I find it pretty sad that they have little or no growth, or even negative growth, especially in educated countries with the Internet. That is the big factor. And it now takes more money and hours to make a publisher. And what kind of publisher? A JW child? A mate who resisted for years and finally gave in to shut his wife up?? Who knows?

I don't see this great influx to "grab hold of the skirt of a Jew". People are streaming OUT of the WT, not INTO it. That picture of all these happy faces of Prozac People climbing up the mountain with baskets of fruit (NO MEAT) are pathetic. This cult is starting to die. We just need to put the last few bullets into it once and for all.

I appreciate all the hard work everyone did to compile the figures for the graphs and charts.

Danny: Thank you for all the work you did to put this together. I find it outrageous that joining JW's always is seen as "turning your life around", similar to a criminal "finding Jesus" and suddenly that's supposed to be a guarantee of future good behavior. As we have seen, being a JW is far more conducive to being a rapist than whatever you could have been before. It reminds me of the claim that sending young people to prison does more harm than good because they learn better (?) skills from hardened inmates than if they had not been in prison. Being a JW will just give this man more children to prey upon, a more protective environment as he does so, and a better defense in court if and when he's caught again. I cannot fathom that the world AND THE WT refuses to accept that almost ALL molesters are repeat offenders and do NOT get cured. It is usually a lifetime disease. Or maybe I wasted my time getting a pyschology degree.

Danny, I also like your statement that if they don't like your label tough. I'll add to that. Molesters have no rights in my book. Under the Mosaic Law, they were killed. So why do other JW's defend them? This makes them sluts, as they prostitute Bible principles for the sake of the black/white label "DF'd or not DF'd". Their loyalty is with the "good" JW. And we are to believe that Jehovah God wants his name placed on a corporation of WHORES???? WHORES??? I don't think so. Jesus talked with some, but he clearly told them to "sin no more". Shame on you, WT. You are all sluts. Don't like it?? Just like Danny said, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT??? SO SUE ME!!!! I also think some people in the legal system are starting to act like jerkoffs. JW behavior, both molesting and offering character witnessing, is a well-known and well documented fact. Why are we paying judges six figure salaries to show they have IQ's of 70 points?? Why do they allow "character witnessing"? Molesters HAVE no character. They belong DEAD. The Bible punishment was to have rocks thrown at their heads until they split open and their brains squeezed out. Yes, I'm being graphic for a reason. This was GOD'S idea of punishment, called STONING. What did anyone think it looked like?? When a few of us say we would like to shoot child molesters, people look at us like we're crazy and inhumane. I promise you, a .45 slug to the forehead is less painful and cruel than stoning. It's too bad that they can't send them down here to Florida and pass a law so we could use them for target practice. Or better yet, harvest their organs for people waiting for transplants. Oh, wait, that won't work. The WT said that the "heart" talks to the "brain" because your personality lives in the heart. So we don't want to give a molester's heart to a needy person, he would become like the molester. Anyone remember those articles?? What a joke!!

The Calendar of Jehovah God - WT jettisons Gregorian calendar!

the calendar of jehovah god1935 saw the brief attempt by jehovah's witnesses to jettison the gregorian calendar and substitute a new one which the golden age magazine called "the calendar of jehovah god.

the 1935 yearbook published an advance copy of the new calendar and it was mentioned in the march 1, 1935 watchtower.

the series appeared in 3 golden age issues in march and april.

This is just too funny. Now Satan makes false calendars? The WT doesn't know the time of day, yet they made a calendar? I guess they should have kept it and could have made up fakes dates about Armageddon on their new calendar.

They should have preserved Rutherford's brain in a jar like in the movie "Frankenstein". It could go on the shelf next to the brain marked "Abnormal". The two brains seem to be interchangeable.

We better watch our children's schoolwork for now on. It might be dangerous to let them use a satanic ruler or calculator. And computers were probably designed by Satan himself. I actually read an article years ago that said Satan was behind many, if not most, modern inventions so he could steal time from good JW's. I guess Bethel has to get rid of many things. They could have a yard sale. No, that's out. They warned that yard sales are dangerous since you might buy a demonic item.

