  Life after death

  everyone has different views about life after death and whether or not it is a possibility.. as jehovah's witnesses, we were always taught that there is no life after death, that this is the only life we have now and that the wages of sin is death.. .

  what are your views on life after death?.

  I don't know. I can't prove that there is, and I can't prove that there isn't. Either viewpoint would require some level of faith.

  An Intro and apology.

  i have been an avid reader on this site for a few years and have weighed in on a few topics and introduced a few more without introducing myself.

  for this i apologise.

  the main reason for my reticence is that being a second generation born in but having been baptised in the 50s i will find it difficult to make an introduction without giving the game away.

  i'm an active jehovah's witness.

  i've obviously lost my faith, that's why i don't feel bad posting here anymore.

  i'd probably be disfellowshipped as a division causing, teaching, apostate, faster than you can say "maher-shalal-hash-baz" (isaiah 8:1), should it be found out that i was posting here and did not repent of the things i've said and stop participating in this forum.

  pirata that was one of the most astute posts I've read in a while. I have many of the same questions - you articulated them very well.

  Any Witness who frequents this type of site (while I certainly welcome them), would have to be considered very "spiritually weak", based on the very same literature and organization they profess to espouse.

  two weeks ago i let everybody know we made it safe to our new home.

  what i did not tell you the move was very hard on me.

  i ended up straining my right shoulder so bad i could not even keep my arm up on the key board to type.

  NBA playoffs

  i've seen some great posts here about the nhl playoffs, and they've definitely been great so far.. i've also been pleasantly surprised by the nba playoffs so far this year.

  usually in the nba playoffs, things are so predictable - the favorite almost always wins, teams tend to win 2 or 3 titles in a row, etc.

  okla city vs dallas, chicago vs miami - pretty good final 4, with some great story lines.

  I've seen some great posts here about the NHL playoffs, and they've definitely been great so far.

  I've also been pleasantly surprised by the NBA playoffs so far this year. Usually in the NBA playoffs, things are so predictable - the favorite almost always wins, teams tend to win 2 or 3 titles in a row, etc. Okla City vs Dallas, Chicago vs Miami - pretty good final 4, with some great story lines. Also 4 teams that a lot of people wouldn't have expected to see here at the beginning of the year!

  I'm not frightened anymore

  if i were to introduce you to the old jw style sister highdose, you would meet someone who was terrified of everything.

  meeting new people, public speaking, driving, everything in the world especailly worldly people, swimming, drinking in bars, walking the streets, unauthorised banned books, "dodgy demonic films", music, apostates, getting lost and much else.

  i lived in fear of the great and terrible unknown that might come and "get" me!.

  College Football Rivalries

  not sure if this is the right location for this, but i'm missing college football, and it won't be starting up for a while!.

  i thought i'd ask what everyone's favorite college football rivalry is.. some of my favorites:.

  oklahoma vs. oklahoma st. - bedlam.

  The Virginia vs Virginia Tech Commonwealth Cup dates back to 1895!!! Over 115 years of good hard nosed VA football.

  My personal favorite game between the Wolverines and Buckeyes was in 2006 when Ohio St. came in #1 at 11-0 and Michigan #2 at 11-0 and Ohio St. held off a relentless push by Michigan and won 42-39. It has been called "The Game of the Century".
