Fred Franz was a lunatic. I suppose if the apostles had come in the house through the front door and went through another door for the "bathroom" or whatever they used back then, and then went out the back door, the GB would count THREE doors for that one visit.

Senior Citizens......How does your congregation treat them?
by crazyblondeb innot as good as they use too... but then again they are following the lead of the wts.
why bother with fellowship when you can plug everyone into the telephone.. one one hand they are pushing fs, on the other they are making so many changes that several of the elderly are getting depressed, especially ever since the may 1, 2007 qfr.
with the afternoon bs soon yanked, many not allowed to drive at night, and elderships that don't care enough to orchestrate carpools....it is bad..

In New Jersey, I was in 4 to 6 congregations while a JW. I rarely saw older people helped much. It was all talk and no help. And if memory serves, the few times I saw older people being helped, it was the ones who were considered more "spiritual". This is just another aspect of JW's rendering "sacred service" to their flawed cult and God. Down here in Florida, I haven't attended the meetings and won't ever again, so I don't know how they would be.

What I Learned from Bro Lett's DC Talk
by Rohag inwhat i learned/derived from steven lett's dc talk (thanks again, ynot, for providing access to the .mp3 files!).
brother lett - or the committee that produced the talk - really loves food metaphors.well-dressed people, especially children, produce a good witness.if you're an apostate, chances are bad conduct/secret sin/moral depravity made you that way.
apostasy is usually founded on sin and rarely on conviction.the bible is an insufficient - or overly cumbersome - guide to godly conduct.

Regarding apostates, it's really sad that the WT has to stoop to such a low level of mud-slinging. I really wonder sometimes if they truly understand how much the world, and also secretly "thinking" JW's who want to leave, believes them to be the lying jackasses that they are. I can't believe a group of men who think they are so damn holy can call people names just because they expose them. I know this isn't mature, but just once I'd like to meet a GB member, preferably Jaracz the jackass, and punch him in the nose so hard that he never got up. I'm so sick of being slandered by religious sluts.

Theodore Jaracz aware of molestation issue in 2001 before Dateline
by Dogpatch inhere is a conversation with theodore jaracz, key member of the watchtower's governing body of jehovah's witnesses, initiated by alan feuerbacher in 2001.. jaracz knew about the dateline expose' of their child abuse problem at least 8 months before dateline aired.. this confirms that the governing body knew about the dateline program expose' of watchtower child abuse problem.
of course, to be fair to jaracz, he was entirely unaware of the problems to the watchtower that would follow, including the resulting court cases, which watchtower settled out-of-court.
six years later, the time of the court settlements, jaracz was proved to be wrong on his observations as discussed in the conversation.. watchtower had knowingly appointed molestors to positions of authority, which was established in the lawsuits, so jaracz's arguments do not hold water here.

Good point, Mary. So, now that Jaracz goes to the meetings, Jehovah will direct his steps??? If how Jaracz behaves is indicative of "Jehovah directing his steps", then the GB are on the same level as the Nazis were.
What the hell kind of reasoning is that? How do they figure that attending meetings solves all their problems?? Like the JW's don't have mental problems. If people stayed away from the meetings and JW's, their kids would be safer since they wouldn't be near the largest collection of pedophiles in the world.
It's always good to know that if I ever have a problem, all I have to do is go back to the meetings. Then my fairy Godmother will take care of me. How sweet.

Finally putting the new light all together
by JimmyPage inokay maybe i'm a little slow but i'm finally beginning to understand how all the "new light" is tied together.
this has all been prompted for me by my reading of the 1914 chapter in "crisis of conscience".
see, the door to heaven which was previously closed in 1935 has been reopened.

To Mary: Excellent statement about the only ones paying attention are "apostates". What does that say ABOUT a cult? What does it say TO them?
I wonder how many rank and file have had the thought that outsiders and "wicked slaves", etc., know more about their cult than THEY do.

The most inappropriate remarks from Jehovahs Witnesses
by jambon1 ini have a few which still either anger me, make me sad or just make me grateful that i am no longer one of them.
1 - "well, everyone is going to die anyway, so if it at armageddon then ce la vie" 2 - "the disater today at the world trade centre is sad, but exciting" 3 - (an elder) "when armageddon happens, i want to be at a window, watching it all".
sick, sick, sick!

I was surprised at how many comments had been made by JW's about the World Trade Center. I lived close to NYC when it happened. I watched them burn into the night and saw the smoke travel east 40 miles along the coast of Long Island. The county I lived in, Monmouth, NJ, had the most victims. They said there were dozens from there who died.
First, I don't know where JW's get off saying it's only worldly people. Any "in good standing" JW could have been visiting the WTC that day or even worked there. Maybe some had business there only that day. I guess the JW's are condemning everyone who was "evil" enough to have been killed. I saw people jump from 100 stories up. It was that or be burned to death. I guess that's very Christian to gloat that they died by being crushed by thousands of tons of concrete, burned alive, or fell over 1,000 feet. I won't describe what they looked like on the ground.
Several times, I've posted that IF FATE had to have those planes hit SOMETHING, then the world would be better off if they had missed the WTC and had hit Bethel. But I don't like thinking that way even though JW's do. We need to be better than they are or we have learned nothing by leaving. I would be curious, however, to know how JW's would talk if the planes HAD hit Bethel and killed 3,000 people there.
As a side point, and I can't verify this, I heard a rumor about the Bethel buildings being locked. The WTC was near the Brooklyn Bridge which goes over to Brooklyn and right there is Bethel. I heard from several sources that when people started to stream over the bridge and knocked on the doors for water, the doors were locked and the JW's wouldn't help. The dust from the collapse was killing people and they needed water. It's funny how much the WT brags about its helping disaster victims when in all reality, the WT creates more disasters than it even helped with. And if locked doors and people choking to death on dust are good deeds, then the WT needs to give it up now before God kills THEM.

