Listening to NPR yesterday morning, they had a neurologist on who was talking about development of the human brain. She said the brain doesn't complete it's development until the mid 20's, something about neural insulation, you would have to look up the details. So, a nine year old? Looking at that photo of that sweet little girl breaks my heart! They went on to say that of course, the brain changes through out life, which is wonderful, as most of us on this site can attest to when our brains went from cult mode to knowing TTATT.

Hilarious Rumor: Halloween falls on Friday the 13th for first time in 666 years.
by OnTheWayOut inthe date passed by already, so i will mention the silly rumor that was going around.
this is freaking hilarious.
the rumor is a gullibility joke where it is hoped that the reader fails to remember that this holiday observance is on the fixed date of october 31st.

Hey, wouldn't that make a clever costume? Dress a little boy in a polyester suit and tie, put the little girl in a dress and put JW.org badges on them. They could use their bookbag to collect the candy. When asked what they are supposed to be, they could belt out "We're Jehovah's Witnesses". (Do they still sing that one? It's been 30 years since I have been to the KH.)HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Well, you do know why the JWs don't celebrate Halloween don't you? They don't appreciate random people coming to their door.

Listening to NPR this morning, not exactly the place to go for sports. Anyway, the guy kept saying the Royals were incredibly lucky to win all those playoff games, luck went their way, blah blah, and dont forget they are a wild card. Well, geez, so are the friggin Giants numbskull! See why you shouldnt go to NPR for sports. Yes, the Tribe last won the series in 1948, 2 years before I was here, got beat by the Giants in 1954, got beat by the Braves in 1995 and lost a heartbreaker to the Marlins in 1997, thanks to a blown save by Jose Mesa, whose name is still sh** in Cleveland. Man, so close, should have had that one. You have to be tough to be a Cleveland sports fan.
I tell my family that when I die, probably sometime in the next 30 years, they can put on my marker "I told you they wouldnt win in my lifetime" then have a little Wahoo next to it.

I'm from Northeast Ohio so I am, unfortunately a Cleveland fan. Being in the Central Division we play the Royals a lot. That being said, of course during the regular season I hate the Royals! But I hate Detroit more (believe me, they are the rudest fans), so I have to say I am rooting for the Royals one, because they can prove to the Tigers that someone in our division other than Detroit can win the series, two, because they haven't won in so long and the Giants seem to always be winning, and three, because George Brett is still hot in his 60's! Shallow reasons, I know, but us Cleveland fans have to root for the under dog. I do think it's awesome that 2 wild card teams are in the series. Last time that happened was 2002, and one of those teams was also the Giants., who I believe beat the Angels. The Royals are playing better than ever and they will have home field advantage.

What would you do?
by ctrwtf inso i travel alot for business and check into a hotel, start putting away my things and lo and behold in a bureau drawer, find a couple of wt's a couple of awake's and two tracts.
1. throw them in the trash and forget about it.
2. leave them where they lay and forget about it.. 3. leave a note for the housekeeper asking to lay off the cult recruitment.. 4. bring it to the attention of the management, and possibly get the housekeeper fired.. thanks for your input.

I would take them and throw them away someplace else because if it is the housekeeper she will just put them back for the next guest.

The Threat From Ebola by Somebody Who Discovered It
by cofty inthis interview in der spiegel is well worth your time.... peter piot was one of the scientists who discovered ebola in 1976. turns out it was the fault of catholic nuns who coldn't be bothered to sterilise the needles they were using to administer vitamins to pregnant women.. he describes the present outbreak as "a perfect storm" which could claim a frightening number of lives in africa and india.
he doesn't see it as a serious threat to countries with a modern health care system.. "i still remember exactly: one day in september, a pilot from sabena airlines brought us a shiny blue thermos and a letter from a doctor in kinshasa in what was then zaire...".

Well thank you for clearing that up. The Republicans are blaming it on Obama.

I really don't understand this
by keyser soze inwhy, if you're a health care worker who's been exposed to the ebola virus, would you get on an airplane and travel right after?.

Sir82, yes, thats right. Its just that his family would be further out in that time count than the nurses, thats why I was wondering. Its really remarkable that none of them have the symptoms, or at least its not being reported. Think I will just watch the baseball game and have a few pumpkin beers to take my mind off it!

Just thinking, that while everyone here in Akron and Cleveland are starting to freak out, I dont believe I have heard that any of the family of the man who died in Texas have shown any symptoms. I would think they would be sick by now?

Yes, they are reporting she was closely involved with the care of the patient who died. CDC says no way should any of these people be on commercial airlines. Oops, kind of like closing the barn door...well you know the rest. Apparently she was here to plan her wedding and came in contact with many family members, all of whom now have been told to stay home and not go to work. Three of them work at Kent State. Oh my God! Now they are saying she DID have a low grade fever when she traveled back to Texas. OK, turning off television now, too much information!