Why is the Watchtower Society so cruel to teens?

my mom just informed me that a 17 year old has been disfellowshipped at her hall.at least 7 others have been kicked out within the last 5 years.the publisher count is only 56 .why do they let the teens get baptized so young?

i was 14 and only got baptized because of pressure and the end was coming.if you weren't baptized you would be destroyed.. why don't they wait until everyone is at leat 21?

all these teens haven't come back and you won't ever see them unless they return.i haven't seen my cousin in over 2 years.no one went to his wedding,isn't invited to any family functions and is to be avoided at all costs.. the watchtower society should be ashamed that they act that way and the parents let them get away with it..

I couldn't read every post, so if someone said this already, then good.

First, they baptize young to have more "publishers". They also want to keep up the scare tactics: "If you're not a baptized JW, then you will die at Armageddon.

Legal? Yes, but not moral. What idiot would expect a 12 year old to know what he wants from life at that age? We don't let them vote, drink, drive, or marry, but they can get baptized and risk being DF'd and shunned (with possible suicides) at the age of 12?? What the hell is the WT thinking? Sorry, I forgot. Thinking isn't done at the WT.

They are also hypocrites. How often do we get a verse thrown in our face when they want something done? Well, how old was Jesus when he got baptized? Around 30 years old, right? Well, why can't the kids say "I'm going to follow Jesus' example to the letter just like we've been told"? If they waited, many wouldn't ever even get baptized.

It's control, publisher numbers, and other nonsense. I'm sick of hearing about some 8 year old being spotlighted at the convention because he got baptized. He isn't smart enough and the elders who approved him were idiots.

growth in numbers is not proof, other religions also have displayed such growth over the last 100 years.. material prosperity is not proof as other religions also have considerable wealth, both in cash, property and real estate.. printing the watchtower and awake!

Another reason: They were the only ones dispensing food at the proper time in 1919 when Jesus made his inspection. They claim that this is the proof that Jesus needed to choose them to run things. BUT, every single teaching they advocated in 1919 has been dropped, denied, or changed. So in fact NOTHING they taught in 1919 was "food at the proper time", unless poisoned food (falsehoods) are Jesus' idea of good food. This alone should prove to ALL JW's that they could NEVER be the "truth". Will it? No, the WT is too good at making JW's turn their brains off when they are told to.

And now the child abuse scandal. Would God use an organization that protects child rapists in its midst, punishing little children (and adults) for reporting that they have been abused, protecting elders who did it, and all the other disgusting things they do? I can't think of any closer analogy to compare the WT to than the Nazis. And when the Nazis and the WT start to look and act the same, I think we have our answer.

To Anitar and Mary: Very good points. Almost any JW parent I know would let their child go to the door with another adult. Most JW's think that no one would ever molest a child. I think some of them don't even know it happens at all in the world.

I'm a firm believer in the "iceberg theory". I call it that because I think that whatever is known to us or the public is only a fraction of the whole truth, just like about 10% of icebergs are above the waterline. So consider how many cases of abuse we know about and then realize that there are 90% more left to be discovered. JW parents need to learn that even a grandfather or sibling might molest a child.

When I got my psych degree, we learned that one out of six children will be molested before they are 18 years old. And one out of three women will be sexually attacked in their lifetime. Now if these figures are for the world in general, then how many JW perverts are there? There should be NONE, but child abuse occurs at a higher rate among JW's than the world. Does anyone find this disgusting that these self-righteous pieces of slime are worse than the world they condemn to death??

We need to keep telling the public, emailing newspaper editors, and other media. I am active on Silent Lambs because my child was raped by a JW. We are attempting to flood Dr. Phil and Oprah with letters and emails until someone does a show on this. If everyone here contacts people like this, we might get somewhere.

Tell all your friends and neighbors. When JW's come to the door, have a newspaper clipping and show it to them. Don't let them talk about anything else until you know they heard what you said. And throw in the UN scandal too while you're at it. They won't hear it anywhere else and they might listen to you at the door if you presented yourself as a newly interested person who "had a few questions".

