Rayvin: EXACTLY!! They are known throughout the world for selectively quoting scriptures. If they can do it, why can't this person selectively quote their material? They also selectively quote encyclopedias and other reference books when trying to "prove" a point, although they lie and use such quoting to defend THEIR beliefs. If this isn't the pot calling the kettle black, I don't know what is. I've never seen such bigger hypocrites in my life. Even the Nazis (and don't anyone jump on me, I hate what they did) didn't forbid cameras, notebooks, and other "recording" devices when the higher-ups met and decided to commit genocide. The WT keeps it damage control meetings strictly "verbal" so there won't be incriminating letters put out that might make their way to the Internet. I hope these sub-human creatures burn in Hell. Nothing would please me more in life, including winning 10 million dollars in the lottery, to see the WT destroyed for good. I hope I live long enough. WTS requesting insurance checks? Verification?
by EscapedLifer1 ini have read comments on several threads about the wts policy on asking folks whose homes have been repaired/rebuilt by jw volunteers to sign over their insurance checks to the wts?.
is there any kind of paper proof of this policy anywhere?

I think the whole thing stinks like hell. The brothers work for free, the WT gets the glory in the media. What happened to "you received free, give free". Don't regular JW families have other things to spend that insurance money on than filling the huge chests of gold that the WT has in NYC? If they are going to pay to have their houses repaired, then why don't they just hire brothers who do this type of work and pay them. I'm sure the brothers could use the money. Taking several weeks off from their private contracting business or using their vacation time and receiving no pay must not be too much fun for them or their families. Actually, the WT is nothing but a middleman, which neither party needs. What a crock of sh*t. Every week I hear something more outrageous about these perverted cultists. When will it stop?? Next, they'll start charging newly interested people for their gas when they pick them up for meetings or field service. This is not charity, it's a business. And the WT didn't get to be number 38 out of the top 50 corporations in net worth in NYC by just doing Bible studies. They've got their filthy, greedy hands into everything they can possible get away with. I'm sure we'll soon see people being charged for wedding talks, funeral discourses, and possibly a parking fee at the Hall for every meeting. They do it at the Conventions, why not locally? Or maybe a "seat tax" for a chair at the meetings?

Hi Jay: I read your entire story years ago and loved it. I'm a writer also and hope to have a book done within the year exposing the abuse issues since my daughter was raped at 9 years old by a molester known to the elders. They knew he was at our home occasionally and told us nothing. All of this shows that the WT is the biggest bunch of manure in the world. The demons have better morals than anyone at Bethel. At least you know what you are facing (if they exist, I'm now a confirmed agnostic). I hope they rot in hell. (The WT, not the demons.)

This 2 witnesses idea is total BS. My daughter was molested (raped) from the age of nine until she was 13. The local police arrested her abuser as soon as she told us what had been happening. He had to post bail. He was indicted twice by grand juries after they heard ONLY my child's testimony. It went to court and he went to jail. He denied it until the day of sentencing, then realized he wasn't going to get away with it. I will say that the local JW's shunned him (he DA'd himself the day of the sentencing so he wouldn't be DF'd) and refused to be character witnesses for him as some often do, such as in stories on Silent Lambs, where I am very active. I have a BA in Psychology and RARELY does any child make up a story about being molested. The courts know this and prosecute on the word of the child alone. And I'd like to ask the WT child-raping cult about this scripture: Deut. 22:25-27. Here only the word of the woman is needed to have the man killed. Why is this scripture always ignored by those animals who run the Bethel Zoo??? What does anyone think about this?? Thank you. Please post on www.silentlambs.org and I'll see it.

