  Thunderbirds are go

  i went to see thunderbirds last night - i used to love thunderbirds when i was a kid and when i was an adult.

  this film however left me a little dissappointed.

  anyother film recently you have seen that left you feeling let-down?

  If people haven't heard of the old 60's series Thunderbirds before I'm sure they do now. I was flipping through the channels last Friday and saw the show three times! One channel was showing it continuously all day and all night through the whole weekend.

  Congregation Picnics

  my former congregation usually had a congregation picnic once a year.

  all of the brothers (a/k/a men) had to pay for all of the food.

  the sisters (a/k/a women) had the godly priviledge of serving the food.

  The social events in my congregation in London were (1) Ice Skating (2) Barn Dances (3) Trips to the British Museum (4) Picnics (5) Trips to the Safari Park. That was about it for "Elder Approved" congregational trips. Some brothers and sisters often got together for trips to Thorpe Park or Chessington World of Adventures or Alton Towers but they weren't given the "stamp of approval" by being mentioned in the Announcements at the Service meeting. That way they could pick and choose who were invited, but some people always refused to go to anything that wasn't congregationally approved.

  Yes, this reminds me of the days when being in a Jehovah's Witness congregation was much more of an extended (albeit disfunctional) family than it is now. My congregation (in London) had them very regularly in the 70's as well. I think all that counsel about "large gatherings" put paid to big get-togethers of all sorts, you're quite right Mini.

  Yes, I'm really dissapointed that I couldn't make it this year, I was looking forward to seeing you again and introducing you to SpiceItUp as you couldn't make our wedding. I hope to get over to the UK as quickly as I can after I get my travel documents sent to me from US immigration - I'll keep you updated!