It's time these perverts are stopped. One way or another, we have to do it. You can warn your neighbors to either make them talk, or slam the door. And I know the happiest day of my life will be if I see Bethel burn to the ground.

JW Reform, It will NEVER happen...

i have read several posts by posters who fervently hope jws will become a mainstream religion, or will become "the truth," or will stop teaching this doctrine, or tweak that one, and "oh, if they would only [fill in the blank].".

such dreaming will, in the end, come to naught.

there are practical reasons why.. (1) the rank and file have no authority over the governing body.. (2) the rank and file do not hold sway over any of the corporate interests.. (3) the vast majority of memorial partakers are not credible in the eyes of the governing body, nor do they have any authority over anything.. (4) the organization shows a willingness to publicly claim beliefs to which jehovah's witnesses do not actually subscribe in order to improve public image (see lisa's interview with j.r. brown), while retaining the same hard-line beliefs in reality.. (5) the governing body is unwilling to relinquish control over the organization, to share authority with underlings (e.g.

Well, this is one of the most complex threads I've ever seen. We sure could use a "Back to the Future" time machine now.

I don't think the WT will ever completely die out. Enough children seem to stay in, along with some baptisms from the world in general. If the WT changes too much, such as allowing blood, ceasing DF'ing and so forth, as was said, they won't be trusted again. Even if they make it painless to be a JW, allowing complaints and open disagreement with what they teach, their lack of love still remains. Just being a JW and attending meetings inflicts psychological damage on people. As more and more books are published, TV shows aired, and as the Internet keeps hammering away at them, people will think twice about staying a JW or joining in the first place.

Money might affect some decisions, but they have a lot, along with real estate. They are masters of lying and manipulation, so many might stay. Their thinking will probably be "Armageddon" HAS to come soon". But after so many failed dates, they will run out of ideas to prop up the "any day now" song and dance.

Third world nations might provide some growth, but if the rate in wealthy nations is now flat or falling, I don't see why or how they can remain strong. Their tactics are becoming more known each day and the public might soon just block them out when they visit doors. It's really hard to say.

Besides all the wonderful observations made here, another reason might be the GB and the FDS itself. Since many, if not most of THEM never got beyond high school, they never learned to THINK and use common sense. So they are too ignorant and stupid to figure out all of the fine reasoning here against not getting a good education. "An informed people are a free people." But the WT can't stand to have everyone "free" from their control, since there wouldn't BE a WT, so they keep them in darkness and lie to them.

WATCHTOWER loses in court!

What jgnat said is very important. We must ALWAYS be sure we have accurate information. Let the WT keep on lying, it's what they do best. They may call it "theocratic warfare" but the court will call it PERJURY and someday some of those arrogant elders will serve prison time. We have them on tape denying they interfere with people going to the police. Several news interviews caught them lying about how they handle the child abuse allegations. And the biggest liar of all, J.R. Brown, (you know, the one with the IQ of 26) actually appears on their video tape describing their policies and lies the whole time.

Our integrity will show out to the world, and the world will take us seriously, if we conduct ourselves in a mature manner, have facts and proof to back them up, and stick to the issues. The WT will fail because they skip from issue to issue, lie through their teeth, and are making it quite obvious to the world's courts and law enforcement community that they only care about their name, money, and pride.

Child abuse is about the most sensitive subject in the world today. Any religion that appears to condone it, or actually does as the WT does, will receive the wrath of the world. Let the WT play it's little games, waste the JW's donation money, and all the other garbage they do. Someday the JW's will realize what's going on and then all hell will break loose. Most JW families are not well off financially. When they discover that their donations are being used to defend rapists, I think you'll see some reaction.

Again, please do all you can to contact anyone who might help. Treat this as an election. You never know if just a few more votes would have made a difference. Check on Silent Lambs and see what they are doing. Together we can maybe see the buildings in Bethel being sold one day to make room for stores, homes, and other things. Wouldn't it be nice, before you leave this earth, to see the absolute end of the WT?? I'll throw a party.