Thanks to all who gave me some info.
I checked the link and I myself had posted a suicide that happened over 15 years ago involving a good friend of mine. That link is filled with tragedy.
"Apostates" burned the hall?? Sure, blame everything on apostates. I am daily impressed by the superior reasoning abilities of all JW's. What amazes me is that they learned all about psychology, philosophy, financial planning, and many other topics while in HIGH SCHOOL!! They surely didn't learn it in college, right?? But when did they study it in high school? I never saw any courses on these topics. Oh, wait, I know. It was during STUDY HALL. See how that fits? Kingdom HALL and Study HALL. Both have the word HALL.
So, using Freddie Franz's ever popular and accurate weather/Armageddon/lottery ticket numbers/horse race prediction system, we take the fact that both places have the word HALL in them, so future JW's must have had visions about how cults work and also learned how to spot "apostates". The rest of us slept in peace with no attempt to pretend we were studying (why not, the teacher was nodding off as well). But future JW's had visions about college topics and were able to learn 6 or 8 years worth of college material in a few short months. I'm impressed. I'm also pissed as hell. I wasted thousands of dollars and many years to obtain my degree and knowledge and I could have just slept in study hall while holding a WT in my hand so I would be able to see visions about education.
Now we take 70 years of high school students sleeping in study hall, and we add to that 129 years of JW's sleeping in Kingdom Halls (during meetings, of course) and we get over one million JW's today who are now able to appear to be awake while actually being in a coma. The number 129 is an earthly number since it is what their IQ could have been had they NOT become JW's. The number 70 is their CURRENT IQ because they DID become JW's, thereby damaging their brain for life. If we subtract 70 from 129, we get 59. This number represents how many weeks of study hall they had (about 42 weeks of school annually in the US) minus 17, which represents how old they were at graduation. See, it's simple. Was I right, Freddie??
Okay, now for "A homosexual thing"??? Oh, was the shooter male and so was the church building? Was the gun male and the shooter chose a male gun instead of a female gun? No, that's wrong. Maybe the bullets were male and that's what he was attracted to.
I have to stop. I'm getting a headache. The same as I used to get while a JW. Okay, now using Freddie's formula for headaches, I last had a headache 70 weeks ago.........

List of family/friends lost to the Watchtower cult? (suicides)
by hubert inafter reading about puternuts (ari) suicide, and also reading about sabine and js losing their daughter to this cult, i think it would be a fitting memorial, so to speak, to write a list of all the people we know who died because of this cult.
i also know that cruzanheart lost her dad to it, too.
i'm sure there are many here that can make a list of suicides brought on by the shunning/threatening policies of the watchtower cult.

To Gill:
Someone was DF'd for writing a letter???!!!! Jesus Christ, what the hell is wrong with these lunatics?? I'm working on a book that I hope will expose the vast range of psychological abuse most JW's endure by belonging to this sick cult. I have a degree in Psychology and cult involvement and/or suicide due to it were not covered that much. I hope to change that.
My sympathy to all who have lost someone.

I have a friend who quit the JW's 30 years ago. She works for the gov't. If she gives me any facts, I'll pass them on. This is really tragic.
In all seriousness, can anyone help me with this? I'm trying to ascertain how many JW's have committed suicide, whether by state, by country, by year, whatever. In writing my book I want to focus heavily on this aspect. It is one of the most tragic consequences of being in this cult, or rather should I say, being thrown out of this cult, seeing that most suicides occur AFTER the poor victim has been given the boot.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can post something.
As a special favor, seeing we all miss some postings, could you email it to the address for my profile at the top left? Or you can use [email protected].
Many thanks. And my sympathy for this person's family. I think the public is going to start asking these lunatics if they think serving God and following Jesus should result in destruction and death. Whatever happened to the "happy God" and "my load is light and refreshing"??

Thanks for posting the summary. It's sad that a concept (religion is good, God is a "happy" God, and people should be happier with it than without) can be so easily compromised by mentioning the negative as often as the positive. That pretty much says it all about the WT from a psychological point of view.
It's a shame hardly any JW's even recognize the fact that in their haste to run a Gestapo cult and to find all the verses they can that THEY think support that way of thinking, the WT totally fails to have happy and well-adjusted adherents.
They often quote Jesus when he said "wisdom is proved righteous by its works". Yet their works are negative and self-destructive. Most JW's I know have serious mental problems.
And that quote about the Greeks?? That is over the top. It's similar to one talk I heard (KH, CA, DC, I don't remember) where they actually said Satan helped engineers invent things like the VCR, computers, etc., in order to mislead God's people. The writers of these talks entered the realm of lunacy many decades ago and keep going in deeper all the time.
