk has got what he wants out of me and bogged off. It also looks like you were as surprised as the rest of us that he would want to use this site to locate a kingdom hall. It's a bit like going into an alcoholics anonymous meeting to ask where the nearest pub is!
i have spent the last week or so with my sister and bro-in-law and my 6year old niece, all jws.
they live in a town not too far away from me, and i visit them every couple of months or so.
my sister and i are close, not extremely so, but we appreciate each other as we have no other bros & sisters, our mother died 21yrs ago, and our father treats us as though we are dead too (due to non-jw issues).. last time i went to visit them, my bro-in-law asked my niece to ask me if i'd go to the meeting.
Alex, you are thinking along the same lines as me. I can imagine they must sincerely think that if Prisca goes through the Watchtower with her niece she might get a "Road to Damascus" type of experience. It was so stage managed!
(((Prisca))) I don't know what to say other than they sincerely think you are going to die at Armageddon, and will do anything to reel you back in the troof again! It's their twisted way of showing you love. I really feel for you, it's just an awful situation. When Jehovah's Witnesses' righteous indignation turns into blackmail and manipulative and aggressive behaviour, it's just deplorable. An example of this that I've personally experienced is the way my dad communicated to me the importance of doing things Jehovah's way while I was growing up. If I didn't want to go out on the service on a Saturday or Sunday morning he would make all kind of threats to me about Armageddon, and Jehovah's judgement of me, and stuff to frighten me into changing my mind. He would never believe me if I said I was unwell! Oddly, I would always feel better if I actually went afterward - because it would mean if the END came on Saturday night I would be saved!!!

Because when I first started my guilty lurking here when I was a staunch JW, I thought "Wow, all these people are from interesting places?!" Duh!

would a jw ever admit that s/he has doubts about the wt teachings?
do they have the order to pretend they believe everything or could they discuss what bothers them?.
i assume they have to pretend they think everything is dandy and the teachings logical when they speak with elders or other witnesses.
Not one who still believes it's the truth, he or she will do anything to gain a potential convert. If you are put off in any way the witness will feel bloodguilty.

Mimilly, I was more amused by you and others skilfully putting the SOB down for his moronic rants, so his threads are kinda entertaining in some ways, but hes certainly not worth all the hurt thats been caused, Id prefer all our angst to be directed toward the GB!

I am a known witness at work. There are other witnesses where I work. People don't understand. They talk. I want to go when I'm good and ready, I don't want to get chucked out!

Spot on Roy, that was me to a T not so long ago.
With me it was faith, I didn't have enough faith, I wasn't getting enough spirit, I wasn't going out on the ministry enough to get the spirit to make me understand the things I had doubts about.

Absolutely. McAfee or Nortons will sort it. Please don't switch off your email because of it. Amongst the crap I've got on my email I've made many wonderful friends here that I wouldn't have made if I had blocked my email. The best thing to do is have a special email address that is only used here, in that way you know why and where you got the mail.