Before I write this, I ask everyone's forgiveness and understanding. I am not saying these things to brag, but to point out what might have been. I have finally quit and my wife is leaving me because (I hate the WT much too much for her to return to me), even if our child died. I asked her last week that if our child died of suicide or anorexia (she has only an 80% chance of surviving until she turns 25 years old), how could she defend NOT moving back in with me. Her answer was my hatred of the WT and that "Jehovah will fix things in his time and that any bad elders would be punished". I did love her, but I cannot tolerate such idiotic thinking any longer.
She claimed she moved out because our child feared I would kill her because I threatened to kill the man who raped her when she was about ten years old. Why would I kill my child when I loved her so much that I wanted to kill the people who hurt her? Obviously, there were marital issues as well, which I later confirmed after receiving my degree in psychology. I know many of these facts will make it easier for the WT spies to possibly flush me out at last and DF me (I'm currently reproved), but I don't give a damn anymore. My daughter, now about 20 years old, hasn't spoken to me in 2 years and has made it plain that she isn't going to for a long time. I know she might change, but I'll have to wait.
Back to what not going to college cost. I had 3 years toward a teaching degree. I went to work to earn the money to finish. I became a JW and wanted to finish the degree, have a few kids, and have my wife quit her job forever (in the medical field). I would have been a principal or university professor by now. I love school and became a network engineer and taught at a computer school for years and won many awards and was promoted to the position over all the other instructors (over 30 of them). I play several musical instruments well enough to have taught them for a living. I was student conductor in high school and started to write a symphony at the age of 16. My IQ tested at 150 and this opened many doors of opportunity to me. My wife was working hard already after 2 years of marriage (no child yet) because I worked part-time so I could be a servant. She never complained once that I should give up all of my privileges and get a better job so she would have an easier life. Believe me, I wanted to. I asked the PO what I had to do to qualify to go from being a MS to an elder. He said to keep doing what I was doing. I mentioned college and buying a house and he unloaded on me about this being Satanic. (Yet his children all went to college and he bought a big house in San Diego shortly afterwards.)
My wife to this day throws in my face that she earned more money than I did. Yet whenever she was complimented on having a husband who was a book study conductor because the elders wanted to use me (although there were elders who didn't have a book study), being the school counselor for the school in the back room (rarely given to a non-elder), and many other privileges, her smile of pride went from ear to ear. I can't stand the hypocrisy any longer. If I had gone to college, she and the elders would have been on my case. When I did what the WT said, she resented having to work. After 7 years of marriage, we decided to have a child, which added more work to her life. I also got blamed for that.
How do you reason with this kind of thinking? How do you keep from punching an elder in the nose who said, "I've been in the truth since the late 1980's, and I've never heard of any ban on college." What a jackass. Well, I've been around JW's since 1971 and I DO remember the WT's attitude about college. My father is so happy that I quit this "sick, child-raping cult". He mourns for the wasted 30 years of my life and what I could have become if I had pursued my abilities. I now intend to get my master's and then doctorate, write books about WT child abuse, and to become a therapist. Better late than never. I'd be eager to hear of any other person's story if you endured something similar. And again, please, I am not writing this because of pride or to brag. I am just trying to show what could have been versus the jobs I did end up with (school bus driver, clerk, minimum wage, etc.) I thank anyone in advance for posting anything concerning this topic.

Let's add "with ink, with a stink, with a blink (the light keeps blinking on and off), written with a drink (at least when Rutherford was around), written by and for finks (since they squeal on everyone else), and the most important, "written without a THINK", since they don't know how to do that at all. If the UN is the wild beast and the great whore of Babylon rides on it as several of their books show in pictures, then didn't the WT climb up on the back of that same beast, wrap its arms around the whore, smell her perfume, feel her body, spiritually/symbolically commit fornication with the whore while both were riding on the back of the beast, and then try to jump off when people noticed? Then they deny it while having the whore's lipstick on their collars, smell of her perfume, and other assumptions that I can leave out (STD's, pregnancy, etc.). What's the difference? If you walk into the red light district or ride the beast, you are a "John". The cops arrest people for that. So why should God feel any different? I can be DF'd for fornication, but the WT can do it openly, and if I complain, I'M the one who is wrong? Does anyone else see the irony here? When will the average JW wake up and stop blindly swallowing the regurgitated vomit of the GB? Are JW's little birds who just eat, do, obey, whatever "Mother" bird says? I honestly believe that people have forgotten how to think. What a world.

At last finished reading Crisis of Conscience

and what an eye opener it was...dont get me wrong i faded some 10 years ago and the reasons for such were contained in the book, i.e 1914, failed prophecies and so forth.. the expose is disarming by its objective style and whilst i now read any literature through sceptical eyes i could see a person genuinely grieved by what had taken place and the crisis he was subjected to conscientiously; it said it all to me when he said that his aim was not to divert people from the jws but give them support so they could develop as christians and therefore allow them to come to their own conclusions (or words to that effect).. extremely well written and consise with reams of references (which i happen to love).. anyone that is recently out must read this book...it objective, honest and was totally surprising in parts.. db74

I have a degree in psychology and am writing several books now. C of C was one of the most fair, loving, intuitive, and kind books that I've ever seen that was written by anyone who used to be a JW. Most people just trash the WT, which any 4 year old has the brain to do. I especially liked the "apostasy" label. First, if you look up the word in the dictionary, it is anyone who has fallen away from a pervious belief, usually religious. Since most JW's were converted and not raised as JW's from infancy up, I think it's fair to say that all JW's are apostates, since they fell away from whatever religion they used to be. I strongly object to the WT's use of the word, equating it with "traitor, enemy of God, fighters against the Bible", etc. (When was the last time you saw someone in a boxing ring beating up a Bible? I mean, really!) Grow up!!! The arrogance of the WT believing that they ARE God, no matter what denials they issue to the rank and file, is insane. After the thousands of errors in their writings and prophecies, they should be ashamed to be called JW's. I'm embarrassed that I ever belonged. Ray Franz gave them far more decent treatment than they gave him, and far more than they deserved. My books will NOT be so kind. My child was raped when 9 years old and she and my wife STILL defend this sick cult. "Jehovah will fix everything in his own due time." Sorry, I'm not waiting. No offense to those who still believe, but I'm a confirmed agnostice and will remain so until my death. In my book, when you have the power to relieve suffering and you don't, and you are the ONLY one who could stop it now, you are morally responsible, criminally negligent, and I would question the sanity of any God who allows the suffering I observe every day. This leads to the assumptions that the WT makes when claiming to be God's channel. Where are the soup kitchens? Where are the vans filled with clothing that could be cruising NYC on cold days giving away old clothing to the poor, cold people living on the streets? I know my post included a few tangents, but I think people will learn more if they explore the various angles relative to the WT.

Buck: I'm not an expert and there are exceptions to what I'm going to tell you. But I have a degree in psychology and was a servant for years, being baptized in 1977. My daughter was raped when 9 years old by a "brother" (read "pig who is going to die when I am ready to kill him"). This religion is a cult, period. No offense to those who are happily married or disagree with me. I'm not perfect (ask my soon to be ex-wife), but I've done thousands of hours of research on this cult and I am active on Silent Lambs. I know very few people in my life who know more about the WT's history than I do. Certainly no JW in my state does.
No one wants to think about Russell and Rutherford because THEY didn't know how to think. They were both clinically insane, and that is a professional assessment. I'm going for my Doctorate and I'll never back down from my observations. If you get involved in this cult, you bear and share responsibility for what they do, including the child abuse issue. Do you want that on your conscience? And no matter what they say, they do NOT serve God, and I'm an agnostice who could care less if God exists.
Another very important point is your "significant other". First, and no offense, the fact that she is a JW would make me wonder about her and why she still is one. I quit after learning of the WT's past and its current policies on child abuse. In my opinion, no thinking person could morally remain a JW. There are plenty of verses that they themselves use about "get out of her, my people, if you don't want to receive her plagues", talking about leaving false religion or you share the blame. Well, the WT is a false CULT, so how much might God blame you if you joined this sick organization? Individual JW's might be nice people, but so were millions of Germans who thought they were just being "patriotic". Many were executed, because this is no excuse. Do you want a mate who will now control your love and relationship? Who can threaten to leave you at any time if you don't follow the party line?
My wife left me a few years after our daughter came forth and was finally able to tell us that she had been molested. I am also a network engineer and researched the Internet. I could no longer remain a JW after learning what I did. I was positive my wife would feel the same. But she left me over 3 years ago and took my daughter. I can't tell you the damage done to all of us: medications, therapy, suicide attempts, financial ruin, degrading health, etc. I wouldn't have a relationship with a JW if you gave me a million dollars. You have to sell your soul to this group of madmen in order to get baptized. My advice to you is to run like hell away from your friend and the cult. I don't have the time to monitor these boards regularly, so if anyone wants to take me to task, I don't have time. This is my opinion. But I suggest you read the other comments here before you do anything you regret. Good luck. (Oops, here comes a lightning bolt.)

JWs required to report medical information to elders
by Elsewhere inthere was an article, i believe in the awake!, that talks about a hypothetical medical worker who in a hypothetical situation comes to find out that a jw has accepted a medical procedure that is not accepted by the wts.
this hypothetical worker must decide where or not she will report the hypothetical violation to the elders.
does anyone recall where i can find this article?

Thank you Tammy and Gill. As I said, being a psych student, I know how it happened. But that would take a book, there isn't room here. It has to do with the needs of the people who run into JW's who seem to have all the answers. Most JW's were searching for the "meaning of life" or had other problems. Typically, some of these are no family, trying to escape alcohol or drug abuse, and other things. Rarely does a well-adjusted person who has his act together study with the JW's and say, "This is the truth." How many JW's ever took the time to research the 2,000 religions in this country alone? Or to research the history of this cult and some of the insane claims it made in the past about drinking raw milk, having surgery, organ transplants, etc. I highly suggest the book by Don Cameron "Captives of a Concept". It tears 1919 and the WT's claim to be the faithful slave right out from under them. And it then destroys Prov. 4:18, which is the second most important verse to the JW's. The funny thing is that neither verse has anything to do with them being the truth. I have studied physics, astronomy, calculus, started to write a symphony, discussed philosophy, infinity, and many other scientific and artistic subjects with JW's and they just parrot the idiocy they read in the WT, probably written by high school graduates. In other words, the smarter people become and the more they learn about themselves, the less likely they are to ever be a JW. JW's have a college graduate rate of less than 5%. The Jews are the highest with 49%. The general population is in-between. JW's also have from 2 to 40 times the degree of mental illness than the general population does. What does that tell us? That only mentally disturbed, uneducated people become JW's or else trying to remain a JW once you are one drives you crazy. Please read the psychology pages on Freeminds, they are priceless. And Silent Lambs is doing a very good work. I post there often. I'm sure you can figure out my "handle". I will go public soon, but still hope my daughter will speak to me (she now has ignored me for 2 years, aren't mothers who stay in the WT so fair?). After the books come out, I will be DF'd. Then I hope to appear on the media and expose this cult. A few last facts to warn all of you. One out of every six women will be molested before they turn 18 years old. And about 90 to 95% of the molesters will be their fathers, brothers, uncles, doctors, policeman, teacher, clergyman, in other words, someone they know and trust. The scenario of the rapist hiding in an alley with a knife late at night is not the usual way. Please guard your children at all times. Trust no one. Even you sister or husband can be molesting your children. The best to all of you.
